>DUDE THE PREQUELS AND THE ACOLYTE ARE THE SAMEWhen did RLM lose it?
the fact is that andor is actually closer to the "true" realisation of the prequelshalf of it is just politics, it's not even 'real' star wars (probably why it's so kino)
>>214496638>>214496674Anyone who watches Disney Wars should be shot.
>>214496690andor is the only exception and I truly despise nu-wars
I stopped watching them after they said every prequel fan is an idiot. There is such a stupid vindictive hatred behind their opinions about the prequels.
>>214496690Who's gonna be on the firing squad? Gotta ask the real questions
>>214496638It all goes back to Mike saying>"I loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be" re: The Force AwakensHe could never live up to this moment so he had to retroactively obfuscate to cover his pride. He can't concede that the prequels are better but he can lower Disneyslop to prequels tier as a sort of critical equilibrium. Basically, he's a coward.
>>214496690Anyone who watches Star Wars should be shot
>>214496638Um, day one?
>>214496759He has burning envy over Lucas.
>>214496638Mike starting the Revenge of the Sith Plinkett with one long cope rant anout how people saying they liked the movie are actually wrong about enjoying it was the most patchetic manchild "stop liking what i dont like" thing he had ever done until he made that video which is nothing but him running through a laundry list of cope for why people are saying they liked the prequels.
>>214496638They never had it to begin with
ITT seething zoomers
What are the most cringe Plinkett takes on the prequels?>there's too many lightsabers! Why are there more lightsabers in the prequel where more jedi were alive?
>>214496638I have been known to brap
>>214496721>andor is the only exceptionNo, it's not.
>>214496674The prequels are consumed with politics tho, they have the same amount of politics/game theory/strategizing scenes as the og. Their is a total like 7 minutes of senate chamber scenes in the entire prequel trilogy. lol.
>>214497783*aren't
>>214497597>>214497597>>214497597Because it's retarded. Why do they all need lightsabers to begin with? Yoda didn't have a lightsaber in the original OG star wars. Lucas had bad ideas, that's why the prequels are stuffed with like a huge buffet of stupid snack foods that Lucas thought he needed for relevancy. When you make something like the lightsaber ubiquitous- then it sort of loses it's relevance. Especially when you're a Jedi still getting ganked by robots with guns. I guess naming a guy "General Grievance" and giving him a bunch of lightsabers was supposed to be ironic- considering Obi Wan shot him to death with a laser gun instead. So fucking retarded. Just infantile writing. No wonder the prequels are such enormous clusterfucks.
>>214497887>Why do they all need lightsabers to begin with?"A jedi's signature weapon" - literally A New Hope
>>214496786They like them because of nostalgia, and potentially due to the few highlights that make them watchable. I don't think they're watchable. I think they're derivative garbage, but you also couldn't pay me to watch Return of the Jedi given how middling it is compared to the other two older films. Everything about the prequels is boring dialogue, with terrible camera work. It's some of the laziest film making ever and directing maybe ever. George seriously thought he could make an entire movie in front of a green screen, put star wars in the title and it would "just work." Of course, movies actually need something interesting in them. Like good characters, good dialogue, a decent story. I can't think of single exciting sequence or fun moment between any of the characters in the prequels. Not one. I guess if you like the actors that's fine- it's not their fault the movies turned out to be so terrible. To this day I have never re watched any of the prequels, and I went to the first two films in theaters as a teenager. They're terrible movies with nothing unique about them except the designs Lucas signed off on. Those were neat I guess, plus the games were mostly okay.
>>214497999Chicken and the egg situation. One guy says it, but Vader doesn't even pull his out for a whole nother movie. The Emperor doesn't even have one. Luke builds two. Leia never had one. What's your point? They did a lot more with a lot less, and it never took away from the fact that people didn't have them.
Why do they make fun of people for being nostalgic about stuff when multiple times a year they can't help but go "Dude Gremlins is the best movie ever. Remember Gremlins? Man Gremlins was great. Gremlins made me into who I am today. I love Gremlins. Yep, Gremlins, that's how they made them back then"
>>214498041The fuck? Vader uses a lightsaber in every movie.
>>214497610swap KK with SW fans, and it is more accurate
>>214497597All of the "x is different than original" complaints is annoying. Obv. Lucas wanted the original and prequels to be different artistically, everything down to the dialogue sounding different was intended but Mike is so far up his own ass to give Lucas credit for making them look and feel different. This was the guy that praised jj abrams and TFA, so can't expect much ig.
>>214497597his point was that the more you wave lightsabers around the less special they become. they were more of a rarity in the original trilogy due to the special effects involved, so usually whenever a lightsaber came out it was more of a big deal. but in the prequels they just whip them out constantly for no reason at all and it's like being a Jedi revolves around the lightsaber and fighting, when Obi Wan and Yoda implied it was more mystic and monklike than that.>>214497887Star Wars became consuemd by its own place in pop culture. Obi Wan dressed up like that in ANH because that's how people on Tatooine dressed but then that got retconned into being how Jedi dress which is fucking retarded because that means Obi Wan spent decades hiding out on Tatooine dressed up like a Jedi and somehow never got caught, and that for some reason all Jedi collectively decided to dress like people who live in the desert.>>214498007it's still insane to me he refused to work with anyone else. i think he tried to find directors who all turned him down but he could have at least worked with another screenwriter, maybe find a young director to work with on it kind of in the spirit of where he was when he made the first Star Wars. >>214498110anon Darth Vader being a fallen Jedi Knight is central to his character, of course he has a lightsaber. and he has an evil red lightsaber as and inversion of the good blue and green lightsabers.
>>214498043gremlins is the best movie ever
>>214496638>When did RLM lose it?When they made the Plinkett reviews. Never watch those if you haven't.
>>214496638Wans't he being somewhat sarcastic? It seemed to be critisizing how younger fans would bitch about Acolyte while praising the prequels that he hated.
>>214496638Acolyte is good in the same way the prequels are good.
>>214496638RENTFREE
>>214498730there was nothing wrong with the direction of the sequels though, just the writing and planning.
Go. Back.
>>214496638They've been exposed for their grift.
RLM didn't lose it you are just a fragile idiot looking for validation of your opinions
>>214499327are you fucking insane?
>>214499776what problems in direction specifically did the sequels have in comparison to the prequels? again i'm not talking about the writing or story, i'm talking specifically the decisions Abrams, Johnson and Lucas all made as directors outside of the scope of those things like how they chose to shoot the movies, directing actors, the visual style, how they worked with the other department heads and production staff. both the prequels and sequels have shit writing, the only thing to really compare them on is the direction and execution.
They never lost it because they never had it. Other than the first prequel video essay what else is worth watching? Their old video praising Abram's Trek should've tipped more people off that something was wrong. They wallow deep in trash movies and irony. From what I've seen they don't seem capable of being sincere for a second and actively run away from it. Worthless.
>>214499327I unironically agree. With the right kind of direction and a better overarching story- it could have been genuinely great, but ironically- star wars fans are fucking retarded and ruin everything by continuing to buy the same dumb slop every year. They are literally addicts. They can't live without reliving the glory days or buying a chewbacca coffee mug. Yes, they really are the problem.
>>214496721>andor is the only exception and I truly despise nu-wars>>214497630Agreed. The exception is Mandolorian.
>>214497610has disney tried making good movies?
>>214496638>after 20 years the seething was finally dying down>plinkett makes a single observation>new truthnuke that destroys prequeltards for another 20 yearsyou own the acolyte now, accept it, it is an honorary prequel
>>214499387grifter tries to outgrift griftershow far does this rabbit hole go?
>>214496638YMMV, but for me it’s when Mike called Midnight Mass the best thing in 10 years and ranted about how people didn’t understand the monologues.
>>214501280i recently watched that one and i don't remember either of them saying that. they were just clowning on people who write retarded reviews on rotten tomatoes all complaining about the monologues and not actually criticizing them or the substance of Midnight Mass.
>>214499327True. The cinematography is really good in those movies also, but there's just no overall plan or actual thought to connect them all together. It's what makes them so lackluster.
>>214497610Lucas is responsible for Lloyd and all of the acting in the prequels, it's not enough to say "woops that was never my strong suit anyway". He also had little narrative reason to make Anakin that young, it was a commercial ploy to increase ticket sales with the target audience.
Does Jay need help leaving RLM? He can't possibly be on board with all the senile shit Mike is doing.
>>214496638Did they actually say this? These faggots praised the ACKolyte though?
>>214496674Lucas wanted to make something like Andor but had no idea how to write it.Gilroy pretty much made the Star Wars that Lucas had always wanted to make but didn't know how.
>>214502125They never praised it, Mike used the same arguments retards like you use for the prequel trilogy and applied to the Acolyte in a satirical way.
I've gotta confess, I DID like the Plinkett review of The Last Jedi where he pointed out that the movie is written and structured like a comedy. TLJ was basically a pinata that everybody got a whack at, but RLM's particular criticism of it felt original and not something I saw in a lot of other places.
>>214502999How could they think this looks fine?
Post your favourite Mikes
>>214496638
>>214496638He's right though. The fact that filonislop gets praised while original titles like The Acolyte or Skeleton Crew are overlooked is why Star Wars is dying. Enjoy your Baby Yoda movie.
>>214503097Star Wars doesn't need to "live." Ironically the Plinkett reviews themselves directly made this point. As Plinkett asks in the ROTS review, "Is this a story that needed to be told?". You can make the argument that the prequels needed to be told, but none of the "content" produced since is something we ever actually needed, especially not any of Disney's shit. Star Wars was, basically, a completed story.
>>214497887Yoda didn't have one because he was in hiding in a fucking swamp. Kenobi didn't keep his on him either, he left it at the bottom of a chest.
