Dream world in inception, time travel or Chaos vs CIA-operative style suspending liberal order to save the liberal order in the batman trilogy. It allows conflict to thrive and it's what makes Nolan films so rewatchable even if they aren't exactly the best, have major plot holes and can be a little too on their nose on delivery of it's themes. Meanwhile, Reeves just fundamentally doesn't understand Batman. It's a teenager's idea of what a mature super hero movie should look like -excessively long, dark and gritty and turning the main hero and villain into analogues of serial killers (because that's the only way Reeves could think of making men wear masks as palatable). It's really hacky and lacks creativity but people really praise this shit film because Batman is "nice" at the end or something because the beginning and ending monologuing spell out the themes and morals of the film for the monkey audience to understand

I really liked the action and how ridiculous it is despite being a "grounded and serious detective story" and I think everyones cast pretty well. Pattinson does the loner autist super well and can convey so much with just his eyes and the way he stands. Buuut its way too long for not much to actually happen, and the plotting feels very all over the place. I could pick at it but I'll just give some examples. Take the Riddlers plan, it feels like they realised they pretty much had him fix the system by killing all the corrupt officials and that made Batman look pointless and stupid so we get the sudden "I'm gonna flood the city" plot thats not really been hinted at so far. Not to mention the world of this Batman feels poorly thought out, like, Gordon is constantly shocked at how corrupt Gotham is yet he also works with Batman all the time? If you thought everything was fine why would you engage with an outside influence like that? Also on a personal level I kinda don't wanna see Batman fight mobsters and serial killers anymore. I know thats his thing but I'd like to see him against something more out there and strange like something mystical. In the comics he's fought vampires like the Mad Monk and literal ghosts so its not completely out of character. I just feel like it'd be more fresh than seeing more Nolan lite movies
