A hero prop is a prop that looks really nice for closeup shots or establishing shots where the weapon/prop is holstered or sitting on a table or something. That's in contrast to stunt props or others which are mass produced to look okay at 10ft but look like shit close up because they have to be more durable to deal with stuntwork and rough handling. Most hero props are pretty janky structurally and have to be handled pretty carefully.
