finally watched it.it was alright, bit of a messy plot. could have been a lot better for sure.Couple of times it dabbed on religion like some fedora atheist, preaching that>religious dogma bad, multiculturalism dogma goodmessage
>>214427955>legolas, please kill my disloyal and warmongering vassal, marry my smoking hot eva green sister who's totally into you, and take your place as my top guy>nooooo! I must follow my conscience :(
the directors cut fixes many but not all of the problems
>>214428053It adds problems
If you didn't watch the director's cut you fucked up.
>>214428053>>214428477no, i watched director's cut. i think anyone who watches it these days watched directors cut because we are told that is a must
This movie is quite pretty and it has some good bits such as the Saladin moments BUT it is overall an unwatchable mess. It works much better as a Pinterest moodboard.

>>214427955I like this movie overall because it's a really well made epic, but am always on the fence about how good it actually is. It's got some really great parts and some really goofy parts. It is way too on the nose with its portrayal of cartoonishly bad bad guys and noble heroes, and its cringey conflation of modern multiculturalism and fedora tipping "le religion is bad (but only Christianity counts as religion)" dialogue coming from characters who are literally in the roles of Christian believers is so forced and strange. The movie feels like it is trying to force a moral of a story into a story and characters that don't fit it.
>>214433141The idea that people of some power in the era of holy war could think it inconsistent with their religion and foolish is not unreasonable. The idea being expressed wasn't "religion bad" but "all this death is a waste." The climax was very explicitly about nothing more than protecting the people.
