shotguns do make a lot of sense for zombie movies, they will canoe someone's head and they will greatly increase hit probability and the sights are usually very close to being inline with the bore. the obvious issue of course is the lack of ammo and the fact 12 gauge fucking sucks to carry around compared to 5.56 or .22 rimfire

I'm of the opinion that in a zombie apocalypse a melee weapon is better just to be quiet. Guns only attract the horde, which ammo and accuracy or not, you're fucked simply by numbers. The issue with melee weapons is proximity of course, and running higher risk of being bitten.
