CTAWB is a genre defining album. It's a culmination of their unique sound. Their whole writing style leading up to that influenced countless bands so it's not really surprising people prefer that era. Here in After is still better, though. KOC is bland and has shit sterile production. Atonement and Majesty are both solid. And Acts of God is one of their best albums imo. The post Unholy Cult albums just have a more stripped down approach and are much less dissonant which was Immolations bag. If you like cleaner production I can see gravitating to the newer stuff, though.

If you truly get into bands like Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Met&Meg and those, it's for life and for sure. You may branch into other genres like grunge and rock and blues and folk, you may cut the hair and ditch the black jeans, but Sabbath and Maiden stay with you forever.
