Best trilogy other than LOTR btw
>>214423195It's up there with Indy and Star Wars.
>>214423260indy sucks and star wars is not a trilogy
>>214423268You just killed this thread.
>>214423195>The Man With No Name trilogy>The Godfather Trilogy>The Dark Knight Trilogy (capesloppa supreme)>Back to the Future Trilogy>Toy Story Trilogy (only kids growing up in early 2000s relate)>Original Star Wars TrilogyOnly then can you insert lotr and pirates.
>>214423195Yeah
>>214423359The Dark Knight Rises sucks horse dick
>>214423359>the dark knight trilogyonly second movie is watchablethird is remembered because CIA meme
>>214423407You're a gay boomer. Sorry not sorry.
>>214423359>Original Star Wars Trilogydoesn't exist
Curse of the Black Pearl is a standalone film. The (unplanned) sequel relies on its predecessor, but the predecessor does not rely on its successor, ergo; not a trilogy. Also, in regards to the original film, the tone is fucking everywhere and it feels exactly like what it is: a Disney production trying to appeal to everybody with too much shoved into one screenplay. Are they better than Harry Potter and the Star Wars Prequels? Sure. But it's not anything all that fantastic, and of course its reputation is soured by the same kikery merchandising as the aforementioned franchises, unnecessary sequels, and real-life politics.Credit where it's due: the set designers, visual effects department, and cinematographers were impeccable and put present-day Disney (and many others) to shame.Beckett was based. He did nothing wrong.
>>214423617>The (unplanned) sequelAll sequels for original IPs are unplanned sequels. You don't go into a brand new IP with the expectation that you're gonna get to make more than 1 movie. The only planned sequels are when you're making an adaptation of books/comics/whatever.
>>214423617Dead Man's Chest is great and a quality sequel. You have the cannibals, the ball-cage climb and chase, Davy Jones with CGI that still holds up, the kraken, the three-way giant water wheel fight, a shitty gambling game that you and your retarded friends were able to figure out, it had tons of good bits. It's just soured by having its plot stretch into the third movie and not be a nice independent package like the first movie.
LOTR is the best trilogy in history
>>214423469What does exist? The Disney one?
>>214424052yep the disney trilogy and the six original movies exist
>>214423861Only the first movie has that charm and feeling of a conspiracy against the people of the world. The second and third one are just High fantasy movies.
>>214423268>star wars is not a trilogywell neither is pirates of the caribbean, but here we are
I unironically fell asleep watching 2 and 3
>>214424075>six original movies exisThey differ from each other too much for you to lump them together. The OT is a classic that aged beautifully. The PT is for Machiavelli/Plato enjoyers, which makes it unpopular for sloppa enjoyers.
Black Pearl is good. Other two are sloppa. Good and entertaining for some. But sloppa.I never rewatch them. I rewatch the first one.
>>214424087>just High fantasy moviesNo they are more than that
>>214424144Davy Jones was cool. Third one was underwhelming imo.BP is a masterpiece
>>214424145>they are more than thatThey would be if they followed the source material more. Or at least given us more Sauron, instead of ending it with Aragon cutting off some no names head and the tower collapsing in the distance.
>>214423845Oh it's a fine movie no doubt, but I think it's soured by being a sequel. As fun as Jack Sparrow was, and as much as I love Geoffrey Rush, I think "Pirates" really should have been an anthology that depicted different characters. It's really awkward when your first movie wraps everything up in a nice bow and then a "sequel" that may as well be titled "It Happened, Again" releases. For me anyway, it reduces the otherwise amazing characters introduced, like Davy Jones and Cutler Beckett, to being nothing more than a footnote in an anime plot armor protagonist's diary. It's especially awkward because as I mentioned before, the tone for the films is a bit all over the place, so despite seeming like a general, self-contained adventure film like Indiana Jones, the Pirates films tend to portray a lot more consequences as they relate to the general populace.Case in point: Bejita is an endearing anti-hero because the lazy plot device of his franchise means there are zero consequences to any prior evils he committer.Contrasting, Barbossa's role is a bit harder to forgive as the pointless sequels involving him progress considering the first fucking thing he does on-screen is murder, rape and pillage a port. The rape being implied, of course. And everybody just kind of forgets. Because they keep dragging this nigga out to parley. They couldn't leave him dead (heh), they couldn't let Jack sail off into the sunset, they couldn't never mention Will Turner or Elizabeth Swann's cleavage ever again. They had to keep making sequels, and ruin otherwise good stories and solid filmmaking on protagonists that drag them down.In other words: it's a quality-made film that had the unfortunate fate of being a sequel, NOT a great and quality sequel.
>>214424331>It's really awkward when your first movie wraps everything up in a nice bow and then a "sequel" that may as well be titled "It Happened, Again" releases. It doesn't just happen again though. The plot and overall structure of 2 and 3 are completely different. It gives every character besides Jack way more agency and the plot goes from Jack manipulating everyone around him to every character manipulating each other to achieve their own ambition. Only at the end do all their desires align to get them back on the same side.
>>214423617Curse of the Black Pearl was also built around using ride imagery with the skeleton pirates and cursed treasure while all the sequels just kinda sprinkle in references to what that movie hadn't used. Even the "Dunking the mayor" shot in the establishing montage of Tortuga in Dead Man's Chest is just leftover footage from the Curse of the Black Pearl shoot.Verbinski's sequels are still fun and he even made a short out of the Auction scene since there was no actual place for it the actual movies, but in attaching everything to Jack instead of making Pirates an anthology like >>214424331 said, Disney's need to capitalize on the success and resynergize the ride basically killed it. Even the Auction scene update several years ago was basically an attempt at planting the seeds for that canned Margot Robbie reboot.
>>214423407Memes aside, it is a weak entry. The whole nuke plot just doesn't work and there's all this extraneous dialogue.
imma go with back to the future
>>214423359>The Man With No Name trilogySo good most people have never seen 2/3 of them and such a trilogy that the only thing they share are the same actor who does in fact have a different name and character in all of them>The Godfather Trilogycapeshit tier money grubbing sequels that no one remembers>The Dark Knight Trilogy (capesloppa supreme)Other anon is right though TDKR is kind of drawn out and boring besides the terrible actor that made the opening scene a meme, but you can't fault Nolan for losing his star and having to improvise so I'll give it a pass>Back to the Future Trilogycapeshit tier money grubbing sequels that no one remembers>Toy Story Trilogy (only kids growing up in early 2000s relate)zoom zoom, can't relate though my younger cousins seemed to enjoy it>Original Star Wars TrilogyI can extra tell you're a zoomer because most people that weren't 80s onions children thought ROTJ was a wet fart until TPM came out and redeemed it in the zeitgeist. Not a complete A+ trilogy
>>214427051what you're conveniently leaving out is that pirates was also from day one considered: black pearl>what a hit, everybody owned the dvd dead man's chest>still fun but a lot lower quality than the first oneworld's en>universaly regarded as a trash movie and no amount of /tv/ headcanon can change this fact
>>214423407People tried denying it for a while. Glad to see others feel the same. You can tell Ledger's death impacted the ending
