Why David Cage never made it to tv? He clearly wants to make a movie or show but is stuck with videogames.
>>214286290It's called farenheit here and I only played the demo
because he isn't a good writer
>>214286290Does he? A movie would lose out on all the "choose your own adventure" parts of his games he's known for. Not counting Omikron the one game unlike anything else Quantic ever made. They should try something like that again.
AND I REMEMBER THE DAY WHEN YOU LEFT FOR SANTA MONICA
>>214286290JASON!
>>214286364all his "games" were shat upon because there was no actual "choose your own adventure" content. there was a fixed narrative you were glued to no matter what.
>>214286469They changed a little bit. But completely altering the story no I guess none of them did that. It was a lot of fun to purposefully fuck up and see how it worked out.
SHIMASANI!!!
>>214286317Millions of copies sold and generally favorable critical reception says otherwise
>>214286290>Why David Cage never made it to tv?Because he's a fucking hack.
>>214286561why are you trying to shill your shit on /tv/ dave
>>214286561Get off the internet David
>>214286594>>214286604I bet you both call Nolan a director for "midwits"
>david chase on 4chan trying to assert superiority to nolanlmao wtf
>>214286660I don't call Nolan anything since I don't have his phone number.
>>214286679You people will hate anybody successful. Obviously not everyone will enjoy a story, what matters is what most people think. The accolades speak for themselves.
>>214286739go to bed david, you're drunk
>>214286469That's objectively wrong. In Beyond Two Souls the way the scenes play out will change a lot depending on your choices.
>>214286769david, give it up.
>>214286769>Beyond Two SoulsAhh yes, that masterpiece of storytelling where the original release had every scene out of order and jumping around constantly, giving the player tonal whiplash. It was so bad they had to make an option for players to pick that would let them play the story from beginning to end properly. Not even getting into the fact that the entire game's story is an absolute embarrassment of writing.
I only played indigo prophecyRemember it was pretty goodI didn't like how the AI faction looked though. Too goofy and unbelievable
>>214286901That's like, your opinion man. And it doesn't change the fact that choices matter. Also Heavy Rain had several different possible endings.
>>214286953indigo prophecy and detroit become human are his best works for sure.
>>214287004the latter exclusively because of the porn
>>214286975You're one of those retards that believes that lie huh?>>214287004Indigo Prophecy is pure schlock and Detroit: Do you get that the robots are like slaves?! is only remembered because of Connor and Hank.
>>214286317he's the wrong type of bad writer without the connections.
>>214286290why did this game turn into the matrix at the end?
>>214286901Read Slaughterhouse Five
>>214286290This game has an interracial relationship so it's bad.Heavy Rain is Cage's peak.
>>214287057>Detroit: Do you get that the robots are like slaves?! is only remembered because of Connor and Hank.so?
you could say the same about kojimafilm/tv people generally look down on video game writersonly recent exception i can think of is the last of us guy (who sucks)
I like the general vibe the entire game had, it was very, dare I say....comfy.
>>214287642>negro protag>comfyOnly in TWD.
>>214287657the protag was some weird mystery meat hapa
>>214287657also, technically, you played as three characters, but the main character was lucas, unfortunately the story went to shit near the end because cage is a hack.
>>214286901At least that's prime ellen page immortalized in 3D format
>>214286290Sure, as long as he fixed the last act because that's where it absolutely shits the bed.
>>214287657But he's just a cool funky guy that is late for work due to fucking his gf too much.
>>214286561Vidya fags praised these games because they were a novelty, the first time an adventure game truly felt cinematic. Nobody cares about David now that we've had actual decent writing and good cinematography in vidya.
>>214287720Say what you want but Lucas Kane is a 10/10 name.
>>214287808But he's black which isn't excusable.
>>214286769>Beyond Two Souls the way the scenes play out will change a lotAh, so that's what it was. I didn't finish the game (played the out of order version, stopped at some underwater base or something) and had the impression that this was the first Cage's game where choices don't matter because the chapters were so disconnected from each other.
Cage really has a knack for starting out strong and completely shitting the bed along the way>Start in the bathroom of a diner with the body of the man you murdered but have no memory of it, needing to quickly cover your tracks and leave before it's discovered>End up having dragon ball z fights with an agent of the Mayan Illuminati who secretly control the world after being resurrected from the dead with superpowers, also the avatar of the internet (who is evil)
>>214288060I mean look at Final Fantasy or the Resident Evil series in later installments with ridiculous outlandish shit at the climax
>>214288186With FF and RE you already know they're gonna put outlandish shit as final boss, but in indigo prophecy it's like complete tonal shift from thriller to battle shounen
>>214288226Yeah but it's a videogame with a flashy story that was my point. If it were a movie I'd expect Cage to keep it much more grounded at the climax. He inserted the Mayan supernatural beast shit so that he could have players rapidly using QTEs and experiencing climatic gameplay because y'know... it's a video game ultimately. I doubt he'd put that into a movie if he wrote the screenplay.
everything in any david cage game is just copied from a movie scene though, usually without any attempt to even hide it. If you see something original it just means you haven't seen that movie yet
>>214288390JASON!!! JASON!! Fuck i hate this segment
I haven't played Fahrenheit since it released but I only remember two things: one, that my pc was trash and would freeze up during QTEs, and two, this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6l4k2aAnjoSeriously what the fuck was this game LOL.
>>214286317As if anyone in Hollywood or TV is.
>>214286290David Cage doesn't want to make movies or shows. He wants to make an interactive story, which is what he is doing. He fully believes that movies are outdated and interactive media is the future. He is kind of right but he doesn't have the talent to use the media. Interactive movies are a good idea. You can just go back to the movie and see what would happen if things went differently, it gives so much rewatch value. You can approach it at your own pace. It's also good for the developer. Once something is filmed that's it, you have a 2D image of the scene. But for interactive video games you can effortlessly go back and edit the scene. It would be a pain in the ass for a filmmaker to film the same scene several times or CGI in something. An interactive video game movie can just go to the scene and delete all the characters who died. The character failed a QTE and bumped his head? Just add a blood decal on his face.Honestly all movie makers should be looking into making David Cage style games. Right now you only have David Cage and the Until Dawn people. Right now the bar for a movie game is fairly low. Any half-decent director could go into video games and blow these people out of the water. We are yet to see directors flocking to games like they did when FMV was a thing.
>>214288419https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV5o33yaS-0
>>214288714ok mr film writer, you have a story to tell that's meaningful to you? that's cool, now to make it interactive, where things can change, you need to actually write 200 stories with the same characters and start point. are any of these stories going to be meaningful in the way of your original one? almost by definition that won't be the case. so yeah you'll be churning out slop, 200 cranks of the typewriter handle. But hey, you'll be paid... still just once actually
He doesn't make games for fags and for that I respect him
Jesus one motherfucker really hates David Cage. I think everyone gets it anon but by all means elaborate and give me a (you) too I want one.
>>214289934Stop getting upset David. Everyone liked Detroit Become Human and Heavy Rain to me is (unironically) one of my favorite games of all time. Work on your new stuff instead of having a meltdown here
>>214286290Santa Monica sounds like Nickelback, actually cool. Better ost than Life is strange.
>>214286290Shit starts as mystery and ends as dragonball
>>214289977Dude you're crazy. Or drunk. Or you're actually David yourself.
>>214290015Sure thing whatever you say David "don't make games for fags" Cage
>>214290033Okay David get some rest
>>214287057Also the Traci sexbots. Man, an actual rape scene would have been hot.
>>214290045t. David Cage
>>214290140You're weird
>>214286290David got Lance Henriksen, Dafoe in his game movie, that counts at least as a solid kino.
>>214286290his game are meant to be played and have multiple paths, i know youre a retard who was told "MOVIE GAME ME NO LIKE" but his games are not trying to be that
>>214286469Way more impactful choices than ex:Walking Dead seriesGames like Heavy Rain or Detroit BH actually let you kill off playable characters early, and the endings can be radically different
>>214290325there are no multiple paths in his games.
>>214290695the robots one has it, not the others
>>214286317he's a better writer than say, Alex Garland
I genuinely like Omikron, Heavy Rain and Detroit with all their flaws but Beyond is complete dogshit while Farenheit is good for like the first 1/3rd and then it devolves into the Mayans Matrix fighting the internet (who was disguised as a woman in a wheel chair) Interested in what his Star Wars game will be like if that ever comes out
>SSSHHAAAAUUUNNNN!!!!
>>214287823>the first time an adventure game truly felt cinematic.Westwood's Blade Runner game was the first convincingly cinematic adventure game if we exclude the old 90s FMV games from consideration, which I personally do because their production values were too low for cinematic style. Sadly the Blade Runner remaster was a disappointment. David Cage's games are more easily remastered because they're fully 3D.
>>214286290Indigo Prophecy is easily one of the best “bad” stories ever put into a video game. Nothing that came after it ever reached it’s height of cheese. Genius.
>>214286561gamers are tasteless retards
