I've never actually read Wuthering Heights and I have no idea what the plot is aside from the lead character being an hunky sadboi named Heathcliffe and Margot Robbie (I presume) dying and becoming a ghost. What's it actually about?
>>214380216a fat dad realizes his retarded son has a hidden talent for cooking and is so distinguished at it that the dad invites his other boomer friends over for dinner to have the son’s food, but in exchange for cooking dinner, the son has one of his dad’s boomer friends do his homework for him. the next day, the son tells his dad that he failed his book report and to tell his friend that, “no one in wuthering heights carried a lightsaber.”

>>214381052somebody please make a cumberbatch brexit meme with this on it, i need the laff
>>214380216>Rich family adopts poor orphan boy named Heathcliff (implied to be the father’s bastard son).>Heathcliff falls in love with his adopted sister Catherine and gets bullied by his adopted brother Hindley because their father favors Heathcliff.>After the parents die, Hindley becomes master of the house and forces Heathcliff to become a servant. He swears revenge.>Hindley marries a woman who dies at the birth of their son Hareton.>Catherine marries their rich neighbor Edgar Linton and confesses to housekeeper Nelly Dean she could never marry Heathcliff because he’s poor.>Heathcliff disappears and returns years later, now rich. He forces Hindley to sell him their house, Wuthering Heights. After Hindley dies, Heathcliff forces Hareton to become his servant and abuses him.>Heathcliff marries Edgar’s sister Isabella to spite Catherine. Catherine dies at the birth of her daughter Cathy. Heathcliff digs up her corpse and becomes haunted by her ghost.>Isabella leaves Heathcliff when she realizes he is only using her, and later dies at the birth of her and Heathcliff’s son Lindon, who is claimed by Heathcliff.>Edgar dies, making Heathcliff master of both Wuthering Heights and the Linton property, Thrushcross Grange. He grooms Cathy to marry the sickly Lindon, but he dies not long after.>Cathy falls in love with Hareton, and Heathcliff is buck-broken by the realization Hareton didn’t become spiteful like he did and Cathy isn’t shallow like Catherine was.>Heathcliff gets sick and dies, leaving his house and fortune to Cathy and Hareton, who marry, move to Thrushcross Grange, and live relatively happily ever after, while the ghosts of Heathcliff and Catherine reunite and haunt Wuthering Heights.
>>214380216I read it and remember nothing. Just that some guy named Heathcliff was relaly mean, and a lot of babbling.
>>214381592To be more specific, lots of family brawls too.
>>214381444>Heathcliff marries Edgar’s sister Isabella to spite Catherine. Catherine dies at the birth of her daughter Cathy. Heathcliff digs up her corpse and becomes haunted by her ghost.Women schlick themselves to this.
Margot Robbie is too old for this role.
>>214381444>Heathcliff is buck-broken by the realization Hareton didn’t become spiteful like he did and Cathy isn’t shallow like Catherine was.Oddly wholesome.
>>214381444This Heathcliff guy sounds like a real jerk!
>>214381444Do women really consider this romantic?
>>214380216B A S Q U E is the nu black.
>>214380216Read the book, you philistine. It’s great.
[Hanged man cum frontal view image]
>>214383306actually its not considered to be a romance novel. expect the film version to miss the point and make Catherine more important, that's usually what happens.
The thing is he has major gay face and she's menopausal
>>214381444It's like Cinderella meets Great GatsbySounds boring
>>214382208Wuthering Heights is one of the most Christian novels there is. Heathcliff does every sin possible and , like The Dark Knight's Joker, tries to prove anyone in his shoes would do the same, and fails miserably. His evilness was a choice, not destiny.
>>214381444>Three deaths at childbirthBit hacky, innit?
Another flavor of the week straight-to-letterboxd non-movie.
>>214379664This is gonna flop.
>>214379664The nonly acyually good thing she was in was I Tonya, Which is brilliant.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXZQ5DfSAAc
>>214384949It was a different time.
what is this, Minas Morgul? what are these giant random rock formations?
>>214384949>>Three deaths at childbirthpretty normal then some and still happends even now as you may well find out kid when you grow up and become a man
>>214384949[t did actually happen to her elder sister Charlotte, the only one who managed to lose her V card. but Emily had no way of foreseeing that.
>>214385090lake district UK
>>214384523People also have an obsession with Heathcliff being a HECKIN' POC but I am not convinced. The ethnic English are a light people, nevermind gentry in fucking Yorkshire. A dark haired, dark eyed, tanned white man actually sticks out amongst them the way men of such colouring do even now in the 99% white towns, villages, etc. And people like Hindley really want to shit on Heathcliff - attacking him as a mutt, a lascar, etc. because he's darker than them and make him more of an 'other' is in keeping with that character. Shit, we see real world parallels with men of a far higher pedigree than Heathcliff, i.e. Jacky Fisher attacked by his enemies for being some Malay mutt. My interpretation was that he was always simply swarthy/dark enough to stick out amongst the Earnshaws/surrounding community and in a way that it could be weaponized against him to hurt him, not that he was unambigiously some half caste negro or Indian mutt.
>>214383306Dark romantic in the classic sense. Involved in drama and love but not designed to be a happily ever after
>>214384949>3 published female novelists from the same Yorkshire family, two of them great>all die before reaching 40 along with their brother?
>>214381444Trash ape
Wuthering Heights is in fact kino
>>214385140those aren't there, they've been obviously CGI'd in. also the setting of the novel is not near the Lake District.
>>214385199It needs a dalit Bollywood version. I'm sure one exists already, head wobble and all.
>>214385199usual interpretation is that he was a bastard child of the WH patriach with some woman he fucked while overseas in the colonies. he's referred to as a gypsy because that's the closest to a non-white anyone in the area will have ever encountered. it's not really a fringe interpretation.
>>214385199>A dark haired, dark eyed, tanned white man actually sticks out amongst them the way men of such colouring do even now in the 99% white towns, villages, etc.Should also add this and my persepctive is informed by my life, i.e. I have such a colouring as someone born and raised in south England with Welsh/Scottish parents and so many times I've had some coo I look exotic or been questioned if I am 'British-British' or 'actually English' - shit, as the beginning of the 2010s neared I got into an argument with someone at my school after I had tanned from holidays and he started calling me Indian/Asian soon into the argument kek. That kind of shit makes me suspect Heathcliff got shit on from a sort of racialist lense without actually being a full blown non-white
>>214379664That song is banging, the comments section is alight with critiques.
>>214383306Absolutely not, women fiction needs at least 3 big rapes, 6 small rapes and tons of incest to be palatableI wish I was joking. Since this is /tv/ there is an isekai show called Outlander and even the male leads are raped at least twice each season, it got 7 seasons and there is not stops in the rape train.
>>214385090kek, the fact that Wuthering Heights needs MCU tier CGI is quite funny and sad at the same time
>>214379664it will almost definitely be bad but I will enjoy it a lot
>>214385516>not stops in the rape trainKinda based
>>214379664Jacob is box office poison
>>214385516>it got 7 seasons and there is not stops in the rape train.
>>214381444>Cathy falls in love with Hareton, and Heathcliff is buck-broken by the realization Hareton didn’t become spiteful like he did and Cathy isn’t shallow like Catherine was. This won't be in the movie, of course.Hollywood only knows how to adapt Heathcliff's romance, Hollywood has no clue how to adapt Heathcliff's slow realization that the victory of revenge is hollow, and that perpetuating the cycle of cruelty doesn't make you happy.
>>214386192So it's kind of like count of monte christo if the story continued for 50% more page time
>>214379664HEATHCLIFF ITS ME IM CATHY!!!!!!
Why do all romance films now feature older women with younger men?
>>214379664should've been samara weaving
I’ll watch this JUST because all the comments for this are seething women. Insufferable pinterest/twitter women at that
>>214385219LMAO
Now that capeshit is dying, are we going back to adapting movies about books?
>>214386192This. It will be one couple having le forbidden sexo behind their partners with Austin Powers tier innuendo in between>>214386219Or The Prestige where Nolan ignore like 1/3 of the book that ties everything together.
>>214379664Margot does not have the face for period pieces
>>214386639lowkey agree, i guess they are relying on the barbie fanbase to keep it alive. The days of kino female faces are long dead.
>>214385516Alright alright I'm sold
>>214381444Sounds... not awful? But the movie will probably make Catherine a stronk wombyn who don't need no man or something, and there will be black and asian nobles roaming around.
>>214386426They are so smug for reading one of the most popular books of all time, one more interpretation to add to the 15 versions of it isn’t the end of the world. Calm the fuck down. I don’t even think it will be a true adaptation anyway and the big twist will be Margot Robbie is imagining herself and the people around her in the story.
>>214386639Agree, she has some 80's bimbo energy, like picrel
>>214387152GIWTWM
>>214379664The music choices in the trailer better not be in the movie, because they will date it like ass. In 10 years it'll be like listening to Dubstep today. Otherwise the cinematography and costuming/sets look ok.
>>214388148its already confirmed charli xcx did original music for it, its the gatsby all over again
>>214388148It's from the same hag who did Saltiburn so expect something like Sofia Coppola for zoomers
>>214379664Ok, I will now watch your movie
>>214388961Hindley is relentlessly handsome.
>>214388434Gatsby soundtrack was fucking awesome, Old sport.
>>214381444Women have the worst taste in literally everything. How is this acclaimed?
>>214389627Didn't your parents ever teach you "Don't judge a book by its greentext"?
>>214379664This looks like 50 Shades of Gray set in Victorian England. lol
>>214387152Does the fish represent the smelly unbathed Victorian pussy?

>>214389823Georgian, I think the open fish mouth is symbolic for a vagina.
>>214389774>gray

>>214381444This is the guy who's playing Edgar Linton btw but his sister who marries Heathcliff is White
>>214383774He has longer lashes than her! They were in a Guadagnino commercial together and she mogged him every way. But he's gud at played cruel sketchy dudes
>>214383774>he has major gay face But enough about you.
Anon, it's me, I'm CathyI've come home, I'm so coldLet me in your window
>>214386639God yes, she looked incredibly out of place in Babylon. Her outfits didn't help either.
>>214381444I think I saw this movie on TCMI watched it when my dog was dying so it was like water on a ducks back
>>214388148>Otherwise the cinematography and costuming/sets look ok.Retards are seething about the costumes being inaccurate for the time, especially the wedding dress. But storytelling through costuming is much more important than historical accuracy.
>>214395289>this movieYou’ll have to be more specific. There are 16.
Does Margot have bigger tits post-pregnancy or are they still small?
'tis some proper gynoslopbitches love riding that emotional rollercoasterself-inserting themselves in every scene
>>214381444So it's just a shitty romance version of The Count Of Monte Cristo then
>>214398053basically yest. english major
>>214379664Elordi is too tall and not charismatic enough. (Screw the idiots saying hE's wHiTe!!1 ...he's called 'dark' in the book but Anglo characters were also described as such in books back then, because there are different British complexions. Some are lighter than others. Heathcliffe's background is never specified. Also, he is directly described as "turning pale" in the book. Hard to go pale if you're brown. Also, Margot is far too old for the role.
>>214397579she had a newborn when they were filming so probs bigger
>>214398217>charismatic>heathcliff
>>214398053The books were published a year apart from each other.
