How would you fix it?
or is it just over?
>>
it's just over
>>
>>214521666
its over satan. all mvs are released on youtube anyway.
>>
>>214521682
This. Why would anyone watch a music video channel when they can just find the video on Youtube. It’s been over for decades and just reality TV garbage
>>
>>214521666
Jackass Boot Camp
>>
>>214521666
It's over, Satan
>>
>>214521666
Viva La Bam 2
Aeon Flux reboot
>>
can't have MTV without good music
>>
I would focus on video games and live streaming.
Would have a show where an older comedian plays video games with a kid, badly.
Maybe make a reality tv show following professional gamers, who also use streaming sites to play vidya in their down time.
I would create a late night block to rival adult swim, it would have anime, adult cartoons, talk shows, all aimed at zoomers and gen alpha.
Bring back headbangers ball and yo mtv raps but as online shows uploaded to youtube and on streaming.
>>
>>214521666
It was over a million years ago
>>
>>214522286
So G4 which bombed even harder & went out of business even faster, and that's not even taking into account their "comeback". All that crap is already available on YouTube & twitch. Just let it fucking die
>>
>>214522286
why? that shit can be done on twitch and you'd have the chat to post emotes in there rather than watching a tv show with not interaction.
>>
Why don't they just make an MTV Youtube channel where they post cool playlists of music videos. Maybe also sprinkle in random cool/funny/weird videos.
>>
>>214521666
Its over even if you ignore the quality of current music -- they just do not put any artistry or spectacle into music videos now, probably because they do not have to.
>>
>>214521825
>>214522475

Well, people would have music videos on in the background when hanging out with their friends, anon. Not that you'd know anything about that.
>>
>>214521666
Some crazy ass dating shows like back in the day. Some reality tv shows. Honestly some of those shows they could reboot.

First I would need either a time machine or a genie.

Because I cannot think of a way to fix it. There are too many problems.
>No one under 55 watches broadcast tv so it's never getting young viewership
>The music industry is mostly dead and is not really in control of youth culture at all
>There is no real mainstream music culture any more either
>No one really cares about music videos either
>MTV has been dead for a decade and a half, we are a generation or more of it not even being for teens at all so there is no getting them back since they have no frame of reference as a teen entertainment thing
>They haven't bothered with music in little over two decades so an even wider amount of people do not think of it as a place for music anything

Don't bother, just try to come up with something new to corner Youth Culture based on modern trends
>>
>>214523142
I can only see a Beavis and Butt-Head kind of thing where you have some personalities watching the videos and commenting on them, making jokes etc.

Do they still show music videos Top 10, Top 20 and all that?
>>
>>214521666
.........how?

All their competition is free like YouTube, Tiktok, Livestream, Spotify... They only beat out radio back in the 80s because they provided more than what radio can do. Here in 2025 it can only be less. Just watching things that are not of your own choice, no chat in the corner where you can talk to people, get their attention or spam shit. And it's only available on some pay service.
>>
>>214523310
You’re brown or black. Those are the obly people play music videos at a get together over just playing a playlist
>>
>>214523369
That's just streamers, but commercialized. Which is almost never ever as good as the indy guys doing it out of their own houses.

We are about a decade past the era of channels really trying super hard to commercialize on the streamer thing with Let's Play type shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

It's been over since 2010, Satan.
Western animation has been in the gutter since 2010.
Music is shit, I mean its always shit the more you get older, but still.
There will never be another Jackass.
There will never be another "The Osbournes"
You can't get away will a show like Wonder Showzen today.

So there's no going back and fixing it.
You can't really bring back the music videos, because with Youtube you can look up a music video instantly. So no one is gonna sit through an hour of music videos to see the music video they want to see.
With mp3 players, satelite radio, and dozen and dozens of online music programs, no one is gonna put Mtv morning music videos one while they get ready for work to hear music.
You can't bring back Mike Judge and the like to make new adult cartoons. As I said above, western animation sucks now, so no one is gonna watch it.
There's no replacing the Jackass crew. So they can't do another stunt show.
No one gives a shit about reality families and the illusion of them, so they can't do another Osbournes.

Just let it die, or make it "studio" like they've been doing for the last 12 years.
Just about everything Paramount makes has that "Mtvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv" thing before the show. Just kill the channel and make it a producer.
We'll all just have to live with the idea of people saying "Why is Mtv the producer or this? This has nothing to do with music. (Yellowstone).
And children asking what Mtv is or not knowing it used to be music television.
>>
>>214523584
Judge actually has a new season of Beavis and Butt-Head out now, started two weeks ago.
Outside of that, you might be able to make an adult cartoon, but kids are not watching cartoons at all. Adults you might be able to grab since they watch Family Guy etc.

Everything else, yeah,
You're not getting another Obsournes since there have not been any metal superstars that you can show at home any more. Mainstream music has been dead too long now as well.

Live music, from big names to indies
Make exclusivity contracts with up and coming artists
More adult animation including anime

>>214521825
I like not knowing what comes next like in a ramdom spotify playlist full of unknown music

Incorrect. It appears you are coping because you may feel inadequate after seeing my comment. :)
>>

Try to find friends you can meet with irl, I promise it makes a difference.
>>
>>214521666
Just run VH1 programming from the 2000s
>>
>>214523451
I am really fascinated by this logic. You appear to take issue with the fact that it is actually just a nice time to have friends over while casually watching videos without needing to curate them. And then you imagined a quality that you percieve as beneath you somehow (having brown skin) which you ascribed to me. Therefore this comfy activity is actually somehow bad because you have not tried it. Anon... I am sorry your life is not going the way you'd like but there is still hope. You don't need to hate on people, you can just do nice things and things will get better.

As per usual zoomers are discussing the boring tech/marketing aspect instead of the music aspect… elephant in the room is that the programs that once got mega-ratings such as 120 minutes can no longer be done because there aren’t enough zoomer bands/artists who can perform.

Who the fuck would they get to compete with something like

https://youtu.be/TGYTHQugWvo
>>
>>214524127
Only people I’ve ever seen that have music videoes going at parties is blacks playing a bunch of rap and R&B video bullshit or spics with a bunch of spic music videos garbage. And they all look the same and suck!
>>
>>214521666
>lean into the music side of things
>create music streaming app with exclusive additional content like music videos, Headbangers Ball or similar podcasts, and other exclusive artist features from big money machines like Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter, whoever is the hottest ticket
>MTV films starts pumping out music biopics and documentaries
>throw huge music festivals with an MTV twist, have it hosted by a comedian or the Jackass guys
MTV still has value in their name, all they need to do is get it out there again and take a risk. What's there to lose at this point, a 24 hour loop of Ridiculousness? I wish I was a nepo baby or a rich fag who had enough pull to actually pitch these ideas.
>>
>>214524012
>vh1 i love the 1970s, 80s and 90s
kino
>>
>>214524425
There are plenty of Zoomer bands that are good they're just not popular outside of their particular niche. There is no singular "Zoomer band" because everyone has their own personal taste curated by a unique Spotify/Apple Music algorithm
>>

fpbp
>>
>>214521825
They stopped showing videos a decade before the internet was a thing. Reality TV slop.
>>
Play music videos without any reality shows. Have more niche, specialty blocks. Have international artist on and indie artist.
>>
>>214523389
Last time I saw it was with the lady gaga song, telephone. They had a morning show with top ten ranking.
>>
>>214523729
The thing is though Judge sucks now.
He's sucked since like 2009.
He tried to bring back Beavis and Butthead in like 2011. It looked like crap and got cancelled.
He's brought it back again, and it looks even worse, and now for some reason they're old men.
He brought King of the Hill back, and of course, it looked like crap and it wasn't very good at all. It wasn't downright terrible, but it wasn't as good as it was when KotH ended, and KotH wasn't very good after season 7.
Whoever Mike is getting to animate his stuff is cutting corners too much. I get that its all digital now, but Beavis and Butthead and KotH after 2011 has this janky animation and thick outline stuff going on that make it look like a flash cartoon or a whipped together tv promo or tie-in for a commercial for a product or channel.
2004 onward KotH didn't look bad, and it was digital, so why does 2011+ Judge stuff look like crap?
>>
>>214523310
Youtube has playlist and modern tv can play Youtube on it. It's just over. Mtv's niche has been taken and filled. There's no point for it anymore since the last decade
>>
>>214521666
Every day should be 12 hours of music videos, 4 hours of Beavis and Butt-head, 4 hours of Celebrity Deatmatch, 4 hours of Jackass
>>
>>214523341
The working class still can't get cable or internet. Millions have no access to music.
>>
>>214525992
I will always be annoyed that the ORIGINAL I love the 2000s "I Love the New Millennium" never got a proper ending.
They went from 2000-2007.
Yes, the show came out in 2008, but they could've release 1 episode each year afterword.
Then they just jumped to the 'I love the 2000's" in 2014 and it just wasn't as good.
And they stopped it completely.
I was hoping we'd get 3 more.
They did the 80's three times. So I was hoping for another 70s, 90s, 2000s.
And now we're halfway through the 20s, so you'd think we'd get I love the 20teens or the 20tens.
I'd watch it.
>>
>>214527804
Fuck yeah! They should definitely revive it. There was 2 mtv specials on one hit wonders from the 90s and a youtuber. does mtv award retrospectives.

Daria and aeon flux were better.

It's BEEN over for at least 20 years. They just show internet viral videos all day every day. The MTV Movie Awards were on fucking CBS last week for crying out loud. I was there for its peak. Late 80s to early 90s. Beavis & Butthead; those were good years. Music Videos all day and night with like 5 things that weren't music video related.
>>
Try was hype but not showing the entire video was the death knell of mtv. His tv show on nbc was pretty cool, lots of underrated kino and indie films would get promoted after he srooped interviewing people. Last film i remember was that Judy Greer where she talks about her career. It might have been a book.
>>
>>214521825
Music videos weren't even the main attraction for MTV before YouTube. MTV used to ha e a solid original programming lineup along with being the best channel for any music related news.
