I can't decide if this was based or just plain trash. It's pretty good in its first half when the family are a hidden threat lurking somewhere in the country, but it becomes a cartoonish farce when Lefty and Hotpants Girl enter the grandiose family lair - a huge occult shrine as elaborate in its design as the Temple of Doom.
“Cartoonish farce” describes the entire movie…
>>214429113First half is good and then goes beyond over the top. I want Stretch to stretch my pp if you know what I mean.
>>214429113The movie's based, even the poster. It's completely self aware and just goes with it
>>214429113TCM part 2 is really fun. Hooper knew he couldn't top the first one in terms of fright/thrill, so he just decided to run with how ridiculous the premise is, and it works.
>>214429602>The movie's based, even the poster. It's completely self aware and just goes with itthis. anyone who says otherwise is dumb as hell. Hooper made it to emphasize the original theme of TCM; the meat industry being problematic from a "respect for nature"-standpoint. Naturally, people did not get that angle from the first film so he used more drastic means. "U can also be eaten, think about that", is quite a solid take for a horror film, but instead of contemplating over the fact, it frightens them, they like to be on top, live the life without ever thinking of death or what it means, how the world functions, cycles and recycles, ashes to ashes and
>>214429767Hooper intended the first one to be funny and thought it was ridiculous and funny and didn’t undeterred why nobody else did.
>>21442911310/10 movie
Unironically better than the first.
>>214429113one of the funniest horror comedies ever. the chainsaw buying scene had me in tears
I didn't like it the first time I saw it, but it got better with the years. Seems like everyone back then was going down the road of horror comedies. Also that chick was hot, those legs were on fire.
>>214429975I can understand why. 70s rural Texas by itself looks like a creepy horror movie, add on top a crazy cannibal murderous family with a mumified grandmother in the attic. I have a friend whose deadly scared when watching horror movie, and he was saying it's more what he doesn't see that scares him. I look at movies as an amateur film maker, so I look way more at the tech aspect of movies, so I just laugh at the horror stuff
Shit pissed me off. The first is genuinely unsettling and quite spoopy if you watch when you're young and not desensitised to horror. This shit is too goofy and looks cheap as fuck.
>>214429113https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yEE_toKFxcIt's based. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and manages to simultaneously deliver a hilarious comedy and a quality slasher. Let's be real, slashers at their best are over the top and farsical and TCM2 does it perfectly. Also Caroline Williams ass looks amazing in the whole movie, and Bill Moseley as Chop-Shop was extremely memorable.
>>214430917Everything about first movie should’ve been comedic. Stupid wheel chair brother, idiot hitchhiker, the bumbling dad and a ridiculous main character with a forkful mask with lipstick with a chainsaw as a weapon. And anyone ever used a chainsaw knows what a shit weapon it is. Hit anything at a wrong angle and chain goes flying off

The underground lair is one of the most unbelievable sets made for film, it truly feels like a shithole that's been lived in for over a decadeAlso Cook calling Bubba and Chop Top niggers was hilariously unexpected, I don't think he went as far in the original or am I remembering wrong?
Bill Moseley as Chop Top is possibly the greatest high camp performances of all time
>>214429113It's based
>>214429113Absolutely based. Not as good as the original, a lot more silly, but I still love it. Sadly this would be the last good Texas Chainsaw movie.
I know people who like it but the tone of it has never worked for me. I just found it irritating
