they're perfect films, and im tired of pretending they're not.

No they weren't.
It's just that compared to Disney, they look like Ben Hur

Well apparently the only people hating on them at the time were the boomers with internet access.

>Well apparently the only people hating on them at the time were the boomers with internet access.
No, boomers didn't feel super strongly about the prequels in either direction because only the very youngest of the tail end of the generation were still teenagers when A New Hope released. The overwhelming majority of boomers were adults well into their 20s when they saw Star Wars for the first time and many were in their 30s when ESB dropped. It was genx who got their panties in a twist over the prequels because it didn't live up to their childhood nostalgia driven expectations of what Star Wars was supposed to be. If you look into the figures who have been the most aggressively outspoken about how awful the prequels were and how they ruined Star Wars and never should have happened, almost all of them turn out to be mid to late genxers. Boomers, millennials and zoomers don't have the same knee jerk reaction to the prequels being brought up because they all see Star Wars for what it is, an influential space fiction movie franchise. They don't attach their very identity to it so when it does things they don't expect or don't like it doesn't feel like a personal affront.

Turns out growing up as latchkey kids with one VHS tape at home to keep the nerds who didn't want to play outside entertained did have some deleterious effects in the end.

still doesn't change the fact that the prequels were slop.

Well yeah, but so was the OT. It's all the same shit made by the same guy. That's the entire point. If you watch them outside the "cultural context" they're just fun popcorn movies. A generation got a little too gassed up by word of mouth marketing and now consider it akin to a religious text when it was always just a fun little space opera adjacent adventure romp made by a giant Joseph Campbell fan.

To be fair, Lucas thought the same way about these films. That's why he was obsessed with reediting them forever

Why would you go out of your way to attack me personally like that?

nah, childish nonsense
>>

1 has some really good moments but the movie takes a big halt when they go to tatooine and doesn’t really get on track until the end. 2 isn’t very good and most of the action feels too weightless, Dooku is cool though. 3 is honestly great, I love the atmosphere of shit going down every moment, it’s a very tight movie in terms of pace too
>>
they're very much a mixed bag
part amazing, part cringe, part dull, part fun romp
generally-great costuming and art direction
a 'fun with friends or family' sorta thing, far less enjoyable by oneself

Liking bad movies doesn't make you a bad person.

No they are shit, and they lost the right to be judged as their own thing when they decided to make it part of an existing franchise
>>
>>214415172
1 and 2 were bad films, albeit with cool moments. 3 was a pretty good film.

No it had an engaging plot unlike 2 or no plot at all like 1
