What the heck is with this SNW season finale. Did they really ADR over like 90% of the scenes? Why?
Finale sucked. Felt more like a fantasy show than a sci-fi show. Not even the inner light homage could save it. Should have been at least 2 parts to fit all this in properly.
I guess I'm gonna disagree with the crowd again, I liked the finale. Glad it wasn't a cliffhanger either.

I'm completely unclear as to whether she also experienced Pikes Inner Light ripoff. They did not explain it other than it was Pike got to experience a lifetime where he didn't get blowd up sir, but then he got snapped back to reality and will have to get blowd up sir. Seems like Pike will not get to escape his fate. But on the plus side that means he gets to live his life out on Talos IV experiencing all manner of perfectly convincing hallucinations alongside the blonde chick. On another note, Nurse Chapel was cute as a redhead. It was weird that she was back to blonde immediately after coming back from the planet. I apologize for the reddit spacing.

>>214442621All in all it was a pretty sloppy episode logically. Yet again the show was carried by what I consider some pretty strong acting. Plus they had a little bit more bonding with Spock and Kirk so eh I guess that's fine. Agree that S3 overall was meh.
I guess what I can say about SNW is I'm glad it's not season long storylines like STD and SPIC. I'm watching Prodigy season 2 right now and it's just too much serialization. I like Star Trek to have beginning and end for the most part. As bad as some SNW stories can be, at least they're not 10 hours long.
>episodic runs into the "reset button" problem>season-long serialization runs into the issue of the plot being front-loaded into the season premier and back-loaded into the season finale, with a lot of unrelated filler in the middle>two-parters in the episodic format tend to be good>cliffhangers in the serialized format tend to be unfulfilling and badDo you think there's a happy medium to be found? Maybe four episode long arcs, or three-parters?

Finishing season 2 of Prodigy is one of the toughest stretches of the entire Trek saga for me and I haven't even seen it before so it shouldn't be this boring. I take back everything I say about wanting a Temporal Agency show. This season is way too much time shenanigans it's just fucking trash. They call this a kids show but I can't imagine it holding the attention of a child. It's so technical and dry. On the plus side Wesley Crusher got captured and tortured anyway.

>>214444637> They call this a kids show but I can't imagine it holding the attention of a child.Isn’t this also a reason Lightyear flopped? That movie also had a complicated time dilation storyline but it was supposed to be a toy commercial for children. >>214446197Unfortunately I stopped caring about IRL extraterrestrial life once I realized that we'll probably never get our collective shit together and explore the stars, or that only the rich and powerful will and they'll take the worst aspects of humanity out into the cosmos. Also the fact that if any life does already exist out there, we'd never know, because all the info we're able to observe is bound at the upper limit by lightspeed, so we're in reality only able to observe recent things that are locally within a certain number of lightyears, otherwise they would've happened hundreds of thousands to millions of years ago and we'd essentially be looking into the past. For example, an alien world 65 million lightyears away looking at earth would only be able to see it when the dinosaurs were still around.
>>214446318yes "we" would never know because we'll be dead by the time humans figure out what the ETs who have visited us have figured out, which is how to break free of the limitations of linear time. but I still care because I just can't help wondering about the unknown. it just makes me feel good idk.
>>214442068>if the opposite happened you'd be saying Nice!FTFY you culture wars faglord.>>214443923Actually chuckled at that apu.
>>214446318I would love to look at a planet 65 million light years away and see a bunch of giant lizards just fighting and being based.
>>214446318>For example, an alien world 65 million lightyears away looking at earthOur galaxy is only 100,000 lightyears in diameter. Nothing 65 million lightyears away would be able to see us unless it had ftl capabilities.
>>214446551Remember that time Kirk defeated the aliens from Andromeda galaxy with the power of sex and jealousy?
>>214444023kek
>>214441152SNW season finale was also just the DS9 series finale.
>>214444634Kes was the only character in S1 VOY who wasn't a giant piece of shit personality wise. Except maybe Tuvok.
>>214446380>ftfy>cuckpark reference
>>214435904Unironically, wish Vic was handing Trek over fucking Kurtzman. Star Trek Continues shits over all of NuTrek.
>>214446318>Visual proof that an alien civilization empire existed will only reach Earth long after humanity is gone
>>214446028We're clearly on the Mirror Universe path, so just leave them alone.
>>214446995those ship shots are gorgeous honestly
>>214447038you said it much more elegantly, I have a hard time being concise when tired
>>214446028no they didnt
>aliens who can shape shift and assume other people's identities are responsible for acts of terrorism on Earth soilDS9 was ahead of its time
if the bajorans are so tough how come they got occupied in the first place?
>>214434756Were the Weyoun clones really that different from each other to be considered distinct from each other? I never really noticed it before and only considered the defector Weyoun to be a separate character.
>>214447416>Were the Weyoun clones really that different from each other to be considered distinct from each other?yes. pay close attention when you rewatch and you'll notice it.
>>214447265i know i correct myself here >>214446197take note schizo always crying about how i "never admit when i'm wrong"
>>214447466the evidence is not compelling, either
>>214442657The acting was strong and everyone acted the hell out of it, but holy shit the writing was sloppy. Not even lazy - they showed but then also told, which was dumb.I'mma spoiler the rest of my post so I dont get b&. For example, when it's obvious Batel was linked in some way to the warden, they then proceeded to do the stupidest five minute conference room technobabble about epigenetics that was about as retarded and long winded (and incorrect) as the pontification about introns in TNG: Genesis. Why? You literally could have had Batel do the equivalent of Neo going "Whoa, I know kung fu" and understand what's going on.Likewise, the Inner Light sequence with the knocks as transition - yes, we get it. We get it, You overdid it.The excuse to do the mind meld for the laser was just some Kripke tier queerbaiting, but Spirk has been a thing forever so whatever. It could have been done so much more smoothly, such as in the China Mieville book Embassytown, or even the hack reason in Pacific Rim.The explanation about the ripoff Stargates was overwrought. Trekkies already know about Iconians. Scifi fans in general know about Stargate. We get it. Don't do the equivalent of folding a paper in half and pushing a pencil through. You showed, you don't need to tell (badly) on top of that. The showdown between Batel and Gamble was pure Doctor Who (and the comic bit with Pelia shows it). Everyone acted their best - kudos to the guy playing Gamble for really hamming it up - but it doesn't fit in Trek. The inner light bit was nice, I guess, as a bit of emotional resolution for Batel's arc, but it could have been done much more compactly. The costume design on the giant hoverdiamond planet was pretty nice.Overall - every department in SNW is working their hardest, but the writers need to either take more or less Adderall, because they're just spoiling the soup with too much shit.
>>214447503why not?
>>214447545because the minerals they found are commonly created by non-biological means
>>214447561i thought it wasn't only the minerals but the way they appear in the rock is similar to what you see with microbe activity on earth and the conditions on Mars aren't hot enough to form those minerals inorganically.anyway here's the article for anyone who cares https://archive.ph/0zT11
I know production of this season was strike delayed, that was totally written as a stealth series finale if they hadn't been picked up for a fourth season, right?
>>214445458La'an has almost sandwiched herself between Kirk and Spock. It's clearly some wish fulfillment writing
>>214447530Exactly all that. It's not repulsive like unfortunately so much of nutrek has been, but the writing is just retarded
