The first season had the only tv/movie depiction of a proper hardscifi space elevator. The writers understood and explained how the elevator would have to ascend all the way to geostationary orbit and that it would take hours. Now in season 3, Gaal is jumping out of windows in geostationary orbit so that she can do Sonic the Hedgehog moves in atmosphere in the next scene. Its little stuff like this that tells you how easy it is for a writing room to have a little bit of turnover and instantly turn into shit.

The thing is that nothing solid about the setting matters anymore. Empire and Demerzel are gone; and more importantly, the robots being extinct is no longer true, which is a fucking important part of any setting because why the fuck would AI be dormant for that long.

It's crazy that they would have a self-destruct system for the clones. Self-destruct systems are stupid in most cases they are used but this one seems just totally fucking stupid - why the fuck would you put explosives near anything that precious let alone give a single-button push to activate it. We can't launch nukes without involving like 5 fucking people.

I know this is impossible to prove, but I knew Goyer would fuck this. He always fucks it. But one thing I have to say is that I am amazed at how deeply they fucked it, especially the part about Demerzel not leading the Second Foundation. She is arguably the best character in the entire fucking show and it's just insane that they made up some means to kill her. There is really no reason she could not fire up the cloning vats again and birth new Empires from fucking scratch - she could just rip Dusk's eyes out, let Dawn get dusted, without any stupid sacrifice.

The black woman storyline is so fucking pointless. The bitch cannot act and even the production and showrunners seem to know it so they just have her explain what the storyline is going to be in a voice over, and then sort of play it out, with random shit happening and being implied kind of off screen, or via other people.
The moment you get her in an actual scene the entire quality of the episode tanks.

The shit with The Mule was incredibly predictable, but somehow still completely underwhelming. Also one of those plotlines that retroactively makes the events of the previous episodes completely nonsensical.

The stuff with Darkness going mad and ash babying Demerzel feels kinda out of nowhere. Obviously Darkness knows that he won't live forever and doesn't really seem to have any contingency for when he dies beyond "lol fuck it", which is a weird illogical spin-out but okay, sure whatever. Why does he have a clicker that activates the "End the Empire explosives" which had been strategically placed in every clone vat. Also the entire sequence hinges upon Demerzel just so happening to be distracted at the time, and that one Indian advisor saying "lol k meet you at your own execution in a bit, k?" Which feels fucking stupid.

Whole "Robots on the moon" bit is whatever. Kinda retarded cliffhanger shit but whatever, it's TV they clearly needed to get apple on the hook for a 4th season.

What the fuck did I just watch? Why was this season such a clusterfuck compared to the last season. Why does it feel like half a season? I'm glad they explained how the Vault saved everyone at the end of the last season, and significantly fleshed out Demerzel's character, but why do that when the former raises more questions than it answers, and the latter kills the character off before we can learn any more about her.

While I'm nominally a bookfag when it comes to adaptions, I was willing to excuse Foundation on the strengths of Mann's and Pace's performances and the Cleon storyline, and for how good season two was. Season three felt like a jumbled mess, where it felt like they had to keep the Cleon and Empire storylines because nobody would watch if Pace wasn't involved and carrying the show like the Chad that he is; and while the Cleon storyline continues to be the strongest, it didn't feel like it was in service of anything this season.

The show fucks it up by having characters mention that "some people think earth is the original homeworld of humanity," even though in the books no one actually knows that, with the implication being that the planet earth is known about, but isn't considered noteworthy due to it being "the site of a major nuclear war eons ago." The big twist in Foundation and Earth is that when they get to earth, they find it a radioactive shithole, and one of the characters is drawn to the moon, where they find Daneel who then Vigils their asses about how it was him whose been guiding humanity since forever to try and create Galaxia in order to fight aliens.

Empire is white people, who are portrayed as degenerate and easily manipulated by their non-white servants. The real power is an enemy race who take the form of a white woman.

A white man named Harry Seldon convinces them to create a multiracial "foundation" who will take over after white people have been destroyed. Its actually a ploy, and another foundation is created, ruled by psychotic women who use their psychic power to dominate everyone. Their current leader is a mute white man, who actually takes orders from Gaal.

Harry Seldon then acts like an advisor to brown people, his role is to interpret the esoteric instructions of a black woman(Kalle) for the brown faction. He sacrifices everything in this pursuit(telling whites to give up their lives for the multiracial project and he is actually betrayed in the end(he asked for a body(= a place in the new brown world)).

They tell all in season 3 basically, especially this latest episode where the white patriarch destroys everything to rule a few more years. And season 4 will be all about how the brown faction has to stop the evil white man before he destroys everything. They even made Day a druggie who is in love with a black woman(symbolizing black culture), and Dawn a cripple(pointing out that Gen X, Z & millennial whites have been eliminated).

Before the final shot(now Brother Darkness) holding the magical device(guess what it symbolizes)of the hostile robot race waiting for his next instructions.
The final shot shows Kalle and her robot(not disguised as human) and the camera pans to planet Earth, showing North and South America(the stronghold of whites). Telling the viewers that this is actually what has been happening since 1917.

The whole arc about the mule is just meaningless filler telling whites to kill each other.

I tend to dickride Jared Harris and if you've listened to him talk about acting he often says that actors don't know what the fuck is going on because they shoot so many scenes and out of order in the script that they can't know what scenes are kept and what are discarded. And so what he does, and why he's good, is because he does his best so that regardless of how the director chops up the scene he's done something that could be defended.

I think what's especially weird is that the first 7/8 episodes this season were kino. I loved all the cyberpunk shit, I liked seeing a competent Gaal exploring her new powers, I loved seeing the moral ambiguity of Demerzel fleshed out where you don't know if you're rooting for or against her.
But I think the cracks started showing as soon as Day left Trantor. Gaal vs the Mule should have been a rip-off of the final duel in Dunc 2. Torren should have had his hero moment. Christ.
