>>214412609Isn't that the horrible dreadlocked monster who viciously killed an innocent human and is universally hated by all decent human beings as Public Enemy Number One?
>>214412474I haven't seen the second one, is it worth it?

>Up ahead was Avatar 3. You grew up hearing about it, but I never believed I'd be going there.

>>214413171It's a solid action picture and very pretty, if nothing else. Whether you truly enjoy it is a matter of taste. It's best seen in the theater, and you have an opportunity to do so in the near future. I liked it very much, but it's not nearly as good as the original IMO because Jake's central conflict has been resolved: he has picked a side. There are some anons here who regularly report actually liking it better than the original, I politely disagree. My favorite thing about the second film is that it reminded me how much I genuinely loved the original. I did get a bit emotional during the climax, it was designed to get that sort of response, but some people may not be receptive to it.What I know for sure is that it was still in theaters like 3-4 months after release and it was still getting lots of business at that very late stage, not like when a movie's been in the theater for a three weeks and maybe 6-8 people attend an afternoon matinee or something. My later screenings had like three dozen and two dozen people in the room each time, and these were afternoon/evening screenings when the film was playing at the very back of the theaters, on the low-end rooms. And it wasn't just singleton nerds, it was couples and various age groups. The broad appeal of the franchise is very real, and /tv/ just can't stand it.Now that I think about it, I had something very interesting happen on my second (IIRC) screening, earlier in the run. During Neteyam's death, a decently dressed older woman (60s or so), apparently normal and intelligent, sitting next to me became (quietly) very emotional, and after a few minutes, she excused herself and left the room. Some time later, her husband must have gone after her. Perhaps she lost a son herself, I don't know, but the point is that the film produced a sincere emotional reaction. It made her feel something.
>>214413492Oh, the drums during that. Instantly sucking you into the new world. I still play the soundtrack CD in the car from time to time. The sequel soundtrack CD has a horrible mix, way too loud, "Loudness Wars".
>>214413492By the grace of Eywa, it is getting so close
>>214413605lmao who approved this?
>>214413605The Braille on Norm's cap means "1969", the year of the first human Moon landing. Also, when you're paying attention during the second movie, as the ISVs drop their landers and simultaneously scorch the earth below, you can see "LM" at the top of the frame as the hatch opens and releases hyoomon troops, dozers, amps etc. the "LM" (which might stand for "Landing Module") is a clear reference to the Apollo Lunar module.
>Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose!
>>214412766One of the many things I'm looking forward to in Fire and Ash is his return.
Are they going to rerelease the first Avatar in 3D? I still haven't seen it that way. Apparently it sucks less in 3D.
Avaatar-anon? You are the best part of this board.
