what does /tv/ use to keep track of their movies and what they thought of them?I don't want to use something like imdb but something more simpler and grounded to what I want
Rain Man like memory
I use /tv/
If movies were meant to be remembered forever they wouldn't end after a couple hours
>>214485875Use Excel or pen & paper.IMDB is for jeets and pacosLettreboxed is for plebbitors and zoomersEverything else is too niche
>>214485887I hate how the only comment that understands what I mean is a joke
watchlist.txt for tracking movies I plan to watch, sorted by year and countrymovies.txt for movies I watched
>>214485990I'd like pictures, I love pictures :)
>>214486031
>>214486073I don't see pictures :(
>>214486073ohI meant pics and is coversthanks for the screenshot though
I use letterboxd to keep track of my watched movies and my watchlist, i think it has a better user interface than imdb and its pretty convenient
>>214486082Letterboxd is perfect for you, it's just posters and posters and posters all over the screen all the time, disgusting mess of color for adhd babies.
>>214485949i use excel for books and imdb for movies>IMDB is for jeets and pacosso is 4chins yet here you are
I download every movie I watch and put a note file with my review in its folder
>>214485875A notepad file. Movie name+date I watched it. I've done this since high school.
letterboxd. it’s actually decent if you block all the top users
>>214485875Metacritic user reviews.
>>214486755>it’s actually decent if you block all the top usersYeah, the only ones left would be braindead tranime-loving zoomers and Eastern European arthoes with the shittiest taste imaginable.
>>214485875I use the Cinemaniac app. No social media features or other pointless bullshit. No faggoty reviews either, just the option to rate a movie out of 5 stars. It's basically a list of movies you want to watch or have watched. Anything else is a distraction from watching kino.
>>214485875Digital notepad
I have two folders: movies I have watched and will not watch again. Movies I have watched and will watch again
>>214485875I've been using IMDb since 2003, but I've been using it way less ever since they shutdown the forums in 2017 or whenever it was. I used to spend hours just trawling the forums reading posts that were years-old, and the best part was that you could reply to those posts. There were countless threads there that had been active for years, some more than a decade.
>>214485875>Download movie>watch>if I like it, it goes into my plex>if I dont like it, i delete it
My brain.
>>214485875>I don't want to use something like imdb but something more simpler and groundedThe fuck is overly complicated about IMDB?
>>214489303im surprised imdb is still going desu. thought it would have declined over the last 5 years but somehow it's still going.
>>214485875I got into Notion a couple years ago for work, so I use a simple database (visualizable as a timeline, a social media-style chronological list, etc) for the movies and tv shows I watch, with a simple 1-5 stars system to "rate" them.
>>214485887I'm with this guy. I simply remember every movie I've seen that I like. I've seen a lot of movies too. I am Rain Man only I'm just smart enough to hide my true nature from normies and I never smack myself in the head. I've even gotten laid many times. But yeah I have a super memory and a high IQ so I see all you faggots with your lists and digital notepads and rating systems and I'm like uhhhhhh can't you just use your fucking brain to do all that work for you? For example my brain rates Rain Man at a 136 points out of 152. Will I ever watch it again? Maybe. Next movie. Sheeeet y'all are such a bunch of midwit spergs thanks for the laughs today ITT it helps my giant ego stay giant.
i use libreoffice
>>214485887do you remember exactly every movie you've ever seen or have you forgotten one or two? if you forgot, which movie was it?
>>214485875>keep track of their movies and what they thought of themi don't do thisbut i use imdb to keep track of what i want to watch using their watchlist
>>214486747how long is that list?
>>214492035around 4000-6000 films, I had a period when I watched 2 or 3 movies a day but lately it's been more like once a week
>>214492255>4000-6000this doesn't make sense.. you have to watch 1 movie a day for 30 years to see these much movie.. are you like 50 years old???
>>214485875pic relatedIts ok, i dont log tv shows but I did get my review for A Serbian Film removed for what reason I have no idea. All i said was 'Its like an edgy 4channer made a movie' or something to that effect.
>>214488008meds! now!
>>214492774>you have to watch 1 movie a day for 30 years to see these much movieNot that anon, but that would be more than 10000 movies. I've been logging what I watch since the first years of the century and my list has 5095 movies (plus some shorts and miniseries).
>>214489303the imdb forums died back in 2012 when woodyanders and Hermit-C2 suicided themself
>>214485887i wish i had a good memory(for certain things), but at the same time i oft forget a movie i watched so i can enjoy it again (and again)
>>214485875goddamn why does no one mention TMDB in these threads?its such a useful and free website u and even better than IMDB because they let you use their API for free (IMDB is paid only)in the age of chatGPT you can easily use the TMDB api to make any kind of movie lookup or categorization system you want. also this site is awesome because its what every single free movies streaming site uses for data, thumbnails, keywords, director, budgets etc. this is the source you use if you ever wanted to make your own streaming site. https://www.themoviedb.orghttps://developer.themoviedb.org/reference/intro/getting-started>Popular Movieshttps://www.themoviedb.org/movie^ this is the source of most "popular" feeds on streaming sites
>>214485875im not autistic and dont keep lists of every movie ive ever watched, why the hell would i do that? is that a zoomer nerd thing or an autistic nerd thing? its hard to tell the diff these days, i guess im too old and out of touch with the common movie watcher if thats a normal thing to do now lol
>>214494689amazon bought tmdb, we aint shills
>>214494831good lol that explains why its free
>>214488008That's what I use. I save it on my desktop.
Letterboxd
>>214494723im super autistic and on the spectrum about every nerdy thing you can imagine and even i think doing that whole culture of LOL I HAVE EVERY MOVIE I EVER WATCHED LOGGIN MY TRANNYBOXD ACCNT is gay and retarded as fuck
>>214494689use case of using the API for doing whatever the fuck you can do with it? why not just use the site
>>214495025so i can go into my terminal and type>$ movie listand have a dropdown list on my computer giving my options:>lookup movie>add movie to watched>rate movie>add to watchlistand i can go>$ movie search shane carruth>$ movie genre thrillerand its just like using the website, but with the API it can be in my own ways to display information faster.its much faster to track and look stuff up this way, for me that means ill actually do it a lot. letterboxd DOES NOT allow you access to an API, because they want you using the website all day, commenting like a fag with randoms.
>>214495104>with the API it can be in my own ways to display information fasterI won't call you a tinkertranny because you're nice and explained it to me, but I'm sure as hell thinking it>commentingnah don't care
>>214495136depends on how much movies you like and trying to remember them, its just easier for me to type into terminal>$ movie watched ex machina>api does a lookup, gives me results of lookups>i pick the actual accurate result, gets simply logged however (movie id, genre, time)its just about the simplicity and quickness for me. other anons do the same thing when they log something into a spreadsheet, just takes more effort for them. thats why i bring up chatGPT it can do the heavy lifting you just need to ask the right questions.
I always thought it was completely useless to keep a list of movies I've seen but it's actually great since I rarely rewatch movies I disliked (it only happens around 5 times a year or so, and I imagine it'd happen 10x if I didn't keep a list)
I keep a faplist (girls and clips, scenes I've fapped to) so I'm sure I never fap to same girl twice.
>>214485875I use imdb
>>214489998>somehowYeah the trillions they make off ad revenue there must be really challenging for them.
>>214492774>this doesn't make senseNTA but i'm 45.It's do-able. Not everyone here is 17.
>>214496257It's only the most famous movie database in the world and the second Google search for every movie in existence after Wikipedia. How they are staying afloat is just incomprehensible. Surely everyone was visiting it for the forums, or so an autistic subset of millennials crying about it would lead you to believe.
