Literally a work of art, perfectly written and meticulously shot so it feels exactly like a classic paperback sci-fi novel but in cinematic form.
>>
>We engineered him to have no ring finger so he could do the shocker better.

Total garbage world building.
>>
>You're a God-Child?
>De-gene-erate
visuals are decent. scripted dialogue is cringey af
>>
That doctor was the emotional lynchpin of the film. What a total broski! my heart swells when he is telling him about his son. Grade a kino!

Nah. I think Dark City is the most underrated movie of all time.
>>
>>214342673
I posted about this movie like two years or so ago and everyone agreed it was fantastic. However I’m sure everyone will shit on it now.
>>
You can 90% of this board has watched less than 200 movies lol

Gattaca is a very well known and well regarded sci-fi flick, it's not obscured or underrated because it isn't Star Wars
>>
>>214342673
Underrated? Yes
Slow as fuck and not a thrill to watch? Also yes
>>
I always wanted to read the celestial navigation book he is doing upside down situps with. I know it isn't real but it looks cool. Just like the human animal in shot caller.
>>
>>214342673
mommy uma is super hot in this film
>>
>>214342888
I was theres 2 years ago and agreed with You .gattaca is one of the Best movies ever
>>
>>214342673
meh
6/10

it was interesting but ultra-boring and tedious. it also insists upon itself HARD.
>>
>just b urself it doesn't matter if you have a defective heart!!! you can swim just as good!!
brainwashing flick to keep goy slaves trying until they expire
that's why they show this in school
>>
>>214342673
Literal propaganda to push whites into self suicide.
Portraying surrender and self defeat agains those who are inferior to you as a virtue.
Classic jew subversion.

feel free to kill yourself whenever you get the chance

This is why I think it's overrated. It's surprisingly and sadly a snoozer. It's got heart though.

>>
there should have been more action. at least 1 shootout.
they predicted EVs and gene edited babies.
>>
>>214343211
you never had any and never will
>>
>>214343309
and that's ok
human lives aren't about dollars and cents
but the slave drivers don't want people hearing that truth nuke. they want them on the hamster wheel as hollywood flicks suggest
>>
>>214342673
Is it actually good?

I watched it back in high school whenever one of the science teachers called in sick and the substitute wheeled in the TV cart. It was either that, The Century of the Self by Adam Curtis or Walking With Dinosaurs; I guess those are what they had sitting around in the staff room.

Needless to say, wasn't really paying attention to it at the time.
>>
>>214342673

Uma Thurman was the worst part of the movie but even with her, it's still kino.
>>
>>214343790
Nothing wrong with little old cute bighead.
>>
>>214343343
I wasn't talking about money, dummy
>>
>>214343736
it's ok but it's hollywood cliche feel good stuff

if you guys are interested in genes and biology you should check out human behavioral biology lectures by robert sapolsky (free on youtube)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNnIGh9g6fA
or his book/audiobooks such as "determined"
>>
>>214343933
I actually don't want to provide any use to anyone
that only encourages more people being brought into existence against their will
that's how the pyramid scheme works
better still if there is some debt or cost involved in generating new people
>>
gattaca is an interesting movie because it makes you wonder if life could really be perfected where everyone is a designer baby without defects or major inequalities and live in paradise

but of course, (spoilers) it goes in the total opposite direction, where the hero in the story is instead randomly generated with a heart defect, yet he just believes in himself, or something dumb like that, and is able to swim really hard and save the day. It is a mockery of all the defects that people have that end their lives abruptly or make them miserable all the time. it's a movie about justifying the random generation of people for the purpose of enslaving them for profit.
>>
>>214344276
>I actually don't want to provide any use to anyone
yeah, we know, but I'll bet you expect lots of other people to provide use to you. you expect the power company to provide you with electricity, you expect your ISP to provide you internet, you expect other people to provide you with threads to shit up, you expect mommy and daddy to provide you with food, shelter, and a bed time story when you've been a good little boy.
>>
>>214344623
that's their choice
it's not like that stuff will suddenly run out. only this pyramid scheme of infinite growth overpopulation makes that an issue
a gradual decline to zero population would end all suffering in a smooth and agreeable way for all living people imo

any other kinos with this kind of similar 90s sci fi vibe?
>>

No it is full of cringe.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT type levels of writing.

>>214343248
>more action. at least 1 shootout.
t would been known, as a generic sci-fi action movie with fillers, and it would loose its stillness and elegance, that the architecture and style provides.

the stance about the message can change, but the visuals carry the film and make it beautiful.
>>
>>214342874
Dark city falls apart towards the end.

>>214343248
you're definitely american so go to bed. you have a long day of bin collecting tomorrow.

Dark City is a 5.5/10 overall.

What was it like in the books?
I always found it odd in the movie why the parents knowingly crippled their child basically

If the ubermensch ever became real they’d not direct ire us normies but rather treat us like we do Walmart employees with Down syndrome and care for us with kid gloves.
>>
>>214342888
Zoom zoom here. Gattaca blew me away when I saw it with my mom “im a degenerate” was fucking cringe tho
>>
>>214347119
Wat if a uber girl falls in love with me like in gattaca? Wat do i do
>>
>>214347105
I don't remember that well but I think it was something with some insane increase of calories requirement just to function later in life, which made their lives increasingly stressful and hectic.
It was nothing apocalyptic, but it was a drawback, unlike the movie where not going through with it made parents objectively evil.
>>
>>214342673
>perfectly written
why didn't the super corporation have security cameras to see how the old man died?
>>
>>214344276
it's time to stop posting, Rust from true detective schizo
>>
>>214347236
>increase of calories requirement
Doesn't seem like a huge deal honestly. Should be a dream to most.
>>
>>214347286
That's what I mean, drawback was small and it happened much later so they didn't know at first, but it was a drawback.
Not having any has severe implication for characters.
>dad, why am I 5'4 and bald? A small brain aneurysm in my mid 30s also didn't help
>well, you see son ummmmm....
>>
>>214347218
Umm sweetie that’s kinda problematic, you literally can’t consent

Some of the people saying it is great will also write racist stuff online not understanding it.

Dark City? More like Dark Shitty. Haha jk it was a weird movie.

if you let his dad gene edit his height and hair, you also let hitler gene edit people into werewolves or whatever he was getting up to

oh gee I wonder.. perhaps the director is at fault?

>>
>>214342859
Main character is a jew trying pretending to be an Aryan.
>>
>>214348099
>sorry son, you got heart attack because Hitler was allegedly making werewolves 100 years ago

>>214348264

>>214342673
>NOOO NOOO NOOOOO!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN *YOU* DON'T WANT TO BE JANNITOR AND LIVING YOUR WHOLE LIFE IN THIS DULL BORING PLANET!?!?!?
>NOOOOOO YOU CANNOT LEAVE THIS ROCK AND GO TO SPACE!! YOU DON'T HAVE LE SUPERIOR GENES OR ALGO!!!
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!
>>
The message is stupid though

You have to know your strengths and limitations. Not this bullshit larp everyone is equal with effort.

Not everyone can be an Olympic swimmer with enough training. You have to have good body and lungs.

A stocky person is not going to do ballet as well no matter what they do. And so on.

So basically if the drawback from the book is still canon and they just hadn't figured it out yet or didn't mention it in the film they declared the experimental gene therapy safe and effective to usher in a caste system to overhaul society in which people who don't take it are persecuted.
That'll never happen.
>>
>>214346037
Trump has made it it illegal so never.
>>
>>214348841
Having blonde hair was never a requirement for being an Aryan. That's high school history propaganda. Who owns the companies that make all the textbooks?
>>
>>214349387
True, after all German socialists claimed that asians were Aryans.
