Why is there any discourse around this movie? It's pretty good, and for pretty straightforward reasons. It's a good looking period piece with understandable drama that doesn't feel absurd (until maybe the end).

I rewatched it a few days ago and found it to be an excellent movie with understandable plot points and motives. >>214543125It's not absurd, it's more so the protagonist is frustrated with preaching that did nothing for his son's disability, and that disability caused the rift between them. The movie is very straightfoward really.
