They aren't shit, quite similar to the OT actually, in all aspects imaginable. The audience grew up and changed and could no longer stomach 70's-tier cheese. George is a simple autist that only ever did things his way and got carried by John Williams' score.

Realizing this it becomes easy to give comparing them in depth a rest and enjoy any of them for a rewatch as much as the next
