>>214495016fpbpIt's my biggest gripe with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, and Raised By Wolves. It's only implied in Prometheus, and in RBW it's a subtext. In Raised By Wolves, besides the pairing of the "mother and father" androids - which I took not only as metaphor for an interracial couple, but (with the "Mother" character's interesting androgyny) also as metaphor for a relationship between two men, or a man and a transgender person (none of which, the interracial subtext, the homosexual subtext, or the transgender relationship subtext I find disagreeable btw - I found all of those subtexts interesting and worthwhile - a very sensitive and nuanced exploration of relationships often subject to bigotry - I *like* those themes and ideas in the show), ... besides that, none of the space colonists on the colony mission are of the same race. iirc, among the Mithraic colonists there might be one European man and woman in a family, but I think it's an explicit plot point that they can't actually have children. All children or teenager colonists are of different races, with the implication being that the future of the colony will be totally mixed race. I get the sense that this isn't something Ridley Scott actually wants to put into his films and projects, and that it's something he has to do to get his stuff funded. It's not really a thing in his movies pre-2012 (as far as I know, I haven't seen them all).So I can't exactly hold it against him, given it's not a factor in his best movies. I also, as I attempted to convey above, actually am ok with some of these ideas. I thought Raised By Wolves was generally very sensitive. As a bisexual who has enjoyed relationships with people of my sex and who has seen bigotry in action, I think the balanced approach of Raised By Wolves is to be commended.But. The implication of a totally mixed race future is very distasteful to me.Fine even with race mixing as a theme, so long as the other side of the story is told.
