Why didn't the comics industry go woke the way the movie industry did in the 10s/early 20s?
>>
>>214310702
They barely sell anything as is, why test fate with the few customers you actually DO have?

The comics industry did go woke and it blew up in their faces.
>>
>>214310702
Comics were the first medium to start the woke bullshit way back in like 2014 you moron
>>
>>214312060
It was way before that. The Joss Whedon comics started coming out in the early 2000s or so. The '90s were no picnic, but at that point the whole industry was just a massive con to sell variant issues to idiots and the industry imploded.
>>
>>214310702
Were you asleep? They went woke even worse than the movies to the point multiple comic stores closed down because they couldn't sell any new comics.

You didn't realize half the blowback for doing Jane Foster Thor in Love and Thunder was due to <Unsolicited opinions on Israel>?

are you serious?
>>

>didn't
oh you're a dumbass
>>
>>214310702
It did. Extremely. What are you talking about?
>>
I picked up the hulk omnibus that starts with Peter David's legendary run in the 90s and Bruce Banner literally gets cucked in the first couple issues. He spends too much time in the lab and causes a fight with his girl for not paying attention to her and she literally goes off and fucks her ex.

It was literally the first industry to go woke.
As well as the first to collapse due to wokeness.

They couldn't sell superhero comics at the height of the MCU because when dad went into a comic store looking for an Ironman comic for his son, he got Riri Williams. And what do you know, those stories don't sell in motion picture format, either.
>People just aren't interested in the medium of pictures and text on a page anymore.
Tell that to manga. All of the excuses that wokes come up with to try to explain how it's anything but bad stories by subversive narcissists with no moral compass and often no talent are outright sad.
>>
>>214314798
>Tell that to manga
only cuz of weebs
>>
>>214310702
Are you fucking retarded? The entire "Marvel Now!" rebrand launch was to make comics specifically to turn them into movie characters, that is where femthor is from, thats where khamala is from, thats when Captain Marvel as Carol received her major push. Holy fuck you are dense.
>>
>>214314831
Weebs are created because manga is good.
And one of the reasons why it's good is because it has a functioning moral compass,

It's also beautiful.

This. DC is the one there changed “Truth, Justice and The American Way” to “The Human Way.” Comics are so woke and gay now why kids today don’t even read them. They all read Jap shit
>>
>>214314798
Comics thrived with writers that too edgy and insane for standard print but pulps and comics books would hire them. Now just a bunch of college elite liberal hacks
>>
>>214314648
It will never stop being fucking crazy that Supersons was a hugely popular series and yet they made a conscious choice to age up Jonathan so they could depict him being a fag as quickly as humanly possible
>>
>>214314798
We want the ???? audience
>>
>>214310702
It definitely did a very long time ago. Comics just aren't big enough for many people to care, especially not to complain about. Secondly, there are so many different comics that there's plenty of space for all interests. Also, if a magazine doesn't do well, they just do another mini-series.
>>
>>214310702
because it was already woke way before? is this a joke?

>too edgy and insane for standard print
Let me translate that so that we can get to the heart of why western entertainment is dying.
>upsets feminine sensibilities too much for the international banking cartels and their puppets to approve
Men love violent, weird, sexy stories filled with demons, gods, guns, mechs, mysteries, violence, and cute half-naked girls. And of course, masculine morality. Feminists (including those who thump Bibles and push feminism under the banner of pseudo-traditionalism) went on a rampage against male-oriented entertainment. Comics, 90s wrestling, tabletop, fantasy and sci-fi novels, videogames. Now they're trying to come for anime.

We need to reject the idea that everything ought to be built with women in mind and women need to get used to the idea of a male space. Does a romance novella company need to need to ask "what will men think of our novels"?
>Male customers have turned this into a billion dollar IP. I think it's time they start thinking about making women feel welcome.
The proper response to this is "I think it's time for you to jump feet-first into a woodchipper, Karen". There should be no arbitrary limits on how big a male-oriented franchise can be.

Totally agree. Look what Disney did after spending billions to get built in male audiences with Marvel and Star Wars. In less then a decade they drove them all off and now asking “hey, where did all guys go?”
