This is how I'm seeing it. Burning a person you have a final 2 with at this stage in the game on your own hoh for highly questionable reasons fed to you by a mental patient seems so much worse than a lot of these. The only one that feels comparable is Danielle, but Dan is Dan.

He's trusting his other closest ally Morgan too much while also underestimating Ashley and Morgan's ability to control her. He has no reason to believe Morgan would betray him even if she hates Lauren, doesn't know what the outcome of the blockbuster will be and has been lead to believe that the votes are there for Lauren to stay if she loses blockbuster and he can split the tie to save her.

In his mind, by putting up Lauren it takes away her "never been nominated" resume builder making her more of a final 2 goat, he can win Ashley over as an ally by not nominating her, doesn't lose jury votes by taking out a fellow Judge on his HoH and can save Lauren with the split vote tiebreaker. Obviously it's a dumb move from our perspective to nominate a final 2 like Luaren, but there's a line of logic to it in his mind just like those other people. Also, if Keanu comes down and Lauren goes, I think there is a world they can make amends and target Morgan and Ashley.
