prehistoric ice man is one of the best episodes. season 1 isn't that great, season 2 has some good ones, season 3 is mostly good
>>
>>214460788
s4 is peak. s1 was juvenile s2 wasnt written by matt/trey and s3 was just them coming back and doing better than s1

I'm sure Brian Boytaino and Barbara Streisand are thankful for his admission.

they arent actually writing the new crap surely. when hader was hired the show nose dived even more so clearly even then (s13 or earlier) they were backseating at most

trey is a workaholic

they both wanted to quit the show by like s8 brah. the only work they care about is broadway and whatever other shit they do.

Also penning the script isn't "writing" it.

Just looked through the episode list. The further I get the less episodes I can remember. It was definitely getting weaker after season 7/8.

>>
>>214462018
interesting that you failed to understand quotations marks and removed them.

the "writing" is a bunch of people coming up with ideas and a story/plot outline in a room. Then one person literally writes that up. So just because you pen it doesn't mean you "wrote" the ideas, get it?
>>
>>214461927
Yeah season 7-8 is the cutoff point for me. Chef stopped being prominent and the boys (aside from Cartman) became too goody two shoes
>>214461963
No he isn't. Sorry but not everyone likes "muh preachy current events with melodrama" bullcrap.
>>

>>
>>214461087
Doesn't seem like it.
>>
>>214462126
>two goody two shoes
Nah the main issue is they stop acting like kids. Even in S1 they had moments of introspection and were mostly good to others but then sometime after S9 or 10 they stopped acting like actual kids with kids related storylines. Take that one episode Preschool for example from S9, no satire just the boys trying to escape a problem that they handled as kids. Now take later episodes which always needs to have them be mouthpieces for some political issue or social trauma. 2015 to now is the point of no return thats pretty much defined SP as this politics centered trash as opposed to 4 kids getting into weird hijinks with celebrities, aliens or mundane scenarios.

Another thing is fading out the old cast for new ones. You mention Chef, but by then guys like Jimbo, Dr. Mephisto, the Mayor, Officer Barbrady and Shelly were all afterthoughts. In their place we got Butters, Tweek, more Garrison and Mr. Slave stuff and Randy Marsh becoming the 5th main character to now.
>>
>>214462136
ok, well you don't seem very smart or well natured so I don't care about your opinion.
>>
>>214460952
Wow! Now this.. THIS IS FUNNY
>>
>>214460788
>Why is he like this?
You want him like that. When he's fully satisfied they stop trying to do something fun, new and worth watching. A satisfied artist is done with the project, you want them to strive for mastery of their craft. No matter how good it already appears to be.
>>
>>214462260
Nah for me, the kids being assholes was one of the main draws. Stan would sometimes make an anti semitic joke at Kyle's expense and would laugh at Cartman's jokes about Kyle's mom, Stan and Kyle would laugh at Cartman's jokes about Kenny being poor and all four would pick on dorky kids like Pip, Butters etc. and cuss out adults. After season 8, Cartman became the only jerk in the group.

That being said, You're right about the kids not acting like kids. Also Randy was more chill, Sharon had crazy moments of her own and Cartman's mom was a funny slut instead of "Miss Melodrama"
>>
>>214462260
Imo South Park became irredeemable dogshit around season 15. The only good episode from that season was the meheecans one. Afterwards it was unwatchable trash.
>>
>>214460788
He's right, when I started the series from the beginning it felt like a chore going through the first few seasons, it was just surface level edgy and crude humor where it almost felt like it was intended for kids when it's not supposed to be, it was just funny at the time. Our humor has evolved, the days of downloading recordings of someone singing "Elmo pimps hoes," "your daughter kicked my dog and now he needs operation," and Adam Sandler singing about his piece of shit car on Napster are remembered fondly, but they wouldn't be particularly funny today.
>>
>>214460788
I get what he means. It's like watching short films you made as a kid in high school years later when you're nearly middle-aged -- usually it'll be cringe and you'll wonder what the hell you were thinking.
>>
desu, everything between the movie and Isaac Hayes leaving was probably the actual peak of the show.
They had ironed out a lot of the kinks. The plots were better structured. Butters and Jimmy were characters. Randy was becoming a funny semi regular lead, but they hadn't gone too far. Good stuff.

Super early South Park has a particular charm in just how rough it is though.
>>
I'd say the peak is 3 - 9 and the first two seasons do have a lot of weak episodes still some like Spookyfish are better than all the slop they made in the last decade combined
>>
>>214460788

still having passion and guts is a heckin lot more important than being rich old farts with "good" writing
>>
South Park was never well written. It has always been the equivalent of a shitpost. That being said, that episode in the rainforest was their best work.

He also thought the WoW episode was going to be so bad that he wanted to pull it from airing because it would "ruin the legacy of South Park". It of course it then went on to be one of the best episodes ever.
>>
>>214463412
It's perfectly well written for a sitcom, once it gets going.
Lots of good episodes where they take a stupid idea, and let it play out, while making some kind of point about the world at the same time.
The episode about the South Park flag for example is something with a good set up, and a good pay off.

>>214463814
>how mad we are at trump
I hate how the average viewer has zero clue why they are suddenly ripping on Trump, so I'll spoonfeed you just this once.

It's not just an ORANAGE MAN BAD like every other show. South Park is specifically pissing off Trump because of Paramount. Paramount lost it's bogus lawsuit with South Park and where forced to pick up the show for 1.5 billion dollars. Paramount is also currently trying to do a merger with Skydance which is under the Trump Administration. So Paramount has been cancelling shows that hate on Trump to get on their good side, like the Colbert show. So South Park comes along with full creative freedom thanks to winning the lawsuit and are now hard ripping on trump just to troll Paramount.
>>
>>214460788
Lol he's apologising for the genuine libertarian seasons. Sorry Mr Rosenberg.
>>

>>
He think his satire now is high brow obviously. I mean he has Vance lube up Satan's asshole ha ha.
>>
South park peaked from season 3-10

after season 10 theres an immediate dip in quality as bill hader comes onboard and matt/trey take a backseat to complete the book of mormon.

After that the show never recovered and began to suck. Im not sure if matt/trey just became faggots due to their massive success after this point but south park almost immediately became unfunny and laboured. Even when matt/trey began writing again.
>>
>>214463977
Also note the first 3-4 eps of season 11 are passable but this may be because they're ideas leftover from the last season or due to the mid-season break.

After this point south park never recovered.
>>
>>214463977
I do distinctly remember something about 11 felt less funny. I think that was when they did the headlice episode.
>>
>the 300 parody with Garrison
Oh yeah. That one fucking sucks.
>>
>>214463871
If this is true, that's funny. But that first episode just felt so cheap with its humor. Making Trump Saddam Hussein for some reason, which is just rehashing a used up character instead of doing something new with Trump, and then repeating the "tiny penis" joke until running it into the ground. Not clever, just cheap. I really wanted some smart commentary at some point and it really didn't come. Just more "tiny penis hee hee.:
>>
>>214460788
he doesn't hate the show, he hates his earlier self
>>
>>214463814
>thousands of man hours
they throw together episodes in a week sometimes
>>
>>214460788
The first four seasons are by far the best. There are alright episodes after that, but 1-4 is peak
>>
>>214460788
The show didn't get good until S4 though
>>
>>214464059
The thing about Trump seethers is they can't actually do good takedowns on Trump, because whenever they see him on camera, or hear anything about him, they just see red and rage.
What they think Donald Trump is isn't even a person. It's some reflection of their own mania.

Why are they trying to discern the size of another man's cock, anyway?
>>

The childish small dick jokes enraged Trump more than any other show ever did. The White House (Trump) made an official statement about South Park after the episode, that's how mad he was.

I think S9E9 "Marjorine" is one of the best episodes and is a perfect example of how the show is at its best when the kids are just being kids.
The b-plot with Butters' parents handling his faked suicide is also hilarious and was the first time we saw the Fred Gwynne in Pet Sematary guy who hilarious everytime they bring him back.

That why death of the author is important, like you see 60-year-olds with horrible takes on their old movies all the time, or in the worst cases making new versions of their old movies. Truth is you're not the same person at 60 that you were in your 20s.
