>>214492045I really dont undrstand the lebubus. What is the appeal? they are all the same looking thing
>>214493424the appeal is penis bo benis (look it up)
>>214493424Its just the most recent beanie babies or tulips, just hyper accelerated because the target demo are narcissists addicted to social media.
>>214493424Troll dolls but less ugly.
>>214494139it's 12 year old girls dude
>>214493424>women/babbies first taste of gachaThat's all.On a fundamental level labubus do possess desirable qualities. These qualities are:>furry bodyThis fulfills the comfort/cute dimension>kinda ugly, unpleasant, faceThis embodies the 'fierce' dimension, a quality especially desirable to women who tend to be the weaker sex in life. The fierceness and ugliness juxtaposed with the cuteness also serves to amplify the cute factor. Now add colours, now add gacha, and you have the trappings of a desirable product. There are more qualities on a higher level though that probably make them resonate with women, but these things are less easily divined. The name itself is stupid enough in English to resonate with a lot of people, but again this is just white people's first taste of Chinese cute aggression naming (fan bingbing, li bingbing, li jingjing, etc).
>>214493424Forced fake trend. In the past these kinds of trends would be dictated by what's on TV and some amount of luck.Today it's just Chinese and Indian clickfarms or just straight up AI bots. It's no different from Dubai chocolate or k-pop. Nothing about it is organic. No one saw these things without being already indoctrinated and decided they like them and want to collect them.Once there is a forced trend it will also attract people looking for the next goldmine, the next funkopop that they can buy for cheap now and sell for thousands years later when it turns out the pink labubu is ultra rare.
>>214494894That's just the entire industry in general.Pokemon is a forced fake trend too even if it's an unpopular opinion with people.
>>214494965Pokemon had organic roots. The games were popular and people liked the anime, and Pikachu is actually a really good design and it's unlikely that single model will ever go away. The pokemon brand hasn't produced anything good for maybe 25 years. The trend was real but it's being kept on life support artificially.
>>214492045Basedmilk is LITERALLY me.
>>214493424Women were told its popular so they spend money on it.
>>214495080It had no more organic roots than the rest of Sanrio's lineup or the power rangers. It's exactly the same as the rest.Pokeballs are literally gashopon capsules. If Labubu gets a really good anime adaptation and some really good TCG/tabletop/video game tie-in it would be indistinguishable from Pokemon. These things are all the same.
>>214495198Pokemon was a game first though that's a big difference, beanie babies is a much better comparison but at least with those you know what your buying.
>>214493424Japan-inspired Asia-style fad: different colors of a qt gimmick. No iconic personality
Actors being asked about fad trinkets or shows on red carpet shows there's no more popculture left on the west. Creativity replaced by idpol.
>>214492045socially acceptable, western women's first taste of gacha
>>214493424first i thought they were creepy, tehn i thought what if i am scared of them just as i am scared of my own shadows -you know demons or how some refer to it, then i realized, what if my demons are labubus and not really evil but heavily mischevious and ultimately loveable? and so i got one gifted rather accidently. i adore how women customize the shit out of them, they boil them in colours, pop their eyes out, paint, add glitter, feathers, use nifty thinking to come up with bigger monstrocities than labubu itself and then wear it on their belt like kali collecting heads
>>214495661Games don't pop out of nowhere. It always starts first with concept and concept art.I guarantee you pokemon concept art preceded the games.
