Do you like it when vampires have their silly weaknesses (asking to enter a house, counting rice grains) or not?
>>
yes because vampires also have a bunch of silly capeshit powers that were made up after the fact and have nothing to do with their vampirism
>>
>>214299427
Yes. Mystical weaknesses are part of what makes those fuckers fun. If they didn't have those they might as well just be slightly smarter animals.
>>
yes, because otherwise whats stopping them front entering people's house at night while they sleep and feasting on them
>>
>>214299499
Crosses and garlic.
>>
>>214299742
ye, thats how people slept back in the day

If a dhampir is what happens when a vampire male impregnates a human female, then what happens what a human male impregnates a vampire female?
>>
>>214299427
That's why i like Blade and Underworld so much. They explain all the superstitious bullshit with science. Highly allergic to silver and garlic, UV radiation causes burns but with enough sunblocker and other protective gear they can walk in the sunlight, they can't produce hemoglobin that's why they need our blood.
>>
>>214299427
-AH!!! No I'm allergic to Catholicism!!
>>
>>214299915
Not going to lie that sounds pretty Reddit my guy
>>
>>214299978
So you've never seen either Underworld or Blade.
>>
>>214299427
I like when vampires want to fuck newlywed women to break up marriages. For you see, a vampire cannot resist untying knots.
>>
>>214299915
U4 was by far the worst, which is exactly when they tried to lean much harder into the science aspects of vampires and werewolves and faceplanted so hard that it's not even funny.
Underworld was much much better lore-wise in the earlier entries when this stuff was basically confined to "it's biological, just little-known, with some aspects that we figured out over centuries, but not supernatural or religious".
Underworld 4 even fucking flip-flopped about whether they are separate species or not. Incredibly sloppy approach.
>>
>>214300056
>Underworld 4
We don't talk about that movie. Underworld ended with the prequel.
>>
>>214299915
>They explain all the superstitious bullshit with science.
That's retarded as fuck.
>>
>>214299915
Blade had vampire gods though.

With Blade they have a good balance. They seem to work on scientific principles in some way, but they themselves still have a lot of superstition around it.
>>
>>214299452
Oh, so they're not realistically portrayed?
>>
Asking to enter a house is kino. An old immortal powerful being bound by someone saying yes or no to go into a house must be incredibly frustrating for them.
>>
>>214300373
And they didn't make the mistake of trying to explain the lore behind that. Just Frost digging up some old ass vamp necronomicon, running software decrypting the ritual and boom it works thanks to Blades blood.
>>
>>214299915
That's not science you knucklehead.
>>
>>214299427
Silly weaknesses like needing to be invited in and counting things yes(though there's a difference between a social call and murdering, a vampire does not need to be allowed in a place if it is just there to kill people). Physical weaknesses being fatal NO, sunlight and running water can only weaken a vampire. Such a Monster can only die by suicide
>>
>>214299427
I like it when they have silly weaknesses that are explained by real world science. Example - the vamps in the novel Blindsight. They once lived alongside humans, but had a fatal flaw called a crucifix glitch - their mind could not cope with right angles. Since right angles don't appear in nature that wasn't a problem, or even known, but with time humans advanced and started building stuff that was perfectly at 90 degrees. Vamps could not adapt/evolve and were wiped out resurrected by us later using science, the glitch is hilariously still there.

When does a house become a house? Some folklore (I think it's Eastern European stuff about demon-like creatures) says that you can draw a circle on the ground around yourself which the forces of evil can't cross, any chance this is related?
>>
>>214299427
In Preacher it seems like they only die if they're exposed to the sun. Everything else is just about getting them weakened enough so you can do that.
>>
>>214300603
We'll talk about this later

Yeah Vampires are weak to wanting to get their dick wet or pussy pumped.

There are different definitions i guess. But yeah, it relates to things like putting a circle of salt, or salt at the doors. Some form of barrier they cant cross. Or if it's defined as having walls and a roof. I guess there are many versions of it. I think some jews in israel circumvent the rule of not leaving your house on the sabbath by drawing a line around the whole town and say the town is their house so they can move freely within it

Dracula isn't even harmed by sunlight in the original novel. He just can't shapeshift in the day time. When I read that I felt like my whole life was a lie.
>>
>>214300657
I haven't watched this, but a quick google search reveals that he's a son of a vampire father. I'm talking about human father + vampire mother.
>>
>>214301161
Huh, I remembered it wrong.

Tried googling that 'human father and vampire mother' thing and I actually can't find anything. Maybe some anime?

>I think some jews in israel circumvent the rule of not leaving your house on the sabbath by drawing a line around the whole town and say the town is their house so they can move freely within it

It's a SUPER serious business in religious jewish communities. See this, for example:

https://www.npr.org/2019/05/13/721551785/a-fishing-line-encircles-manhattan-protecting-sanctity-of-sabbath
>>
>>214300640
They're dead they shouldn't be interested in that sort of stuff
>>
>>214301307
They're undead and they're creatures of defilement. They're like human shaped vermin. Dracula is really just a novel about a rapist who can turn into a bat and he enjoys cucking people just because it's evil.
>>
>counting rice grains
This nigger just watched Dracula II: Ascension.
>>
>>214299915
I dunno it made killing them super easy no?
>>
>>214300603
I think one of the Fright Night movies had a vampire start to demolish the house from the outside, since the building wouldn’t be a “home” anymore if it was a wreck.
>>
>>214299427
Religion and superstition. Demons can't come inside your house unless you invite them in. And garlic lowers blood pressure, therefore it would be bad for vamps etc.
>>
>>214300813
yep, he was also killed by having his throat cut with a bowie knife, not by stake through the heart
>>
>>214301239
Why even do shit like this?
Either follow your silly made up rules or don't. Imagine being religious and thinking you're tricking god
>>
>>214302056
They do use a stake to Lucy don't they?
>>
>>214302085
Yeah that doesn't make much sense. I wonder why they act that way. Maybe I'll do some research
>>
>>214299427
Not if it derails the story.
The only cool thing ever done with a vampire being unable to enter a house was in the Vampire Diaries where the vamp just rocketed coins through the house like a gun until he was invited in.
Every other time it's just the vamp walks off disgruntled from not being let in, only to be let in by another person in the next scene.
>>
>>214299427
Yeah, they're pretty boring without the quirks to be honest. Not enough movies make use of these.
>>
>>214299427
Without them people would begin noticing that they're really just an allegory for jews.
>>
>>214302670
The strict adherence to nonsense rules while also trying to find loopholes to circumvent them is highly Talmudic tho.
>>
Vampires are best when they’re direct allegory for jews, thus vile deceptive ugly manipulative.

Also Joe Gilgun played the best vampire ever

I find stuff like this pointless yet hilarious, making up rules and then finding ways to circumvent them
