cast it
>>214413485would never get made because nobody would invest money into it because there would be no market for it. and even if it were able to be made, it would cut down and chopped up to shit. it would need to be at least six hours long and you’d have to get someone like matthew barney to direct it but then it would probably be some kind of exclusive art piece you can only watch in museums or some shit. it would never work as a commercial feature nor should it.
Jason Minoa as the Minotaur (like in Scorpion King)
>>214413674there's no fucking minotaur
>>214413485Idris Elba as the five and a half minute hallway.
>>214413699There is in the movie
>a book about a guy and his book about a moviehow do you film it?
>Scarier than house of leaves but is a true story>Literally impossible to cast and film
>>214413699Holloway can hallucinate a shadow minotaur in the movie version. Doesn't have to be a real living creature.. hallucinated Jason Minoataur gets the point across visually while staying true to the spirit of the books
>>214413827downloading it now. is it similar? without spoilers
>>214413627>>214413818Anyone who says this is unfilmable is an imagination free dipshit. You get 90% of the way there by treating it like a mockumentary but spooky, and the other 10% by getting creative and breaking the fourth wall and making it about how it's actually a documentary about the film crew making the movie of the book blah blah 4 more layers. And if you make it a Netflix or amazon show or whatever they can have some balls and put the name of whoever's Netflix account it is into the show a few times, like first it shows up on some paper documents on screen and makes people do a double take and then later on someone addresses you by name.
>>214413827Is Baal or Moloch in it?
Michael Cera or Daniel Radcliffe as LudeBarry Keoghan as the tattoo artistScarlett Johansson as the tatto'd womanToni Colette as Lude's insane momDanny Trejo as Zampano
>>214413902It's essentially a scientific whitepaper about how the ancient ground of the middle east itself and by extension the black crude oil under it is a living entity with a will that asserts its influence against humanity. It's fascinating.>>214413941In a way, yes. Just about any kind of spritual entity that has ever been written about in the middle east is mentioned in the book
>>214413930i never said it was unfilmable and it’s nothing to do with imagination but the logistics. you don’t know how the film business works. where the fuck would somebody even get the money to make this? it wouldn’t come from one of the major studios. >netflix they would fuck it up like they fuck everything up. it blows my mind how fucking stupid you subhumans are.
>>214413962Will Arnett or Patrick Wilson as Navidson the videographer, maybe Bradley Cooper
>doors?
>>214413930This. It's literally just three stories that are nested on top of one another. Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest has a similar nested storyline, the only difference is in House of Leaves it's actually relevant rather than just something most people forget about.
so instead of finding pages and notes, he finds usb sticks and film reels?
>>214414116Kevin James or the lead guy from From, as Holloway. Zach Woods (Jared from Sillicon Valley) as part of Holloway's group
>>214414027>>214413627you are a fucking retard, it's a high selling book of course a major studio or streamer would want to adapt it
>>214413485This book is so fucking gay, just read post modern novels
>>214413962Lude isnt johnny you idiot
>>214415328This post is so fucking gay, just stop being a retard
>>214413627>even if it were able to be made, it would cut down and chopped up to shitBut the book is already like that?
I wonder if instead of a movie or miniseries this would be better adapted as a series of YouTube videos, or spread across a few different platforms
>>214413485>backrooms for boomers
>>214415596backrooms but cooler
>>214415337all you do is criticize. Contribute for once
Finn Wolfhard as Hal IncandenzaZendaya as as Mario IncandenzaLena Dunham as the U.S.S. Millicent KentSydney Sweeney as PGOAT
>>214415596More like generation X
I think that everything depends on the success of things like the backrooms and the Alan Wake adaptation.
Junkie's story = Lake MungoNavidson Chronicle = SkinamarinkYou just need to figure out a way to stick them together with glue and it'll work
>>214413699There's very clearly a minotaur, read the footnotes
>>214413485Why is it that we all converged on the same books? My path to this particular one was through haruki murakamiI read my first murakami set of short stories almost 20 years ago when I picked up a book at a store while waiting for a trainIt wasn’t in the murakami section since none such existed. It was a single book in the fiction areaI continued to read murakami over the years and around 2007 I bought 3 books (a lavish expense at the time) which had similar formatsMurakami’s own Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchel (which I believe I bought after reading a review in The New Republic), and House of Leaves by Danielewski which I do not recall why I bought.I find it strange that 3 big books like that came out around the same time and all three had the same experimental nested narrative format but of the three HoL was the most striking to meHow did we all end up reading this book? Was it just wildly successful?
>>214413485No one is going to adapt this slop 20 years after everyone forgot about it and the one trick pony nepobaby author fell off the face of the earth.
>>214417637Only Revolutions was good too
>>214413485The Saw guy as Zampano

Daryl Mitchell as Billy Reston
Miles Teller as Johnny TruantBilly Crudup as Will NavidsonNatalie Portman as Karen GreenHugh Laurie as house
>>214417627I09 had a post about genreless books and the comment section gave hundreds of recommendations. I also heard of it from the band poe when I looked up the song hello from the ending song of stir of echoes. She is his sister and made a soundtrack for the book
Who will.be the busty, chocolate girl he meets? Ellie the empress sems like a good suggestion.
>>214418351I like crudup for navidson but Caviezel would be the best choice
>>214413485Does anyone else remember Pop Up Video? I always pictured the adaptation like that show.
If this ever gets made I fully expect them to keep in the bit where the guy titucks a black girls perfectly engineered fake boobs. It should be like a 10 minute long scene.
>>214419081Amanda steinberg
Too few people think this book is funny. I thought the book was a laugh riot completely mocking academia and academic writing but all anyone ever posts about is how they got scared and were spooked by it. This book was full of laughs.
>>214413988That sounds interesting.
>>214413485Houꜱe
>>214419177The author doesnt have a sense of humor
>>214419354How the fuck does that sound interesting? It sounds retarded
>>214419110Like the ikea scene in fight club.
>>214419177Xkcd comics has a pretty good comic about house of leaves and enders game as well. Remember them?
>>214419526Its like pure M. Knight material
>>214413674Tom Holland as Theseus Zendaya as Ariadna Dafoe as Icaro
>>214413827I just read the first 60 pages and the book is neigh unreadable
>>214413930I mean, you could film it, but the effect would be lost. Also, the entire book was written by Johnny's schizo mom, right? Johnny never existed. Or, at the very least, everything Zampano wrote was bullshit.
>>214419634It was insane schizo babble last time I heard of it.
Where the fuck do you people hear or see these books? Or is this a faggy /lit/ invasion thread?
>>214419891This is one of the biggest and highest selling books in modern times.
>>214419911Never heard of it, and I read books every so often. I've been reading this thread and apparently this is making fun of academia, so maybe it's more popular in those bookclub circles, but I've never even heard of this shit.
>>214419936None one cares what you have or haven't heard of.
>>214413485
>>214419936The book is like a wikipedia article about a creepy found footage film about a house thats somehow bigger on the inside than the outside

>>214415270so why haven’t they done it yet, you stupid fuckhead?

>>214417627From what I remember it was very popular. Even among people who wouldn't normally read something so experimental.
>>214420206he wasn't expressing curiosity about the contents, just spazzing out about having never heard it
>>214419936That was one posters opinion because the book has large sections of verbose and meandering passages. It doesn't really have anything concrete against academia.
>>214413485Can someone link to a fully scanned .pdf? I've only got .txt and that apparently means it's useless.
