Just watched this on a whim. The last two segments are pretty good but damn are those first two awful.
>>
>>214291770
hello fellow RLM friend!
>>
>>214291810
Who's that? Some eceleb you're obsessed with?
>>
You're crazy. The Nazi story was good.
>>
>>214291892
In your own words, what would you say was the point of it?
>>
>>214292255
Well, to show what would happen to a racist if he were put in the shoes of someone he hates?. See him be taught a lesson?
>>
>>214291770
Three people, one adult and two minors, died making that movie. Show some respect.
>>
>>214292319
What lesson is he learning from being magically transported to context alien to his identity, and then getting that identity magically confused with another with no experience or agency to operate under it?
>>
>>214292419
Ramis proved in court it was a tragic but unforeseeable accident anon, move on
>>
>>214292419
at least it was quick, albeit probably terrifying for all of like 6 seconds.
>>
>>214292319
Whats wrong with being racist? How is ingroup preference bad, and why is it only bad for White people to have?
>>
>>214291892
>Landis
>Spielberg
>>
>>214292319
>>214292492
He didn't learn any lesson. The audience though is meant to learn the lesson that if they don't supress their non-PC thoughts they will be punished by a Secret Power that supposedly doesn't exist.
>>
>>214291770
This movie is trash. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet with John Lithgow was the only good part. The movie is not worth the murders Landis committed for it.
>>
>>214293048
The Dante segment is nice (and the lady is hot af) but yeah the Miller segment is the strongest by far, and JL's performance is great.

There's also that split-second shot of him with grotesquely inflated eyes reacting to the gremlin that always fucks me up.
>>
>>214292419
>spielberg was reported to have been present and hastily fled the set when the accident happened
>inmediate public condemnation of Landis and "termination of their friendship"
>One sidedly declare the end of the New Hollywood era of maverick directors to stay in good grace with the studios
>still phoned in a week of work for his segment and collected his paycheck
Steven was a consumate survivor
>>
I can't like this movie because I refuse to give it any support after finding out they killed two children while filming. The film shouldn't have even been released with the Nazi story then if the main actor for it died irl trying to protect those two kids from the helicopter crash.
>>
>>214292909
This.
what? You think Black people are getting unfair treatment today? How about you see what other black people in a totally different time who have nothing to do with anything went through. Checkmate!

Best part is the segment was about not being racist to people, but fuck those Vietnamese children, right Landis?
>>
>>214292582
Ramis?
>>
>>214293048
The John Lithgow short was the only one that felt like it was paying homage to the original.

The others felt pretentious, edgy and egotistical
>>
>>214294145
>died irl trying to protect those two kids
Well not really. He just died at the same time (it basically happened in an instant)

Anyway, it's one of those somewhat complex issues. Should the work of hundreds of people be dismissed because the person in charge was proved to be a morally questionable weasel?
>>
>>214294249
A guy named "-is" anyway lol
>>
>>214294321
At the very least, the Nazi story shouldn't have been included just for that. This isn't one of those "their deaths were for nothing" moments because it should've been the catalyst to make Hollywood or the government a lot more strict on using child actors to reduce future harm.
>>
>>214294387
>Hollywood start treating child actors better
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>214292582
>unforeseeable accident
Completely foreseeable. Landis was warned
of the danger, no one had the guts to stop
him.

It's barely 4-5 frames but really effective
>>
>>214294145
the movie originally was not released with the nazi segment. it wouldn't be restored for a decade or more.
>>
>>214295305
Jesus christ. So that means the first story that would have played after that weird ass intro would have been the one with the old people kicking the can? Yeah no wonder people retroactively hate this film
>>
>>214296119
No just the very end of that first segment was changed a tiny bit
>>
>>214294387
It actually was the reason child labor laws in Hollywood became a thing.
>>
>>214295305
False.

>>214296119
The fact that the scene that caused the accident was scheduled to be shot among the very last and the segment was basically in the can otherwise was a testament to how "unforeseeable" the accident was. At some point during the manslaughter trial the defense was actually blaming the dead main actor for getting himself and the kids killed because he was on his mark lmao What an embarrassing shitshow.
>>
Who let Spielberg's schmaltzy garbage into this horror movie? What a tonal u-turn.
>>
>>214296596
OG Twilight Zone wasn't all about mystery and horror and downer twists, there was plenty of lighthearted fantasy and happy endings.

Not to say that the segment isn't garbage, of course; but that has nothing to do with the focus or tone of it.
>>
>>214296596
The movie was only released AT ALL because the studio wanted a Spielberg-signed release lol It's a well known and agreed upon irony that the pieces by the "lesser" directors are the only passable material.
>>
>>214291770
Whatever happened to Rob Bottin? Guy makes some of the best make up and creature designs, and then dips
>>
>>214297743
For some reason I always assumed whoever did the creature effects in Freaked had also worked on this, but apparently Bottin didn't do that one.

Anyway, apparently he retired around the early 2000s because of the shift towards CGi in the industry.

You should see what they do to their assholes
>>

ive only seen 1 (one) twilight zone episode

and thats the one where some bookworm becomes the only living person on earth

after finding this out, he is elated beyond belief because now he gets to READ books!!!

and through his self-celebratory action, his glasses fall from his face

as he gets on his knees, searching for his glasses, he accidentally brakes them with his own foot

now hes blind and can no longer read books
>>
>>214298685

I assumed he has referencing the opening scene of the movie where the two characters specifically bring up that ep

they were already a thing, they were breaking the rules. the case caused them to strengthen the laws
