I don't know the consensus on this movie is but I just rewatched it and I don't like it. It is the most anti-film I have ever seen, and it is a stain on the legacy of the original film. So much CGI and green screen are used, it is insane, I think many people have forgotten this. Even for the most easiest scenes. They couldn't shoot in New York city for real? They couldn't shoot with a real boatship for a mere 2 second establishing shot for real? This is not real filmmaking. The praise for this movie at the time only comes from the spectacle of it and that it was Peter Jackson directing after the Lord of the Ring series. And Jack Black really does not fit the role of a movie director, he plays it like he is so obsessed with filmmaking that he comes off as a crazy person but like I said, it does not work. And King Kong is the only creature that looks great, every dinosaur or anything else looks bad because of CGI.

I liked it. It's a fun action film

What praise? Movie underperformed and sort of fizzled away from pubic consciousness after it was released. The only impact at the time was how violent it was. I remember news anchors showing the scene where King Kong kills the trex and says omg so violent. But truly the movie wasn’t as popular as you make it seem.

It's just Jackson masturbating for three hours.

the only noteworthy thing in this bloated movie is the worldbuilding they had for Skull Island

No, 2005 New York doesn't look like 1930 New York. In fact almost nothing in this film could be filmed practically. Do you think real dinosaurs exist? Of all the things that are an issue with this film, none of what you said applies.

>Original King Kong was 100 minutes
>Jackson's is 3 hours, and it somehow manages to feel like 7
I disliked it then and I dislike it now, it's a few good creature sequences buried in a fucking slog of a movie

Shit take. The movie feels huge in scope, which is fitting for the ape.

This Kong should’ve been fighting the 2014 Godzilla. Every American Godzilla after that one has been complete baby food

I’ve fallen asleep anytime I’ve tried to watch this movie. Boats puts me to sleep too, but at least I’ve actually seen it all the way through.

Save yourself time and watch the Jeff Bridges Kong. Prime Jessica Lange ruthlessly mogs any actress who has started in any Kong movie ever.

I remember going to the theatres as a kid and having to leave to piss 3 times during this movie.

>Jackson’s King Kong of all things is a stain on film
You’re a stain on life honestly.
