The memes are making me want to check out the show, along with the Resurrection praise. But Dexter fans always have mixed opinions on the original run. Is it worth getting invested or should I just settle for Doakes memes?

I'm watching the original run right now, a few episodes in and its enjoyable enough, doakes is the best character though, does he get more screentime as it goes on?
