Even in S1 they had moments of introspection and were mostly good to others but then sometime after S9 or 10 they stopped acting like actual kids with kids related storylines. desu, everything between the movie and Isaac Hayes leaving was probably the actual peak of the show.They had ironed out a lot of the kinks. The plots were better structured. Butters and Jimmy were characters. Randy was becoming a funny semi regular lead, but they hadn't gone too far. Good stuff.Super early South Park has a particular charm in just how rough it is though.
I'd say the peak is 3 - 9 and the first two seasons do have a lot of weak episodes still some like Spookyfish are better than all the slop they made in the last decade combined

South park peaked from season 3-10 after season 10 theres an immediate dip in quality as bill hader comes onboard and matt/trey take a backseat to complete the book of mormon.After that the show never recovered and began to suck. Im not sure if matt/trey just became faggots due to their massive success after this point but south park almost immediately became unfunny and laboured. Even when matt/trey began writing again.
