They were far behind enemy lines. They would have slowed then down and given their position away.

KINO film.

5: Abu Ghraib. Strip them naked and tie them up mouth to asshole. When Shah's men get there they will drop their man jammies and participate in the orgy.

Negatory ole chum. They were above the northeast gulch of Sawtalo Sar when this happened. The village that Luttrell took refuge in, Salar Ban, was a short hike down the trail. Villagers heard the firefight. Here's picture of Luttrell while he's taking refuge in the village. He tore his cammies up running down the mountain so they gave him some man jammies.
>>
You would think something like this would be anticipated. I imagine in real life the comprise would be terminated without even a discussion.
>>
Why do USA use Navy frogmen for these operations? Where is green berets , delta force?

Navy seal force is bloated and misused.
>>
>>214652220
Marcus lived because he ran away. No shame in that. The corpsman that knows when to run away lives to become a millionaire off the lies he tells of the ambush. Every SEAL that stayed and fought died. Shame Luttrell was too much of a coward to admit that he just ran but there's better pay in lying...
Luttrell thought the mission was stupid but he didn't want to abandon his bros. Ironic because when the shit hit the fan that's exactly what he did.
Easy to say you want die with your bros. Lot harder to actually make that decision. Imagine your Luttrell. You know this mission is fucked but you go anyway.
>turns out we might die on this suicide mission.
you have two options. Luttrell was not the team leader (that guy paid for his lack of discretion with his life) mind you. He's just a medic following orders.
>option a. run away and live
>option b. never stick your dick in pussy again
fuck honor and glory. pussy tastes better. Lying about it. yeah. wrong. nothing more manly than running away from a suicide mission so you can keep fucking pussy. just don't fucking lie about it.
>>
>>214652294
Discretion of the team leader. I know it's trite and cliche but the military is not a democracy. Luttrell says Lt. Murphy put it up for a vote but Luttrell is a fucking liar so why should we believe that.
If Lt. Murphy orders the killing what later turns out to be civilians there's a chance he spends the rest of his life behind bars. Killing the goat herders wouldn't have done shit anyway. The whole mission was fucked before it even launched because they infiltrated aboard a jet engine helicopter the size of city bus.

Russia can't even handle tiny Ukraine, they're just hanging on and in a stalemate. Imagine if they fought a real country. They couldn't even spare a few planes for Assad. Are 100% defenseless atm outside of nukes.
>>
>>214652387
Good point chum. It's even worse than you realize. These were just any SEALs. They were submersible operators. The vast majority of SEALs never touch a submersible. These were dudes who spent most of their time operating this little submarines.
What were they doing in a landlocked country? The short answer is that officers are lied to about the true capabilities of the units under their command. Lt. Murphy (the guy in charge of this mission) lied to his boss, Lieutenant Commander Erik Kristensen, who repeated those lies to his boss. Both Lt. Murphy and Commander Kristensen died on this mission and their deaths were directly caused by their inexperience in reconnaissance.

There was an anon once who explained a similar situation and I expect its the same deal.
The question was "why do >>214652387
A send the navy (marines) to a desert" because its fucking retarded.
The answer is that they have some sort of retarded thing that if they send their army into a battle they have started a declaration of war or some shit so they instead send their navy. its like some bureaucratic BS they have in their burger retardation political policies.
So in this case (I assume) green berets, delta etc are army troops and navy seals are navy.
>>
>>214652887
International lawfag here.
This is not how the US DoD operates. The only country that does anything approximating this is Russia. Funny enough, since war was never declared on Ukraine, technically speaking, it's illegal for the Russian MoD to send conscripts inside Ukraine.
>>
>>214652929
You think you know all of burger law?
Burger law has lots of shit that is retarded, like the US president cannot deploy army on US soil, its illegal, he can only use home defence forces.
That anon mentioning about sending US army to foreign countries was years ago but he explained it enough that I believe he knew WTF he was talking about.
It also makes sense that a (land, infantry, army) military using the army on foreign land is a declaration of war but a naval or air using (cavalry and artillery) is not. Bureaucratically.
>>
>>214652131
What about the nuclear option
>We admit that we were incompetent, got ambushed by a dozen local drug dealers, ran away and wrote a best selling but ludicrously fictional book about the experience and then turn it into a goofy action kino

The latest scandal in the real housewives of JSOC is exactly this. Seal Team 6 shot a bunch of North Korean civilian fishermen and dumped them at sea.
>>
>>214652387
Because the operation was run by the Marines and Navy Seals wanted a job so they took it over, and their SDV team wanted a job so they gave it to them. The job was initially offered to U.S. Army Special Forces who rejected it because the target was not Al Qaeda or Taliban and not worth the effort.
>>
>>214652887
there is no such thing in "burger law". the SEALs were sent to Afghanistan because the US Navy lies about their capabilities and the media, civilians, US lawmakers, and high ranking officers believe it.
>>
>>214653217
>>214653388
>t. burgers
SO apparently burgers have no laws at all and understanding the different functions of military forces is too complicated for a burger to understand.

Damn, if I was a burger I would an hero for being so retarded but I would also be too retarded to know how to tie a slipknot
>>
>>214652131
Option 5: Fulton them to motherbase
>>
>>214652131
This shit is so made up that it's retarded. There are half a dozen options here that would make so much more sense then just letting them go.

>>
>>214653655
>SEAL acronym includes Land
Why are you so retarded?
Who cares what the fucking names of units are called. Military functions are split into infantry, artillery and cavalry and the divisions of army, navy and air forces.
SEALS are NAVY as in maritime warfare. Whether the troops of the section of the military touch land or not or are called gay space niggers,, it doesnt mean they are space forces, they are NAVAL FORCES....maritime forces.

Fucking burger retad.

Detaining three guys and then marching them at gunpoint to an extraction zone miles away when there’s only four of you isn’t very feasible.

>>214652178

BASED

>>214652520

Luttrell’s claims that they would have been sent to Leavenworth for killing the shepherds are complete bullshit. SEALs kill civilians in far less justified circumstances with alarming regularity and the number of them that have faced legal consequences for it can be counted with the number of fingers on an amputee’s hand.

>>214652387

It was originally going to be a USMC Force Recon team and they would have been dropped off miles away and hiked in, but they wanted to use 160th SOAR’s Chinooks and the SEALs demanded that they get the mission instead and proceeded to completely fuck it up by being dropped off on top of the mountain where everyone could see them.

>>214654041
What part of "Land" are you struggling? You are aware Afghanistan borders countries that border oceans right? Also it's called tactics. The enemy would frequently shelter in boats, knowing that in a land locked country the army could not see them.

Inter-service rivalry has existed since forever, and commanders are always bitching about "getting in the game" regardless if they should even being playing in it in the first place.

Based. Less gooks in the world is a net plus.
>>
>>214652887
>The answer is that they have some sort of retarded thing that if they send their army into a battle they have started a declaration of war or some shit
Wrong and retarded. In accordance with the war powers resolution of 1973, the U.S. president has authority to deploy and conduct military operations without a declaration of war, or approval of congress, for up to 60 days, with an additional 30 days being allowed for withdrawal of forces. The executive branch has been exploiting that shit ever since, and with the approval of congress, they can keep using the military to conduct combat operations even if and when war isn't officially declared.
>>
>>214655477
You should have let that ESL retard continue D-K'ing himself
>>
>>214652131
that was supposed to be a normal US Marine Corps mission to crush the goatfuckers but SEALs are too cool to have aerial support and big numbers, so they went there to die alone.
