Isn’t it odd how the cast of SNL used to be generational with older talent leaving the show for younger people to take center stage? And now the old guys never leave if they can’t help it and the new recruits get pushed out before they even get the chance to shine? Weird!
>>214413159It’s almost like the show used to be a launching pad to better opportunities but those don’t exist anymore!
Ever notice how you never see an older cast member in the exact same place as a younger cast member at the exact same time? Very suspicious.
>>214413159>Older cast member is funnier than younger cast member>Younger cast member is unfunny and gayFaggots on /tv/ who drink nigger sperm: "why da funny ones stay and da unfunny ones go?"
>>214414977Why are you angry?
>>214413312True. In the past many successful movie careers were launched by SNL, but the studios barely put out comedies anymore. If you weren't big enough to be in films, at least you could land a supporting role on a sitcom, but those are mostly gone too. What is the path for comedians these days, hope that your podcast will stand out among a thousand other comedians? Or are all the new "comedians" coming from youtube or tick-tock channels?

This is a problem with hollywood in general
>>214413159the target audience is Boomers and older Gen Xers. why on earth would anyone young watch that abomination of a show?

>>214413159No, it’s not strange. It’s called job security. It’s way harder to make a living now than it was 30-40 years ago.The show used to have seasons that were really badly received that they would as a result can most of the cast. That was a necessity when it was in danger of straight out cancellation. Today SNL is doing enough consistently that it doesn’t have to resort to massive cast changes. You also had people staying for several seasons back in the day while one or two people in the cast who had popularity would do movies on the side, have success, and then quit because it was more lucrative to make films and TV was seen as inferior place to work. That isn’t the case anymore. TV has much more prestige now but offers less security because they don’t make many 26 episode seasons and shows don’t run for 7-9 seasons. Most shows just do 13 episodes now. So it makes sense to stick around at SNL if you’re not hating every single minute of it. It’s a steady paycheck and in theory you can make connections and network enough to leverage something for yourself when you do ultimately leave. If you can’t get a solo project off the ground lot of people today start doing VA work which is fairly okay gig.
