>Hey peasants, here's a ridiculously wealthy celebrity to explain some concept to you so your cletus ass can grasp it, just remember we're on your side OK?
>>
>the peasant still doesn't understand
>oh well we tried

Why don't they blame the federal reserve for printing the money that caused ttge bubble in the first place?
>>
>>214414944
You can blame whoever you want but its going to be antisemitic
>>
Margin Call is also good.
>>
The average person is really bad at understanding things on the first pass and 50% of people are below average. If you want to sell your movie (especially in theatres when they can't pause and rewind) then you need to slow things down and repeat yourself like you're on talk radio

They didn't even do it right. Pic related was the key to the whole film and no celeb was involved. If the ratings agencies had done their job there would never have been a crisis to begin with.

Because the money printing was coming from banks giving out mortgages to people, each new loan created new money. The federal reserve was only tangentially involved through the setting of interest rates for banks. The fed printed money when the entire thing went tits up and they bought all the shitty mortgages.

Nah shit is pretty simple
>give loans to retards who can't pay it back
>sell off said loans to other retards
>crash because people can't pay it back
Moral: Don't buy things you can't pay for
>>
>>214415432
They lied about the ratings. It was entirely the banks' fault.
>>
>>214415085
>the agencies TURNED A BLIND EYE, get it? She's wearing glasses!
Bravo
>>
Too Big to Fail is a much better movie.
The Big Short with it's fourth wall breaking bullshit is fucking horrible.
>>
>government incentivizes banks to loan money to people who don't qualify for loans
>they don't qualify for loans because they're almost certainly going to default
>they default
>everything goes to shit
>>
>>214415478
You forgot
>banks package shitty loans together with good loans and lie about the quality of said package and sell it to millions of unsuspecting investors
That's what caused the actual crisis. Had they just let the shitty loans default nothing bad would have happened.
>>
>>214415346
The government enables fractional reserve banking. It wouldn't exist in a free market because it's a form of fraud.
>>
>>214414429
yes government is scummy but bankers are scums too
>>
>>214415432
you fucking retard, the issue is that the banks deliberately give loans to people not caring whether they can pay them back
>>
>>214416178
its not just that. they encouraged them to take the worst loans knowing they would default. same shit happens at car dealerships outside of military bases all the time. they will encourage some grunt that's just barely moved out of the house to buy some 80,000 dollar ram truck on a shitty loan knowing the dummy will default on it in a few years and then repo it.
