Zach obviously likes playing with the storyline in order to reveal information, giving you exposition without having it told to you. He doesn't want you leaving the theater confused like hereditary. I appreciate that, it makes analyzing the themes more interesting when you understand what's going on. This is obviously Zach dealing with Trevor Moore's death, josh brolin especially shows the anger he feels with grief. Where barbarian felt like Zach making a movie that he knew he could sell, this feels like Zach making a movie that he needed to make. It's great
