You get 90% of the way there by treating it like a mockumentary but spooky, and the other 10% by getting creative and breaking the fourth wall and making it about how it's actually a documentary about the film crew making the movie of the book blah blah 4 more layers. And if you make it a Netflix or amazon show or whatever they can have some balls and put the name of whoever's Netflix account it is into the show a few times, like first it shows up on some paper documents on screen and makes people do a double take and then later on someone addresses you by name.
