Why didn't Futurama have the same cultural impact as Family Guy, The Simpsons or even Rick and Morty?
>>
it had more
>>
the first 5 seasons are some of the comfiest, most kino TV ever made
>>
I like it better than all of those things except maybe Rick & Morty, Futurama never should have been revived any "additions" only worsened it
>>
>>214325272
God this show was so good
>>
>>214325317
faggot
>>
>>214325272
Because it kept having production issues and getting cancelled and restarted several times.
>>
>>214325272
Futurama is actually funny. Most people dont have a sense of humor. They only laugh when being told to or when others laugh first.
>>
Futurama isn’t really funny. It’s just “clever”.
>t. I loved futurama when I was in middle school and thought I was smart
>>
>>214327615
It is possibly to cleverly deliver a dumb joke. You are even less smart than you later realized.
>>
Would've left a bigger impact if they never brought the show back

The Comedy Central and Hulu runs of it completely diluted it
>>
>>214328060
Nah, the show is just mediocre as hell. You’re a manchild if you still sit around watching this crap.
>>
>>214326519
Did it actually have production issues? Fox cancelling a show does not reflect on the show. Their executives were fuckwits.
>>
>>214328109
What I said was not specific to this show. Unironically kill yourself.

>he seethes over so little
You have to be 18 to post here.
>>

I rewatched it when it came back to adult swim a few years ago and noticed how flat the humor was. The show ended up being at its best when it wasn't trying to be funny.
>>
>>214328081
it should have stayed a 4 season show. they could have done a spinoff set in the same universe later on if they absolutely had to
>>
Soulless digital animation. Too many duds like the Zoidberg mating episode or The Honking. Overly reliant on gross-out humor like the human Bender episode. Plots are too adventurous and often end with battles or the crew running away from aliens trying to kill them so it's not comfy/stakes are too high for an animated sitcom.
>>
>>214325314
>5 seasons
Are you on about the specials that were cut into a series or actual series 5? Because actual series 5 was shit and nothing is canon post-Into the Wild Green Yonder.
>>
>>214328185
Gotta be more subtle in your "trolling," dude.
>>
>>214329511
The official season structure was reorganized. What is now called four seasons aired originally as five.

You're asking why it had a bigger impact than most of those?
>>
>>214329562
Fair I'm a zoomer so watched it after the originals aired.
>>
Lol at all the over-rationalization in this thread.

It's sci-fi

Normies and females will never like autistic things like scifi.

Hulu Originals™

Too clever for its own good, not that memeable, characters aren't that strong.

There's just something about the drab colors that's so easy to watch
>>
>>214325272
Nearly every Futurama episode was a 22 min homage to a famous scifi movie or a famous twilight zone episode. It was really lazy.
>>
>>214327529
Most of the jokes are really predictable and bad though.
>>
Futurama was to Simpsons what American Dad is to Family Guy. Superior to the original but for some reason people were set in their ways and didn't want to switch.
>>
>>214325272
The first seasons are good but really held back by writer's thinking that Pamela Anderson and the Beastie Boys would still be relevant in the year 3,000. I think I also saw a payphone in the first season.

Futurama was never funny
>>
futurama aged like shit there way too many contemporary (at the time) references
>>
Unironically it was too smart, most retards here don't even finished high school.
>>
It actually ruined Simpsons because all the good writers moved over to Futurama when it started.
>>
>>214330247
American Dad is better written and voice acted. But Family Guy has more cultural influence because gags from any season can become memes at any time.
>>
>>214325272
family guy has impact?
i lost interest in that after the baby stopped trying to kill the mom
altho simpsons is still going i havent watched it in like 15-20 years or more
rick and morty is more impactful then family guy, i never seen toys or merch for family guy, tho i have to assume there is some small amount that exists.....somewhere at one small time period.
>>
>>214325272
I think the problem with futurama is, for the most part, lack of memorable (i.e. memeable) jokes. The most famous futurama episodes among normies are usually the ones that tug at your heartstrings like the dog episode, the episode about Fry's brother, they are all effective as stories but they are about non-characters which make them not really matter to anyone but fans of the show. There are no iconic episodes comparable to early Simpsons or charming stupid jokes like Family guy does.
It's also affected by the fact that dumb people feel intimidated by sci-fi and anything related to space or high tech. I have no idea why this is but a sizeable number of people are completely repelled by sci-fi no matter how high or low concept it is. You have to make it pretty much magic so normies get into it like Rick and Morty

>You have to make it pretty much magic so normies get into it like Rick and Morty
Rick and Morty is one of the worst shows ever made because it tricked its audience into thinking toddler babble and poop jokes were smart. It's actively made television dumber as a medium.

>I think I also saw a payphone in the first season.
The pilot had the joke of what he thought was a phone booth actually being a suicide booth. Later an actual phone booth appeared in a museum of 20th century stuff. You idiot.
>>
>>214329520
Futurama is a mediocre show that has maybe two decent seasons. Where is the troll friend?
>>
>>214325317
yea kys
>>
Ricky and Dicky only exists because of Futurama. It's just purposely anachronistic, a true product of its era.
>>
>>214330258
Naked gun was just in theaters, and it wasn't that long ago everyone was shitting bricks because she visited Julian Assange.
>>
>>214325272
It did but it knew when to leave and we're all kindly forgetting that blip when it didn't again.
>>
>>214331455
It truly was an anachronistic time. (iykyk)
>>
>>214325272
it's unironically too high brow for most people
yeah it has the goofy basic jokes and visual gags, but there's some overarching comedy and a tightness to the writing that flies over most peoples' heads
it also tried to do actual character arcs (albeit very simple ones or ones that would occasionally get forgotten)
famguy and morty are just turbo slop, both kneel to the power of barbatos slim
>>
>>214332512
but is that funny?
