Which movie is the best of the three?
>>
2
>>
ED2. AOD is too much of a comedy and the first one is basically a demo reel/student film

1

1 and its not even close
>>
2 and 3, for different reasons
>>
Army of Darkness by far

Army of Darkness by far. I like 1 and 2 a lot, but AOD is so great.

The first one imo, it's a good horror movie. The second one has more comedy, so it loses some point in my book. And the third is just comedy slop imo.

They're all the best depending what you're looking for. 1 for pure horror with a bit of slapstick and lots of visual ideas, 2 for horror comedy with lots of great animations and moments and shitloads of visual ideas, and 3 for pure fun medieval adventure with tributes to Ray Harryhausen.
>>
>>214420617
>comedy slop
I got a BONE to pick with you

Army of Darkness by a big margin, although I prefer Evil Dead 2013 over all of them
>>
>>214418557
In spite of clearly being a very early work, and having a shoestring budget, ED1 is still surprisingly effective.

2 is fun, and much more refined, with a lot of really creative stuff going on, but it's also quite a bit more sanitized for the sake of not getting an X rating, and the Deadites just look like Halloween decorations.

I don't even count Army of Darkness because it just feels like a long episode of Hercules or Xena.
>>
>>214418557
My personal favourite is 2, but it's definitely subjective and a solid 'something for everyone' trilogy in general. I like them all for different reasons, and that's probably the case for most people.
>>
>>214419657
I have this print and you're right. Army of Darkness is just in a league of its own. ED 1&2 are fun trashy horror flicks but AoD is a B-masterpiece.

>I don't even count Army of Darkness because it just feels like a long episode of Hercules or Xena
(and that's a good thing)
>>
1 then 2 and then 3 sucks
>>
>>214421781
That's always the response I get when I say that, and that's fine for you, but that's also not what I come to Evil Dead for.

Legit question: Was remake 'Rise' any good at all? I expected it to be CURRENT YEAR triple-boosted trash full of Zoomer fucktards who just don't get it, but trailer/clips looked kinda creepy shit.

All three are amazing. I view the trilogy as a complete set of perfect original horror/comedy, but if I had to choose, it would be Evil Dead. It’s one of the greatest horror movies ever. I watched it as a 10 yr old in the 90’s and it fucked me up for life. I met Bruce over the weekend and he was cool as shit. He signed multiple items including my OG Thorn VHS slip cover pictured here.

>>214422157
Yes, it’s good. All the zoomers in it eventually become possessed and then get absolutely fucking obliterated. I enjoyed it very much. There’s some small humor in it, but overall it’s pretty black in tone.

1 is the best. 2 is remarkably unscary when you watch them back to back and the deadites look like Halloween masks. Normies will gaslight you that that’s how the series was MEANT to be though!!!
>>
>>214418557
I only watch these drunk and I still can't even remember what the difference between 1 and 2 is, AOD is comepltely different but gigakino

For me, it’s the original. It changed the horror game forever and spawned two legends within the film industry, Sam and Bruce. Can’t ask for anything better than that. Also, who doesn’t love a good ol’ Tree branch rape scene! Super kino.
>>
>>214418557
2, but it's not really a trilogy.
>>
>>214422157
I didn't like Rise or 2013 at all and I have a pretty high tolerance for modern remake slops. But still, watch it if you're curious, its a short movie and at least it has some decent kills
>>
>>214418557
1 > 2 > 3
2 is the easiest to get into, but I think it takes a huge dive when the other characters show up. It mostly stops being the insane trippy clown car ride that the first half was. It's no wonder that almost all the iconic clips from ED2 are from that first half.
1 has shockingly good shots and use of mist effects. I think it edges out imo because the atmosphere and the fact that the movie just gets crazier until the end. The movie is at its best when it feels like a fever dream.
Army of Darkness is just fine. Goes a little too into the action and slapstick for my taste and there's no perfect cut. The version with "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun" has the retarded Shart-Mart ending. The version with the better ending fucks up the one-liner. Even Campbell points this out in the commentary.

Neither of the modern movies have got the X factor. They play like generic demonic possession movies, but where the demons are verbally abusive sometimes.
>>
>>214418557
1=3>2

I've seen each around three times or more. The remake from 2013 is awful.

they're all awesome even the 2013 remake and rises
looking forward to the new one from the infested french guy hope he keeps the crappy french rap out of evil dead
but 2 is the best overall desu

1 is definitely the most /comfy/ especially if you know anything about the production. I used to have the DVD and recall enjoying the director commentary track.
>>
>>214418557
I will always prefer 3 due to deep nostalgia, but 2 is great as well. 1 is a very interesting movie, but I dont enjoy it as much as the other 2.
>>
The original, by far. It set a new standard in horror and influenced a SHIT LOAD of directors, special effects makers etc etc.
>>
>>214418557
We’re all winners here. All three films are great in their own right, it’s just comes down to preference.
>>
>>214425787
How dare you. This is the internet, we all know that there is only one correct choice and if you pick the wrong film then you're a bad person whose bloodline must be ended.
>>
>>214425827
Not when it comes to these three films. They’re all winners.
>>
>>214418557
AoD even though it's a straight comedy by then.
