Doesn't anywhere close to approach the level of the James Gurney book. It should've been done as a big-budget movie, or series of movies.

Visually, it was more like Dinotopia than previous Star Wars. Dinotopia was such a breath of fresh air when the book was first published. Nothing in the mainstream looked like it.

Remember when Fox was doing Independence Day, and WB did Mars Attacks. Paramount was doing Deep Impact, so Touchstone did Armageddon? Pixar had a CG ant movie, so Dreamworks did too, then they were doing CG Fish movies, and then animated rat movies. Dante's Peak vs Volcano. Why should any studio allow another to have a monopoly on something inherently commercial like dinosaurs.

>>214386116Shame, but I don't know if he could have gotten away with it, Mars Attacks has plenty of gore, but its a lot of people getting zapped with rays and turned into skeletons and ash (and just ignore the whole proto EDF part of the card series where they supersize a bunch of bugs to terrorize cities). You can try to drop the washington monument boyscouts, but I don't think you can have dinosaurs eating children without being rated XXX.
