It sucks. Why is no one able to recreate the comfyness of early seasons of The Office?
>>
Is there even one singular person who didnt think it would be terrible?

I take it they made Jim black?
>>
>>214293036
They screwed up by making the newspaper full of incompetent morons.Watching people be bad at something so simple isn't funny when it's every character.
It's like they looked at The Office and said "people love Michael and Kevin, make everyone like that!"
>>
>>214294431
Jim's character is split between the Black guy (hates his job, only stays because he's attracted to "Pam", the asian girl) and the Blonde girl (good at her job when she applies herself but has one foot out the door)

It's not 2007 anymore.

Is it grounded and believable or is it wacky cartoon characters like parks and rec

>>
>>214294456
Yep. Its fucking annoying watching a bunch of retards. In The Office most of them had flaws, but most people were at least somewhat competent at their jobs. Here, no one is.
>>
>>214294532
I don't think the black dude is Jim. Him and the Asian chick are Ryan and Kelley. Jim clearly the new blonde girl, Mare.
>>
>>214297048
Every show that has tried to replicate the office like that supermarket one or Brooklyn 99 has done this. Flip the 80/20 ratio of normal people/retards
>>
>>214294698
Cartoon characters other than Mare (gender swapped Jim). Its definitely like late Office seasons where the wackiness is turned up to 10.
>>
>>214293036
There’s an entire cottage industry now of making slop for aging millennials who are unable to move the fuck on. This is the same kind of thing as the sequel of Freaky Friday they made like 20 years later
>>
>>214296962
Anti-Michael.

Whereas Michael is constantly inappropriate, and seems retard but deep down is actually a good manager, they flipped it all. New guy is very liberal and HR-friendly, and outwardly seems like a great journalist actually has no clue how to run a paper.
>>
>>214293036
>somehow oscar has returned
>>
Stopped at Episode 1 because it was just so contrived.

Like right away they lock General Hux in an office because they think he is an intruder. But he is there to see Esmerelda...and its an open office...so she can see what is going on in the office and at any point someone could just wave her over. He also says things like "I am starting here today", but doesn't mention he is the new Editor-In-Chief. And how does no one in the office know a new editor-in-chief was starting that day?

And then they carry this on all the way through him having lunch with Not-Pam. Finally he mentions his job title. Isn't the job title the first thing you usually discuss with a new co-worker? And why would he not mention his role? Especially since the first thing not-Pam asks him is if he is a replacement for her.

I fucking hate these shows where the setup for the drama relies on everyone being autistic retards who can't speak to each other.
>>
>>214297296
And crustier than ever. The show reveals him to be 61 years old, and then later they show he is still getting Grindr hits.

Why Oscar? Why not do a returning character people actually cared about? Dwight would be best, but even someone like Erin would good. No one liked Oscar.
>>
>>214297400
A surprising amount of the actors have gone one to have decent careers. They don’t need nostalgiabux. Oscar makes sense because who wants more Angela or Merideth or Creed? Actually it would have been kinda funny if Toby is the one who returned.
>>
>>214297400
Any of the cute female characters would be walled now and looking at them would make me sad
>>
>>214297400
oscars actor was probably too broke to say no
>>
>>214297851
The show is already all walled women though. Only 1 woman on the entire cast is under 30 (27) and she is a cunt knowitall Asian in an open relationship with a black dude.

The Office severely underestimates how much the subtle sex appeal of Pam and later Erin was essential to male viewership.
>>
I am shocked they didn't do any cameos other than Oscar. This show isn't getting any marketing traction. Michael simply walking by in the background of a shot would been mentioned on every media site's front page and drove a ton of viewership.
>>
>>214296962
he's pretty naive but decent

Steve Carell won't do it. They had to pay him millions to show up for once scene in the Office final.
>>

it's funny that they had a Stanley "cameo" by having him be speechless on the phone when the actor who plays him is the biggest Office shill of them all, he would've done it for 3 figures
>>
>>214294399

>>
>>214297111
if they want millennials to watch it then why does it have zoomeresque diversity? in the millennial version the fact that there was a Mexican in the office was a running joke.
>>

>>
>>214300156
>>214300198
It is obvious you have not been outside in a long time. Cities in the Midwest are not frozen in the past. Toledo is diverse now and this is just reality. You are reacting like someone who just discovered the world exists. Welcome to 2025.
>>
>>214300156
Its why they are failing. The show makes it pretty explicit. They have a bunch of retarded DEI hires who can't do anything lead by an incompetent girlboss. The show is about a white man coming in and fixing everything.

same, I pirated all of Season 1 for Tim Key thinking he would be the main manager and on screen a lot, but he is not. I'm 34, I did grow up and enjoy the Office, but I'm not finishing this show after two episodes. I don't know if it's because I don't find these sitcoms interesting anymore, if the show is objectively not funny, etc. It's just not worth my time at all

anons that like Tim Key do yourself a favor and watch The Ballad of Wallis Island
>>
I think the new Jim and Pam are actually going to be Mare and the shipping guy played by Eric Rahill. The characters he does are pretty much more loser-y Andy from Parks and Rec and he ends up being endearing without being annoying.
>>
>>214300496
>the shipping guy played by Eric Rahill
he's the funniest one besides Tim Key. every other character pretty much sucks
>>
Safe comedy where the punchline is "someone looks at the camera" is pathetic

>>
The old stuff was tolerable. it's all genuinely trash now, it's corny millennial woman writing and brownoid actors. Nothing will ever be good ever again.
>>
>>214294456
I haven't watched the show but I agree with the spirit of this. One of the things that's charming about the Office is that even though Dwight and Jim are retarded assholes to each other and most of the people around them, they're good enough at their jobs that it's still believable they haven't been fired for being annoying jackasses

Have the writers ever been to Ohio? Why does everyone in the office dress like they live in Nantucket? No one in Ohio wears tweed or corduroy blazers or patchwork wool cardigans.

Formal would be a shitty polyester sports polo from Target with chinos. Most people just wear jeans and sports team shirts.

Member when they created one single character in the entire series who was a Republican - the state senator - and then they made him both an unfaithful husband and the gay lover of a Hispanic man? I member. There's no agenda, though.

Oh, and at Jim and Pam's wedding rehearsal dinner when the evil grandma is evil because she expects sex to wait until marriage?

There's no agenda though.

How is this even an Office sequel? It feels like the just put Oscar into an already fully planned out show and tacked on that opening scene with Bob Vance. It's not terrible or anything but it's also not particularly great. But I feel like that's generally been true for all mainstream comedy for a while now.

Comedy just doesn't work in 2025 and this show shows why. You can't be offensive or risky anymore. This show barely has any jokes because it was all written as though HR was in the room.
>>
>>214295383
>who gives a fuck? this is like a show made a decade too late
The show was probably pitched to NBC in 2014 and they shoved it in a drawer for whenever they got desperate enough to bring back The Office. They dumped all 10 episodes onto a dying streaming service against Wednesday and Peacemaker season 2. Not a big vote of confidence.

The idea is that it's a sequel since the documentary company is making a follow up.
Dunder mifflin gets liquidated and bought by a company that does all sorts of paper stuff, newspaper being the bottom barrel, and so they're trying to revive it
The meta joke is that it's not so easy to revive something people have moved on from
