Some of the problems can't be fixed by fan edits.

Fan edits can't put proper dwarf beards on Thorin and Kili, nor can they age Thorin up.
Fan edits can't fix the dwarves being saved by the spiders.
Fan edits can't make the canon goblin scenes less bad.
Fan edits can't make Laketown not a weird Charles Dickens Victorian town for whatever reason they decided to do that
Fan edits can't fix Bilbo's confrontation with Smaug. They cannot, for instance, stop Bilbo from taking his ring off in front of Smaug or make him less of a wimpering pipsqueak.
