>>214429783i watched first contact the other night and it was pretty kinoi haven't seen insurrection or nemesis yet but i'm honestly excited to see tom hardy as a picard borg clone and idk shit about insurrection
The Motion picture.Good and and is the only Star Trek movie that isn’t ashamed of being a Star Trek movie. Most of the others ape Star Wars.
>>214431301They both suck. I just watch them to see more of the Enterprise E, no other reason.
Look I know Im gonna get a lot of shit for it, but just hear me out... I thought Nemesis was great. Okay, just calm down. Yes, it was dark. But it was the most serious Trek movie. It was a psychological thriller in the Trek universe, and it had the best space battle probably in all of Trek.
>>214429783Insurrection
>>214431418>it had the best space battle probably in all of Trek.better than the totally not a death star fight in first contact?
I like Undiscovered Country. They already explored space the only thing left is for Kirk to explore his heart.
>>214431641Yes, a million times better, the First Contact fight lasted 2 minutes, and it never made any sense that after so much preparation Borg would send one cube to attack Earth>hurr durr it was the mega assimilation cubemakes fuck all sense to have one object in the attack instead of several, if they just sent 3-4 more normal cubes it would have been much bigger problem, what were they thinking
>>214431820>after so much preparation Borg would send one cube to attack Earthbecause that was what was left of the borg as far as we knew
>>214429783Literally the first one, TMP. It doesn't get any better. And it's certainly not any of the TNG era garbage. Borg Queen is fucking stupid btw. I also liked Into Darkness, I don't care, I really do. It's better than any of the TNG movies and better than a couple of the TOS movies as well. It's also the best JJ trek. I swear, one day it will have people realize that it is worthy of praise, just like what happened with the Star Wars prequels, although I only agree with Revenge of the Sith being praised and the other two are complete dogshit.

UC > WoK > IV > 1 (Tron soundtrack cut) > 1 > 3 > First Contact > 5 > Insurrection > Nemesis > A literal turd > JJ TrekI say UC is best because while it has flaws the movie feels like a window to an era of history which is something I appreciate when watching old media. I don't know how Russians must feel about it though.>I say First ContactThe Borg didn't need a Queen and the movie killed any tension with them. I also don't know why the plot runs backwards. >>214431418It was dumb and symbolic of the bad writing using wunderwaffen that you get these days.
Love First Contact. Probably the best one they did and it made a lot of money. Well deserved too.Insurrection tried running on that same steam but fell short, however Insurrection was an achievement of a movie because it after all those years FINALLY got the formula right. It was the first and so far only Star Trek movie that looked and felt like a Star Trek episode. Blending it seamlessly into the Dominion War story arch that the series were undergoing at the time fit it like a glove. It may have fell short in places but it worked in others.Wrath of Khan has to be the one Trek movie that makes me shed manly tears. Spock's sacrifice, the music swelling after the eulogy of Scotty playing 'Amazing Grace' on the bagpipes, Ricardo Montelban's exposed chest, young hot Kirstie Alley in Vulcan ears. Love it. Absolute kino.Trek movies are very hit and miss. Generations was ass, sorry nerds. Didn't care for Data's autism spasms. The only best parts of that film was McDowell, Stewart and Shatner. JJ-Trek is cursed. The first one was earnest but so far removed from Trek that it might as well be a Star Wars movie, which sewed the seeds for the worst fucking thing to happen to that franchise as well. The first one plucked the proper member berries strings, the second one (sorta?) more or less did the same thing but the third was so forgettable, it might as well be Below Decks episode.
>>214429783The Very Good Star Trek movies (2, 4 and 8), the best three, really, share a single common trait: they all make use of the Moby Dick whale hunt metaphor. The whale is present either literally, or else as a metaphorical device for the quarry (Kirk himself, the whales themselves, or the Borg). "Save the Whales" was a big meme among liberal boomers during the late 1970s and into the 1980s, by way of a nature recording of humpback whale song. The good Trek movies were just downstream of this trend.
