Once he was gone, it became the Pam and Jim show and they had to invent all sorts of dumb story lines to fill the massive chasm left by Michael's absence. After around season 6 or so the show became like a bad fan fiction spinoff. Even the Holly storyline was cringe and gay. What a terrible fate for such a funny show.
Show gets more and more bitter and spiteful. By the time Michael left I was done. I think by that point everybody has either cheated or caused somebody to cheat. Even looking beyond that they're all just miserable awful people after a while.

I thought I'd give this show a try after seeing funny scenes on youtube. Turns out that the funny scenes take up 5% of an episode and the rest is just filler.
