>weirdo musician active in the 60s and 70s
>extremely outspoken and constantly giving interviews
>didn't touch drugs
He was definitely working for some 3-letter agency.

I'm gonna say it. Frank Zappa filters me.

Probably Quentin Tarantino, both tell unique stories through their art.

listen to Hot Rats first. and maybe other similar 70s prog bands.

unless he was ok with black people doing drugs, I doubt it

I'll give it a shot, thanks. I will say that this song is pretty fucking great to me and makes me want to check out his discography.

Exact opposite. He was an authentic artist amongst CIA circus freaks like Jim Morrison.

Kubrick

Zappa, i had to learn about different types of music, play music myself, and stop expecting songs to have pretty melodies to fully appreciate. He's got excellent musicianmanship, his lyrics are ok, and a lot of work to appreciate. I do admire the fact that he made a career out of making 20th century art music compositions, with the dumb songs he made helping fund it. He also put on incredible concerts and held his bands to a very high standard, which they met.

Yeh Hot Rats is the accepted entry into Zappa. After that, I'd say Apostraphe, then Overnite Sensation or One Size Fits All
>>
>if you don't know shit about music and make bad music you're a fool
>if you're a musical expert and make bad music you're a brilliant
I like some of Zappa's songs but a lot of his other stuff is just awful
>>
>>214517414
>perfectionist autist who released 10000 different projects of varying quality
>the good stuff is amazing and the bad stuff is some of the most bottom tier shit you've ever seen or heard
godard
>>
>>214518416
what do you consider good and what do you consider bad?
>>
>>214518437
by godard or zappa? i think everyone agrees most of godard's 60s work is top tier, even with some of the commie stuff. by the 80s you literally have political clipshow essays
i like grand wazoo by zappa, but like godard, some of his 80s stuff is atrocious

He was ok with the legalization of drugs, but he was against any of his band members using it since a junky musician would have been a liability for the whole band because musicians were easily targeted by law enforcement. He also did criticize the 60's drug culture since he felt that it was being pushed by record labels for nefarious reasons.

>hot rats instead of over-nite sensation and joe's garage
this is genuinely, unironically a pure reddit opinion. You have put 0 thought into it and have no knowledge yourself, just repeating other retards who are also repeating retards. Kill yourself, genuinely.
