Dr. Powell (Jeff Bridges) wasn't necessarily an alien but more of a lizard person as most academicic psychologists tend to be.

such a great movie
I forgot that movies can actually keep the mystery throughout the whole movie and not reveal it even at the end in a way that doesn't feel annoying and instead is a nice talking point
