>>214477820Im an incel but I really enjoy period romances like pride and prejudice. Check that out if you haven’t. I might be the only person on this board who saw a movie called tulip fever. I really enjoyed it despite the reviews
I can get classic if you want me to.
Romance as a genre has been so dead for so long I actually referred to this as a romcom in polite conversation recently.

>>214479977>His Girl FridayWelcome from one classic film anon to another! His Girl Friday should be required viewing for any film fan. I don't think it's terribly romantic (though Ros Russell and Cary Grant have great chemistry) but it's absolutely one of the funniest movies ever made. Some serious stuff too about the 'gentlemen of the press' to quote Ros. >A Letter to Three Wives>The Little FoxesNot sure how romantic these are either, especially Foxes. It's a brilliant movie to be sure but it's about familial infighting. >The Philadelphia Story>Ball of FireNow you're talking romance! More classic comedy and romance. Barbara Stanwyck is my favorite actress so I'll recommend another of her lesser known films - Remember the Night. Very funny and pretty romantic, Mitch Leisen directed the Preston Sturges script. It was on this film that Sturges promised Barbara he'd write a great comedy for her - turned out to the They Lady Eve (my fave film for both Stanwyck and Sturges).
>>214480926I've yet to watch Remember the Night. I know about it already though. These are just most things in my film cache. Things I have to watch or like one I have watched.
>>214477820Is this the Justin Lee Collins biopic?
Cold Mountain, it’s also the best film about the Civil War ever made.
>>214477820Shakespeare in Love
>>214477975Oh I skimmed over this I’m sorry, don’t watch Cold Mountain then it’s pretty dark and graphic. Try:The Princess BridePride & Prejudice (2005)Cinderella (2015)10 Things I Hate About YouHow To Lose A Guy In 10 Days (cringe kino)

>>214481278>Pride & Prejudice (2005)A local theater showed this three times last week. I went to every one. Brilliant movie. Keira is gorgeous, smart, funny. >Cinderella (2015)One of the few live action adaptations I've seen, and the only one I liked (not even close - I couldn't stand the others). Lily is perfect in that role.

>>214482460>One of the few live action adaptations I've seenIt’s the only one worth seeing. Kenneth Branagh would make billions for Disney if they got him to direct the other Disney princess movies.
>>214482759>money?
>>214482759The only other ones I've seen are Beauty and the Beast (I'm a big fan of both the Cocteau and Disney animated versions, for very different reasons obviously), and Maleficent (very much against my will, even sitting through the trailer was difficult). I thought about walking out on Beauty about 20 minutes in and I should have. For Maleficent, it did lead to some really good sex with the chick who wanted to see it so I guess that's a draw (though years later it isn't - it pisses me off that Disney ruined their best villain with that stupid back story to make her sympathetic. Wtf, Disney? She's a fucking demon ffs). Agreed about Bronaugh, the combination of him directly and cutie Natalie Portman got me to watch the first Thor (at home admittedly, no way I'm paying for that crap lol). Next romance recommendation: Saw this posted here a few weeks ago so I got me to rewatch it. Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour might just be the most relentlessly handsome leading couple ever.

>>214477820My favorite romance film, and one my all-time favorites in general. It always makes me cry.
>>214478596Here's an underrated classic Hollywood romance: Judy Garland in The Clock. She meets a soldier on leave and they fall in love before he has to ship out. Cliched? Yep but kino.
