>They seem to only be focused on advertising revenue and have completely forgotten about affiliate fees, which number in the hundreds of millions — probably in total billions — and you must allocate a certain percentage of those fees to late-night shows.
kimmel got bent over by the big affiliate cock lmao

go look at the ratings, there are legit only like 200,000 people under the age of 50 watching colbert every night, even fewer watching kimmel. Imagine spending fucking $40 milly on a show only 200,000 people watch

my point was that kimmel was saying that affiliates had to pay money to keep late night going and was proven hilariously wrong.

That isn’t what he said at all. How illiterate are you? He was saying that the numbers being thrown around as to why Colbert’s show was canceled due to costs appears to solely on ads and completely ignored affiliate fees. Which is a major source for money. If affiliate stations had begun refusing to air Colbert it would be a different matter but there isn’t evidence of that. Nobody was claiming that was the reason “the show lost money”. Instead people just pointed at ad revenue, which is affecting ALL broadcast networks and their shows, including scripted dramas

NTA but CBS said the show was losing $40 milly a year. Also scripted shows, even if they got fewer viewers, would probably be more attractive to tv stations because they can put them on streaming. I'd have to assume the streaming audience for any of those late night shows is pretty weak because why would you watch that shit after the fat? anything that would be remotely close to not absolute shit is up on youtube and most of the guests appear on better interview podcasts or have twitter if you really need to know what zendya is thinking

are you a fucking retard? why are you summarising the entire fucking article you sped? kimmel said that affiliates had to pay affiliate fees and a percentage of that had to be allocated to late night. those same affiliates just refused to air kimmel's shitty show and now he's off the air lol.

Do you think they wanted to pay out that money for a show that even his woketarded fanbase no longer watched?

That's worse than asmongold and hasan if you consider how long they stream for. 6 hours x 50K is more than 30 mins x 200k

zoomers watch streamers
millennials watch netflix and stuff
these late night faggots are on their way out

even then, he knew he was on the chopping block.

Disney could have fought it, they just chose to put the show on hiatus instead likely because of how badly the show was doing and it seems like broadcasters were trying to get rid of struggling late night shows. I think all the affiliate really wants is an apology, and Kimmel did violate FCC rules about lying about a crime or catastrophe. I expect they may bring him back after a week or once they figure this stuff out with the affiliate so they can get an Emmy and it will likely boost the ratings for a little bit after his return.
