ITT: Miscasts in TV/film
>>214316194literally who
>buscemi is miscast as tony b1/10
Andrew Garfield as spiderman
buscemi would be a great casting for an adaption of earthworm jim
he was great mr pink
>>214316262
>>214316194Buscemi isn’t the issue, it’s how jarring his intro was and so much of his storyline feels brushed over. They just randomly introduced plot points like how he has a daughter who’s run away and shit and shit.
>>214316289This. The character just isn’t very interesting
>>214316302Filtered
>>214316289Was he part of the last minute rewrite season? The one where the actress playing his mom was going to be the main sole focal point of the season the suddenly died and they had to make up everything real fast? Which was that?
>>214316329that was season 3 and you're thinking about tony soprano's mother, livia, and how she was going to testify against him to the FBI for the stolen airline tickets
>>214316289yeahSopranos has a problem where they have all these "HEY THIS FRIEND OF OURS WE'VE NEVER MENTIONED JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON!" characters and Tony B is the worst offender
>>214316348That was a mess of a season
>>214316368I genuinely can't remember anything from that season other than meadow being a mudshark
>>214316390I remember the schizo college roommate plot
>>214316247This guy is overused and plays the same character in everything. He also had no business playing Ptolemy
>>214316363I don't see it as a problem. Do you really think the mafia doesn't have a revolving door of guys coming out of and going into prison? They're career criminals, doing jail time is simply part of the job.
>>214316368Faggot
>>214316508Come on. You know it was. Behind the scenes situation was unavoidable but it was still rushed and hastily put together. Definitely the weakest season
>>214316483>my cousin was like a brother to me>never mentioned at all, not even in a one-off rememba when line
>>214316194You're crowding me
>>214316488this
The mother of all miscasts.
>>214316194Should've been Turturro. DeNiro comes across as just another Italian gangster rather than a nebbish, numbers whiz gambling professional that John Turturro would've sold. Probably needed DeNiro's name to sell the movie though.
>>214316402my penis remembers that too
>>214316963it was a grim age when he was cast in everything
>>214316580They had to pivot but i dont think the season was remotely weak.
>enjoy Humphrey Bogart kino >finally get to Casablanca >he does okay, but it's still a horrible miscast and a mess of a movie
>>214317125Mess how? Always had a soft spot for it, but maybe I'm gay?
>>214316996But could Turturro have played Tony B?
>>214317143it meanders and has way too many b-plots, some of which would have made for better movies.
>>214316230You have to be 18 to post here
>>214317180I'm thinking definitely
>>214316194Mmmmmboy are you fat!
>>214316963That movie was only made because Orlando was the lead No studio would have produced some movie with literal who actor
>>214316483It’s an issue for Tony B since the emotional component to his story with Tony isn’t there. It feels like we barely knew the guy
I bring the biggest miscast ITT: Tom Holland in Uncharted You know it's bad when rap battles on YouTube can get better casting than this.
>>214317430The logic was that he was a young drake but no one cares about that. People want to see Nathan Drake from the games
Only jeets will say otherwise
>>214317524He's also not young, he's an adult. That's as big as he's going to get. There's no point where he becomes not a short, slim guy that looks like a kid.
>>214317887I dont thin anyone liked this castingt. liked MoS and BvS
>>214317430>Tom Holland as Nate>Marky Mark as Sully>Elena omitted completely>released like a decade after the series was at the height of its popularityJust who the fuck was Uncharted actually made for?
>>214316963thought this was jack grealish for a second
>>214318176I don't know about you but I feel like Marky Mark would've been a good choice for Nate
>>214316194>The Equalizer>Man on Fire>The Book of EliAll of those roles should have gone to Mel Gibson or a gritty hard boiled White guy. Honorable mentions to:>Law Abiding Citizen>CollateralJamie Foxx should have been played by a nerdy yet competent White man.
>>214316194
>>214316247This could've been great if Walken was at least a decade younger and Vilanova actually gave him direction. There were a couple of moments when his old brilliance shone through momentarily>MOAH, GIMME MOAH
>>214318435I will raise you Amy Schumberg in Trainwreck. She was supposed to be something like Cameron Diaz in There's Something About Mary.It was just so unbelievable, what sober man would stick penis into that land whales stinkhole?
>>214317524>>214317430why didn't they get nolan north or nathan fillion?
>>214318580I also wonder why they didn't get fat old C movie actors as a lead for this movie.
>>214318599they weren't fat 10 years ago
Any role that pretends the woman is incredibly hot, but she's in fact quite mediocre looking
>>214316194Holy fuck, this. Buscemi's overall rushed storyline really dragged down Season 5, which was otherwise a really good season. And a famous actor like Buscemi just feels so out of place in the show
>>214318609Fillion was even fatter 10 years ago.
>>214316483in most cases they did a better job of laying the groundwork for it, like feech was someone we'd heard about before hand, I think richie was mentioned before he popped up in 2, etc. blundetto just popped up out of the blue with no ground laid yet we're supposed to believe he and his family were super close to tonys? it was laughable
>>214316194In every movies that casted pedro gayscal, zendaya , Bella Ramsey, gena Ortega,
>>214316194Feech should have been the one killed to prompt Tony B to kill Phil's brother. Instead of that rando old guy that nobody gave a shit about
>>214316483It's just lazy writing
>>214318663We didn't head about them before going in but at least they were just "villains", Tony B was supposed to be Tony's best friend of all time.
>>214316289That was made up lmfao retarded motherfuckers
>>214316289Tony’s charecters entire point was to inflame tensions with NY and le can’t leave le life! MemeWe could have gotten another season of Ralph fucking shit up with New York instead of another revolving door casting of.>out of touch gangster gets out of prison and makes trouble for tony charecterTake your pick they all look the same.
>>214316322Ironic coming from someone who can’t articulate an original thought.
>>214316230Kys
>>214318679You're trying too hard
>>214316247Major miscast
>>214316194He wasn't miscast at all. faggot
>>214316263Based non-tipper
>>214316483>>214317337>>214318663It wasn't ideal, but the way they inserted Tony B was okay given it's fiction. Sure, maybe mention his name a few times in the previous seasons, that would've been better, but it's just not a big problem.
>>214317852Should've been played by Sam Lake himself. He doesn't even need any lines. Just have him make the face all throughout the film and put some audio of Max speaking over it.
>>214320748hi steve
>>214316230That ANIMAL Blundetto, I can't even say his name
>>214316230Same and I've seen him in several Adam Sandler movies.
>>214317200I still think it works better as a stage play instead of a movie.
>>214316194He didn't even fit into the clothes for the role
>>214316363Nah. The fat gay guy was since he already played a completely different character early.
>>214317430Memoryholed before it even came out
>>214316194Harvey Keitel in Red Dragon. Honestly might as well include half of Keitel's roles. He only works in a tough cop or crook role.
>>214316247>35 year old looking redhead
But a very fun miscast that makes the film more enjoyable. It's more fun to have a miscast Harker because otherwise you just get scared british wimp and its boring.
>>214317430This guy is such a gay dweeb
>>214318439>Vilanova actually gave him directionhe doesn't strike me as the type. it seems he's mostly concerned with getting the technical aspects of film right and the performances are mostly up to the actors. he's just blessed to have had mostly good actors in his pictures, which is probably why there's several terrible performances in his dune movies.
>>214320475Nope just telling facts
>>214321983>He only works in a tough cop or crook roletruth
>>214322350>you just get scared british wimp and its boringdefinitely the case in nosferatu.
This fat tub of lard was a horrendous casting for the general in Edge of Tomorrow. No military bearing, no presence, stupid accent, doesn't look or fit the part. It should have been someone more like Stephen Lang. It came off more like the guy had nothing better to do and would work for cheap.
him and Duvall, I can't believe Kubrick engaged in "stunt casting"
>>214316363This happens everywhere. Just watched Godfather II>Michael talking to character nowhere to be seen or mentioned int he first film>"I know you and my father were very close"
>>214318176Nobody knows, anyone who liked uncharted had already played the movie
The entire main cast of Terminator Genisys
>>214316194>>214316289Pleb
>>2143163683 and 5 are the worst. They're still great individually and have a bunch of amazing episodes like University or The Test Dream, but if you take the series as a whole they feel weak in comparison to the others.
>>214316488I couldn't stand his performance. Seemed like fucking Bugs Bunny most of the time.
>>214322309Richard Harris was the perfect, absolute perfect Dumbledore. It was going to be a hard act to follow no matter who they cast and I honestly don't know who could have replaced Harris, maybe Ian Mckellen?
His stupid gurning ruined this and Eternal Sunshine. He's not a real actor and I have no idea why any producer ever thought he was capable of carrying a real film.Robin Williams had some success making the transition from manic wackjob to serious actor. Jim C. never got close.
>>214325175Pleb take
>>214325175Horrific take
>>214316996this is a great one, did not believe that he was a savvy jew for one second, kind of ruins the movie the casting is so bad.
>>214318599fillion is old enough for an uncharted 4 movie at least
>>214322350should've been me with prime winona
>>214316996Yeah, having completely the wrong racial type just doesn't work. The other thing that's a bit silly is Pesci being the terrifying hard man. Not only is he tiny but he's old and fat and out of shape. You can see him huffing and puffing whenever he has to do anything more strenuous than walk across a level floor.Sharon Stone was great though.
>>214325175you're wrong, but they don't really explain in the Truman Show why Truman is so charismatic, I mean what are the chances that Truman was an average, boring kid? He acts like a cheeky fella the whole movie except we know that the set is designed to keep him from doing anything too exciting, so why is he like that?
>>214318637The other way is more common (woman is supposed to be dowdy / ugly but is actually really cute). I guess people just accept this because we don't want genuinely ugly women in films. But sometimes it is a bit absurd when you get some girl who would be beating off the men with a stick and we're supposed to believe she's a sad lonely soul. The first example that comes to mind: Amy Brenneman (De Niro's GF in Heat). We're supposed to believe she is so starved for male attention she hits on De Niro cold in a restaurant? Yeah right.
>>214324232Starts the mubi crazy, just gets crazier. Not believable his family isn't tipped off from the start.
>>214316194Every single actor in the Warcraft movie
>here's your Henry V, bro
I'm probably alone in this. I just can't take Bruce Willis seriously as a romantic actor, and the Leeloo romance felt like such a core part to the narrative by the end.
>>214316194I think he played well in the role, but I always thought the masseuse shit was retarted
>>214316488it was meant to be bad on purpose
>>214325528You’re just dumb
>>214316996Deniro isn’t Italian. Watch an interview from the real guy
>>214326213They didn't even conjure up Captain Planet at the end, what a shit movie.
>>214316263He fits the character well. I believe that guy would refuse to tip and have no issue arguing why while sitting in a restaurant. >>214317430>>214317524Well the "logic" was that Tom Holland is a mega movie star that Sony wants to promote for synergistic success in their spiderman films. What's so bizarre is Marc Wahlberg, while not my first pic, is an infinitely more appropriate choice for playing Nate and an equally bad choice for playing Sulley. To the point I wonder if some suit retard decided they basically needed "two Drakes" so they can get the Gen Z girls and their moms to go see this movie. >>214318580>why didn't they get nolan north or nathan fillion? No one knows who either of those people are, so Sony had zero interest.>>214318599>>214318609I mean, he wasn't lean either. Though I don't doubt he would have gotten in shape for a big role like that
He sounds like he's reciting his lines in this instead of speaking genuine slang. There's no flow to it. A good voice coach could've probably corrected it though so Kubrick deserves a share of the blame for not doing something about it..
Let's cast a pleasantly voiced baritone theater kid to be Count Olaf!
>here's that native texan inventor i was telling you about
>>214326772>No one knows who either of those people areNathan Fillion was popular around the same time as the games, he's had two major tv shows with tons of fans, and now hes in capeslop. sony execs dont watch good tv.
>>214316194Hes the least italian italian guy, he didnt fit at all
>>214325023I feel like it would be hard to fuck up making a decent Hitman movie, and they did it TWICE.
>>214327045I think it's intentional. His character is so out there that he's completely detached from reality. It's all just a performance to him.
Why can't anons just accept that The Sopranos isn't a perfect show? There are tons of retcons and dubbed lines and shit throughout because Chase isn't good at keeping track of details. He often changed direction mid season. So of course he started new seasons by introducing characters that didn't exist. There is exactly ONE example of setting up a plot in the previous season - vito being gay in S5 which went into S6. Every other new plot and character only popped up during its own season. The other coherent example is Feech where they used a character whose name was uttered once in S3, but they weren't planning to show him on screen until S5. They made the show season to season believing that each season finale could be the series finale, that's why you get that montage at the end of each season. That's how TV used to work, multi season contracts were extremely rare except for long running sitcoms that spam 30 low budget episodes a year. You'll notice Chase reveal his ineptitude for detail in TMSON. He was no Kubrick. The show was not planned out from start to finish, and often not even from the start of a season until the end.
>>214327621vito being an extra in the fish shop before becoming vito was the weirdest thing to me
>>214316194Wtf were they thinking??
>>214316194behoold roland niggerain from niggerad!
>>214327720right? he was WAY too tall to play that role
>>214327808And old as fuck! Napoleon was in his early 30's when he coquered Europe
>>214327621who cares, the dialogue and comedic elements are what have kept it relevant for decades
>>214327102>he's had two major tv shows with tons of fans, and now hes in capeslopLet me explain a little more. If I say the name Nathan Fillion at my normie office job, no one will know who I am talking about. If I say Tom Holland or Mark Wahlberg, every single person in the room knows who that is. That is what counts as people "knowing" someone to Sony execs.
A little dyel to be portraying fuckin Hercules, no?
>>214322666honestly I forgot he was even a general, I think my brain just supplemented him as a stereotypical retarded bureaucrat or politician who was promoted through nepotism or the Peter Principle. It had the same effect in the movie anyways.reminds me of the Deputy Secretary from Chernobylhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idb_qsAAe1c
>>214316263Yeah, because he was a PUSSY, lol
>>214316194renner felt extremely out of place for this. not convincing as a scientist/academic type.there were a few scenes where his character is supposed to be slightly meek and unsure, but it's being portrayed by fucking Hawkeye
>>214316230>he's never seen con airi pity you
there can only be the one
>>214328947Cock coordinates?
>>214327080in the film Infinite he's supposed to be blacksmithing and just mildly taps the metal with the hammer in a hilarious wayRobert Downey Jr in Iron Man was one of the few actors doing a forging scene that looked like he was actually hammering metal into a shape
>>214328986> craig_bondpeople say im tinfoil crazy, but i swear that casting was a russian plot to make Putin look cooler
>>214320475no he's trying to hard
>>214316483It's not a problem when they already set up the character as being imprisoned earlier, like with the little anecdotes about Feech La Manna. But Tony B is Tony S's close cousin with a ton of childhood memories together - it's inconceivable that Tony S didn't think about him at least once
>>214316247>here's that 30 year old emperor i was tellin yous about
>>214316194People defend it like "he was supposed to not fit in!" but I think an actor can play that angle and still feel like they're an authentic part of The Sopranos universe. Buscemi didn't.Can't blame him entirely. The way his character was written was pretty lazy and hacky. Like a sitcom where a wacky uncle who is always getting into trouble shows up for one episode, only he was never mentioned/seen before or after that episode. And they packed like three season's worth of material into one with him.
