What are some essential movies about loneliness?

>>
True loneliness (male) has never been depicted because normies who makes films could never truly conceptualise it
It would also be extremely boring to watch
>>
>>214371271
melancholia
lost in translation
those are the two that come to my mind.
>>
>>214371271
>I'm so lonely a bloo bloo
Zoomers are hopeless.
>>
Lost In Translation
Taxi Driver
>>
>tfw most movies about "loneliness" still have the character live an exciting life in some way

have there been any actually accurate depictions of male loneliness in cinema? where a man just goes to work, comes home to his empty apartment, stays in all weekend, and repeats the process the next week?
>>
>>214371271
un homme qui dort
>>
Do you guys actually not have any friends? If so, how long have you not had any friends? Isnt it hard? I went from having a beautiful group of friends to having none because im a problem
>>
>>214371271
I love wang kai war but isn't this movie about a gay couple? How is it about loneliness if he found a gay partner?
>>
>>214373143
The thing about friendship is the constancy of it. You either maintain it as a ritual or it falls off.
If it does not occur naturally to you, then you won't be able to do it, because it will feel like a job.
>>
>>214372006
Kubrick could have
>>
>>214373143
Everybody is just a boring disrespectful fucking asshole.
>>
>>214373286
Homosexuals are promiscuous but not affectionate, most of them being borderline sociopathic. Also in the film he goes to Argentina to heal from the relationship that has left him broken and stunted his capacity to love and he is alone most of the time aside for work in a restaurant
>>
>>214373143
I have a girlfriend but no other friends because I hate people
>>
>>214372006
It would just be a mostly silent film following an average dude going about his days, completely unnoticed by external stimuli
>>
>>214373383
That's not true, I happily hang out with my old friend whenever they get dumped by their gfs even if I have not seen them in years
>sorry bro we didn't watch football and drunk le beer for too long the rituals just aren't there we are no longer frens
No wonder you don't have friend you autismo
>>
>>214373583
>it's everyone's fault except me!
Fatherless behavior.
>>
>>214373626
>completely unnoticed by external stimuli
stimuli is something that is observed that something that does observe, you have made a categorical error you stupid bitch.
>>
>>214373816
not something that does observe*
>>
>>214371271
I'm not lonely enough. People really annoy me.
>>
>>214373816
No I mean the things that stimulate don’t even deign to notice the lonely man you FAGGOT
>>
>>214371271
>>

Shut the fuck up retard
>>
not a flick but it handles the loneliness
>>
>>214373981
>tfw watched this over a decade ago, pulled myself out of the hole, spent 5 years in a long relationship and working, had everything fall apart, continued trodding along in life miserable, and then I watch it again
Holy shit
>>
The only time I truly feel lonely is when I'm forced to go to social obligations with normalfags. Extended family etc.
When I'm forced to sit their and listen to stories about their normal lives, what their kids are doing, home renovations etc, that is when I feel truly alienated from the common human experience. My life and theirs are galaxies apart.
>>
>>214371271
will i like this movie if i'm incel or is it depressing?
>>
>>214374036
Probably not. It's not for retards.

Steam of life
>>
People who experience the feeling of loneliness literally have underdeveloped monkey brains. Unfit for modern society.
>>
>>214371271
This short film I watched recently does a great job of creating a sense of dullness and loneliness.

I have one friend. Used to have two, but then the third guy died while on a hike. In college I had about a dozen but the second college ended nobody but those two was interested in maintaining the friendship. About half of that dozen would come out for a drink if you asked them to and we'd have a fun time together but besides those two, nobody else ever initiated the meetings. At one point I gave up, didn't call anyone for a couple of years and only those two ever reached out.
Had three work friends too, people I really liked but they quit the company and moved on, I tried maintaining contact and it worked for a couple of years, but again, I was the only one who ever initiated contact and when I stopped, we lost touch.
Is it hard? Nah. Most of the time I'd rather be alone anyway, most of the things I like doing don't require other people. Whatever people have that makes them form lasting relationships and desire other people's company, I just don't have it. Those other people who drifted away from my life aren't loners, they just stuck with other friend groups outside of our college/work group. The two friends I mentioned also have other friend groups I'm only casually acquainted with.
>>
>>214373629
Nta Maybe in your retarded brain it's true. Come back to me when the person didnt contact you after 20 years. I try talk to my friends every other week.
>>
>>214373143
Yeah, about 10 years, yeah it really sucks but it's hard to find your way out of.
>>
>>214373143
It's too much effort to maintain friendships. It's easier to just have acquaintances you talk to every now and then or become a barfly and enjoy the company of other barflies.

I'm what you would call a "lonely" man but I never really feel it that way since I value my time alone. I chose to be alone.

Nevertheless, the loneliness would only hit me during the Holidays since I have to visit my parents and see my brothers and sistees with their families.

>Attempts to make a VN for easy money and fails
>Takes one creative class, and gets too embarrassed to show his work and leaves humiliated
>His Otaku friend eventually gets his shit together and leaves
>Parents can't support him anymore, so he works construction to maintain a one room apartment
I hate that my life is so stereotypical.
>>
>>214373981
>I live in Japan, my parents pay my rent, and I can do whatever I want all day
>AHHH I'M GOING INSANE
>>
I'm tired of the wagie charade. They've been laying off people for a year in my office. I have a decent amount saved up. I just want to get my severance, live off my savings for a few years and end it. I've flailed at acquiring meaningful relationships, why bother participating in society any more.
I was unemployed leaving off the dole for six months a couple of years ago and it's the happiest I've been since childhood. Just walking around parks enjoying nature and listening to audiobooks, pursuing hobbies and learning a new language. No faggot work to get in the way

>>
>>214377067
wish there was a sequel to this. really enjoyed moon. any recs for something very similar?

What you're describing isn't true loneliness, it's true stupidity.
>durr, durr, being lonely is not having any thoughts in your head

>>214373881
Oh really? Does the lonely man not spend his life chasing online dopamine hits, playing video games, and jerking off to porn?
>>
>>214375886
>and end it
You don't have to end it.
>I was unemployed leaving off the dole for six months a couple of years ago and it's the happiest I've been since childhood.
Same here, even considering I spent like 7-8h a day learning programming.
My plan is get a simple/part time job once I buy a house and work the minimum I can get away with.
I have no idea what kind of insane person can put up with working 8h a day for 40 years without going ballistic.
>>
>>214373101
Yes, tons of movies start with the MC living an empty dead end life. The difference is something happens that makes him pursue better things, for better or worse.
>>
>>214377067
I watched this yesterday, overall it was good but considering it was rather short and I saw the twist coming from a mile away it felt rather forgettable.
>>
>>214377166
Well we didn't forget it (we're talking about it).
I saw the film as an abstraction of the mind; what goes on internally in the isolation of the self.
Like his clones are just different versions of him that his interaly deals with. The AI Gertie acts as his voice of reason. The corporation goons act as death and the mass driver back to a realer reality acts as salvation; he transcends that confined life on the moon he was condemned too. I like stories like that where the main character realizes he's in a rigged game and rigs his way out.

This is why it's so important to get married. You have a best friend by your side your whole life, who can you can also hug cuddle and fuck, look after you when you're sick and old, etc. If you're single in your late 30s it's pretty much over.
>>
>>214371271
What a boring movie topic.
If you're not lonely why would you care?
If you're lonely why would you want to see a movie about it?
>>214373143
Several months, before that had friends for years, before that had no real friends I was in touch with for some years.
I reconnected with some friends after my mother died but in the process eventually found out they were all communists/furries/pedophiles/antifas/tumblrcunts now, so I one by one detached from all of them as I found more out about them, and moved to a new state (no reason to live there anymore + full of retards)
Since I moved I've had health and money troubles and been pretty tired, change jobs about once a year for some reason or other.
I'm not a problem and naturally make friends wherever I go, in fact I guess I was friends with the gas station clerk lady before she retired and I guess I'm friends with the corner store cashier lady now, more or less, you know on a surface level where I never have to hear too much about their terrible lifestyles or so on. And actually my neighbors are my friends too I guess, that's just them being friendly and me reciprocating mostly.

But no real friends, no. I was always a positive, happy, honest guy, no plans to ever become a pessimist or a misanthrope, but you all wanted to be evil edgy retarded baby killing seething bolsheviks, or whatever, or pedophiles, sluts, druggies, animal fuckers, fags and trannies, so on, so on, I'm just not dumb enough to desire more interaction with the general public. I can't bear to "network", I hate "social engineering", I'd rather work terrible jobs than lie in interviews, and I can't even motivate myself to emulate an evil person long enough to get a good wfh job with no human interaction so I just stock shelves on night shift part time and suffer listening to my retard coworkers here and there.
It's not all that bad though.

I don't think a film about some loser sitting in his mom's basement complaining about how the jews (he's never met one) are ruining his life
>>

yeah he does.
he ends his cycle.
(the film tackles to concepts of reincarnation)

>what kind of insane person can put up with working 8h a day for 40 years without going ballistic.
yeah this has to be a normbot thing. or i guess a having dependants thing. if i had to maintain a family life, with a wife, kids, mortgage, new car every decade, I might force myself to work all my life. but i don't so i can't. soon as my parents die i'm checking the fuck out
