Is one of the most fukcing retarded choices ever
It's such a raimi thing
It's so dumb
So so so dumb
Disgustingly dumb
>>
>>214664551
>dude get bitten by a radioactive spider
>UHM ACTSHUALLY, HE DOESN'T GET WEB POWERS BUT A SENSE OF DANGER (which all spiders clearly posess)
Raimi made it better
>>
>>214664551
good morning sir
>>
It's fine you brown piece of shit
>>
>>214664551
it's a shitty choice but it's not very important
>>
>>214664551
>Guy gets bitten by a Spider
>Develops an actual ability that spiders have and assuming spider power could have given him, as opposed to crap like 'spider sense', which would be based on having multiple eyes at different angles around the head, or 'wall crawling' which he'd only have if he developed setae and didn't wear gloves that'd cover his hands.
Honestly it was the best choice he could have made, and all Spiderman incarnations should have this power as part of their natural power-set. OP is the one who's Disgustingly dumb.
>>
>>214664551
Only thing Webshooters are used for is forced steaks when the writers have them break or run out of fluid to fuck with Spidey.
>>
>>214664551
Well, his powers wouldn't be very spider-themed otherwise. How else is he supposed to figure out he's a spider?!
>>
>>214664551
Non comics person here. The organic shooters seems to make more sense. It's a special power from the Spider-Bite. Him just making them in his bedroom seems stupid. What does he even need a Spider-Bite for if he's a 11/10 super genius?

On the contrary, organic webbers are an excellent choice. They're such a good choice I was actually shocked to discover they didn't exist in the comics. Raimi changed it for the better. As if to prove the point, several writers of the comics later stated that they would have given Peter organic webs from the start if they had thought of it.
>>
>>214665001
same. i thought it was canon so the new movies' tech felt like a novelty

A lot of comic fans don't seem to grasp how stupid some of their concepts are if you haven't acclimatised to them, and almost never realise how adaption forces changes by necessity.
The Raimi movies are in their own separate continuity where it's just real life outside the changes we see within them, so some kid inventing mechanical web shooters out of nowhere would be plain retarded.
>>
>>214665133
The only reason he didn't have them originally was because there were laws about showing people expelling organic fluids, and of course now comic book autists refuse to accept anything else
>>
>>214665133
>As if to prove the point, several writers of the comics later stated that they would have given Peter organic webs from the start if they had thought of it.
[citation needed]
>>
>>214665001
Because capeshit as we know it did not yet exist and Lee was trying to be more realistic in the spirit of pulp comics. The early issues just have Spidey be an exceptionally physically strong gymnast and acrobat who can climb walls. People act like "Oh, it's stupid they didn't give him the ability to shoot webs out of his wrists" now that comics are insane but they had to draw a line somewhere back then.

makes most sense. without web, he's more like i don't know. bug man at best. not much spider about him.
except in the cartoon where he turned in to some giant spider or some shit
>>
>>214665951
They didn't draw the line at giving him a psychic fourth sense that can somehow detect danger?
>>
>>214666070
>fourth sense
I mean sixth
>>
>>214664551
I actually didn't mind it. Uncanny spider sense is dubious of course, but something a spider definitely DOES have an instinct for and they should play up more in the comics and the movies is the ability to find the best route over a 3D surface.

So you can imagine if you were at the end of hallway with a spider crawling toward you from the other end it would get there quicker than you'd expect via an apparently circuitous route that is actually a straight line:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_spider_and_the_fly_problem

Spiderman could presumably do the same thing to a bad guy in an alleyway.
>>
>>214664945
They also did it in raimi spiderman (he's losing his mojo and is struggling).

Which is dramatically better, because it ties his powers to general well being as a character instead of an artificial supply of something divorced from him (web shooter fluid)
>>
>>214666070
How is that spider ability anyway. Is it supposed to be like mental spider web that he can feel tingling. I don't know

That was just because Ditko and Lee were two guys who didn't know shit about bugs. Originally the spidey sense was a literal radar sense like bats have before later writers turned it into some supernatural thing because spiders don't have that. If someone knew the frequency of the spidey sense they could basically call him on the phone.
>>
>>214665001
I dont read comicshit but in the cartoon parker explains it by saying he thinks he maybe he gained the idea/knowledge for the web/shooters from the dna changes. Which is retarded of course and organic makes way more sense
>>
>>214666155

They were obviously trying to give him eyes in the back of his head without giving him actual eyes in the back of his head, but then it became more open to interpretation.

A spider's principle two eyes are in the front and have detailed vision, while the others are inferior and sometimes can do little but sense movement and changes in light.
ie. Give them a 'sense' of their surroundings, but if they want to look at shit in detail they have to turn and look.

You can see how jumping spiders rely on their main two eyes more, and are highly advanced for judging distance:

1) They rely heavily on constantly starting new storylines to take advantage of the sales bump of a new launch while not actually doing anything new, leaving them with the worst of both worlds by having no continuity and limited avenues for new fans to jump in
2) Manga became more socially acceptable and started stealing its lunch
3) They're fucking dogshit

Spider-Man was a super-soldier project, just like Cap. It makes sense. Osborn was experimenting with Hydra serums.

This applies to half the marvel superheros
>>
>>214666615
I noticed in the marvel movies. I wasn't sure if that's comics accurate. I still don't get the Hulk, of all characters, is some once in a millenia super genius too. He's meant to smash shit
>>
>>214666302
Cartoon Parker got mutated into Man-Spider, and almost turned him into Morbius.. Spider-bite was a mistake.
>>
>>214664551
i always thought spiderman has organic web he just can't shoot it without equipment
>>
>>214666647
because for story reasons he has to be a nuclear radiation scientist
>>
i agree with the other anons. even in the original comics it was weird how he got this magical radioactive power, then he goes out of his way to make construct web shooters/fluid: "oh no! i forgot to bring more capsules!"
the fuck? might as well be Horse-Man, and alongside your horse powers, you carry a gun.

(not to mention all the DNA/gene-splicing shit was trendy in the 2000s, and the 'body horror' script sounds pretty kino. 'accuracy to the comics' is stupid, like that automatically means better.)
>>
Always hated the web cartridges because its Reed Richards/Tony Stark level of genius tech. He's fucking between 15 and 23 and lives at home but hes got some wristband sized cartridge of incredible webbing material that would have countless technological and medicinal applications irl? Fuck off

In the comics, I don't think they ever explain how he is able to do all kind of different types of web with a thing that works with a simple button press. Sometimes it's a rope that sticks so he can swing, sometimes it's balls of web that he uses as projectiles, sometimes it's an actual giant spider web that he uses to catch things. If it comes from his body, it makes more sense because it's an organic thing that he can control directly
>>
>>214666818
i think originally it was a button, then they made it some kind of lever?
i can accept it just propelling the web, aim-and-shoot, maybe with some speed setting. hammer it on and off, suddenly it's globs instead of rope?

has anyone ever made a comic/spy style grappling gun? seems like one of those 'this guy on YouTube' projects, if anyone has any links. (how the fuck would you reset them?)

Depends on the species dude, there's literally a gazillion arrangements for different specialisations, and yes, some are on the back of the head.
>>
>>214666647
The whole point of the character is that he is a scientist that turns into a monster against his will. It's a retelling of Dr Jekill and Mr Hyde. But later in the comics, in the 90's I think, he successfully merged both personas, this is what we see in Avengers Endgame. But then both personas got seprarated again

Just one example where the two posterior eyes are closer to the centre line than the side eyes. This one isn't facing rear of a turret-like head as in the jumping spider, but you get the idea. Given a gazillions of species, I doubt you'd have trouble finding something even more convincing.
>>
I don't like tech webbers because they are used as a reverse clutch
>spiderman can fuck this loser villain up too easily
>i know lets just say his tech shit broke/his tech shit ran out of webstuff
it's lazy writing.
Also some scientist could grab a sample of the webbing and reverse engineer it.
>inb4 ackshually it vaporizes within an hour
More lazy writing.
>>
>>214666757
A decade before it came out?
>>
>>214667201
having basic rules and sticking to them is fine, so i think
>ackshually it vaporizes within an hour
is fine. just means it's not this all-powerful thing or they constantly have to deal with it.

but yeah "he just runs out" was bullshit. a few times they at least set it up, he's in a hurry and forgets extra fluid, Chekhov's gun shit. but when he just runs out, whenever it's convenient? fuck that. a supervillain couldn't just BREAK his web shooters, intentionally?
>>
>>214667260
yep. just like how the Superman comics stole flying from the Superman Fleischer cartoons. even if those came later.

>>
>>214667156
Those are top facing, thing is there isnt any real evo use for rear eyes non primary are just motion sensors basically and their ass is going to trigger them constantly and they already have hairs to sense things sneaking up in them, they only need top mounts for birds
>>

fuck off, it's a classic, no spiderman movie can reach the level of kino of Raimi's Spiderman, not even the cocksucker twink and the nigger, with all the millions of dollars in production and tik tok and all that crap can grasp a pinch of the greatness the Toby's spiderman has.
>>
spiderman should have a big fat ass that he shoots web from
>>
>>214667414

>>
>>214667537
the only way it could get more stupid is if he was already working on web-shooters, then the spider-bite spider-powers happened by coincidence.
>>
>>214667648
i think Tobey himself sucks, in fact almost all the actors are poor choices.

but the operatic writing is 10/10. one of the benefits of standalone films as opposed to a ton of sequels or a shared universe: can actually have its own style. imagine if you put that same dialogue in a social realist Punisher film or something.
>>
>>214664551
I really like the trope of Peter running out of web fluid and needing to restock. Raimi fucked that.
I don't remember if the other Spider-Man series did any of that despite having mechanical shooters.
And the token references to Peter's intelligence are gay.
>>
>>214664551
I am not a comic book nerd and was shocked to learn that there was ever a version of Spodermon that didn't produce webs naturally. The idea that he he needs some external apparatus is as ridiculous as suggesting that Superman has x-ray vision but needs a Kryptonian jetpack to fly. Now that I know it's a thing, it's officially the gayest thing in comics, even gayer than the fact the Cyclops is unable to live a normal daily life without wearing magic sunglasses.

Seriously. The only limitation on Spiderman's webs should be massive caloric requirements like The Flash, "it's pizza time" but he has to eat 20 pizzas/day to replenish protein stores for webbing. Again, as a non comic nerd it's astonishing to me that the idea of artificial webbing was ever even considered. You've already developed a superhero bitten by a magic spider with super-strength, agility, senses, physical resilience, who can climb vertical surfaces, but you draw the line at natural webbing? Pants-on-head retarded, and let's all thank Raimi for correcting the record.

then establish he funnels it from his backside through the lining of his costume to out of his wrists, that way he can aim/see what he's doing.

or skip that entirely, with something like 'he just fires webbing out of his wrists' (insane, i know.)

Webshooters are shit now because writers have Peter too dumb to make them (or at least make them perfect) and forcing Peter to rely on Tony Stark or Norman Osborn to give him perfect webshooters.

I’d rather have Peter have natural web-shooting then have Peter have to have a mentor teach him how to make the best webshooters.

It's fucking retarded a teenager could make it in his shitty New York department.
