what can we agree on that Gunns Superman got right?

nothing, it was all pretty shit.

It started with a generic le funny untrained doggo assaulting its injured owner. Legit made me laugh. Doesn't make it a good movie, but the scene was done right to elicit the exact response it was designed to.
>>
I wouldn't know since I shut the movie off around the 40 minute mark when they defeated the giant CGI monster in the city.
I'd say from those 40 minutes, they got the Superman/Lois bickering scene right. It felt like an actual relationship that has love in it, but also ideological differences, and was easily the best scene in the movie. Idk, maybe I'm just getting too old for capeshit anymore.

Superman 2025 is one of the worst superhero movies of all times. James Gunn, who excels in directing overdone violence, out of place quips, undeserved melodrama and perverted sex obsession brings all his trademark traits to this rendition of Superman. This isn't a Superman movie, it's a Marvel/Guardians of Galaxy movie with Superman in the middle of it. In fact, Gunn seems to enjoy writing Justice Gang far more than he does writing Superman. The former which ran off two jokes that were repeated ad nauseam throughout the movie.

What makes Superman a compelling character is gone in Gunn's sloppy adaption. He's not particularly strong, he's not particularly wise, he's a poor leader, he's extremely narcissist and gets easily emotional. And this is supposed to be a seasoned Superman. It's almost like Gunn was projecting his own shitty flawed character on to Superman. The only missing touch would be if Lois was a minor.

The action scenes are just a complete mess of CG blob. Superman is basically a rag doll that gets thrown all over the place and nothing in this movie has weight or meaning to it, particularly in its action. There's a scene where Lois and Mr Terrific break into enemy HQ and the whole ordeal is of course settled with a very catchy music montage of all the enemies being dismantled with utter ease. The next scene is of Clark trying to keep a CGI baby from drowning in lava with his deus ex dog arriving in timely manner to save him again. This is straight out of a Marvel movie and has no place in a Superman movie.

This rendition of Lex is also his most shallow depiction. There is no nuance or intelligence to this Lex. He's not particularly shrewd and constantly spills out his plans for everyone to find out. He throws into temper tantrums just like Superman and starts to sob and cry because Superman is better than him. Where is the elegance and intelligence of Luthor? This is basically a spoiled rich kid battling another spoiled strong kid. 1/10, MCU slop.
>>
>>214310952
He got the colors right, and in the right order too.
>>
>>214310952
Superman always trying to keep everyone around him safe (willing to tank tremendous attacks, not dodge around them), the Kent family vibes being lighthearted not depressing, a lot of normie Clark moments. Gets some other things wrong or weird. I still prefer Man of Steel but that is what I liked about Gunn Superman.

Nice, lighthearted tone and colour palette. Superman saving people. Clark being an idealist and justifying it to the point where you actually agree with him. The message that people should help other people. The issues were some of the Gunnisms. He can't hide his snide side sometimes, it comes through in raunchy humour and sarcasm which work for a cheap laugh in the moment but leave sort of a bad taste lingering. Also, maybe a little too much focus on responding to the critics of Man of Steel to the point where it's too noticeable that "we're not Snyder." I think it could have treated itself a little more seriously and it would've improved it overall.

Imagine spending two hours passive aggressively trashing MoS while ending with this trainwreck of a scene. I hate Gunn and his online fanboys so much. They're all spineless bitches.

Hope, goodwill, positivity. I liked most of it. Some of the music montages were a little cringe for my taste.
It was a lot better than Man of Steel, that's for sure. I'll watch a sequel. I liked that Green Lantern. His middle fingers at the end were funny.
I don't understand why so many of you assholes on this website hate it so much and pretend it was terrible. It was a really solid movie. And the opening with the 3 years, 3 months stuff was clever.

It was actually FUN like a comic book. They had silly shit and other heroes swooping in and quips. The thing jackhammering the eyeball was fucking hilarious. Or that background fight in the sky while he's talking to Lois. There was so much inventive shit in it. Makes me want to check out the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Remember when they tried to cancel Gunn and the whole cast said they wouldn't work with anyone else on a sequel? That was awesome. He beat the stupid cancel culture system and now he's winning.
Feels like a win for everyone.

fairly accurate.
i didn't enjoy seeing superman super weak in every way for the whole film. starts off battered and has his bones broken and shoulders dislocated etc all the way to the end. never seen superman so weak, and it didn't add depth to his character either.
i can see how children would like the film, if they've never seen superman before. it's full of anime style characters, the dog, the stupid sidekicks, the cartoonyness of the whole thing.

i just finished watching man of steel for the first time about half an hour ago or less.
it was alright, I like the superman portrayal, but it's missing the whole middle of the film. it goes instantly from him becoming superman to having to save the world from the general he'd been told about 5 seconds before.
it felt very mechanical, like it was a transformers film, the justice league felt like that too, lots of metal crap and no point to it.
pity Henry Caville couldn't be superman again, he was good for the role.
lots didn't make sense in the film, felt like they were chopping and changing things to try to keep the audience from guessing the next bit, but in that way it felt forced.
i doubt anything will top Christopher reeve's superman, especially the first one - it had it all, felt like a film for one, cohesive, and was family friendly, did mahlke you hope for him, show a little weakness for him but not too much, and felt real enough while also being a comic.
superman 2 was good too, which is mostly what man of steel followed.
i never bothered with the superman before caville, a friend saw it at the cinema and said it was just a lame remake.

Best capesloppa since Endgame, unironically. The Batman sucked and was so faggy, this movie mogged.
>>
I dunno, it's a divisive film for sure. To me it got the comic book dorky feel correctly. It didn't have the heart or soul of Superman like Man of Steel or Smallville had. I hold those in very high esteem.
Also didn't help that they straight up went with the "sent him to Earth to conquer" angle. At least in Smallville, it was ambiguous. MoS was a little too charitable with "you'll le inspire them to achieve wonders" when there's really no reason to.
The action involving Superman himself was pretty bad, he didn't seem super at all. He struggled, he strained, he hardly got to show off his invincibility and true strength.
In short, I don't think this was a good Superman film. Barely a fun Justice not-League film. It was fun, just not worthy.

How do snyderbots still exist. Why couldn’t you chuds help promote your gods career on wokeflix. You ungrateful rats
