This was fucking incredible. I still don’t know why the anon who recommended it to me did, since I said I wanted something similar to Margin Call. I think he just thought it was a really good movie and had Simon Baker and Spacey kek and honestly, it is.
If you like this you should check out James Ellroy's novels: The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential. And if you play vidya, play LA Noire which is closely based on Ellroy's stuff.I don't however recommend De Palma's adaptation of The Black Dahlia, a film that asks us to believe Josh Hartnett is an old-school tough guy cop from the 50s. That was crap. Avoid that one.
I'll definitely check them, The Big Nowhere seems particularly interesting given how dark it seems to be, thanks.
>>214682092Ops, meant to quote >>214682014.
>>214681919If you want something like Margin Call look up Boiler Room & Matchstick Men (Last pic not similar but is about scam artists and is kino)
>>214681919Watch The Ninth Gate
>>214683307>Boiler Room & Matchstick MenThe second seems interesting, the first I never had the interest and I doubt it will be even remotely as good as Margin Call, but thanks anyway.>>214683474Already did.
>>214681919If you somehow haven't seen it watch the 1946 version of The Big Sleep. The one with Humphrey Bogart.
>>214683744I only watched two movies in black and white, The Hustler and Night of the Demon. kekGuess that one could be the third.
>>214682014I swore I watched Black Dahlia but it didn't sound like what you were describing. Looked it up and realized I mistook it for Mulholland Falls, which I did watch. That was kind of trash too honestly, but Jennifer Connelly's tits were immaculate (assuming no body doubling). Jesus.
>>214683867Even if you aren't normally interested in black and white films I would still recommend watching it.
>>214684069Noted. Thanks.
>>214684111So would I. It's a classic for a reason. Laura is another great one.
>>214681919dunno why they decided to make a by the numbers noir film in the 90s but that was kino
>>214684208If anything I wish they made more these days. Without any weird modernisms or Whedonist dialogue.
>>214682014I never met a soul who read the book and liked the movie kek
>>214681919I still think the Rollo Tomasi twists is one of the greatest in cinema ever.
Kino movies in this thread, blessed anons.
Is L.A Confidential the last noir film?
>>214681919Noir and gangster movies bore the fuck out of me. This movie was boring. The Godfather was boring. I can't even make it to the end of any of them they are so fucking boring and pretentious and predictable. I hate how that one Family Guy scene became such a stupid meme, because Peter was 100% right.
>>214681919Kim received an Oscar for her role and the award ceremony was an intensely emotional moment.
>>214681919If you liked that check out Chinatown (1974) with jack Nicholson.
>>214685988Have you ever considered the possibility that you're the boring one?
>>214681919fucking love this moviethere was a period in my life where i would watch it every week for like 4 months
russell crowe calms himself down by throwing a chair through a window
>>214687895Lynn put a spell on him.
One of the only films I can think of with a Jewish villain
>>214681919Chinatown, the two jakes, inherent vice, nice guys, kiss kiss bang bang
>>214685812under the silver lake imo
Russel Crowe carries the fuck out if this movie
>>214688103and the usual suspects I didnt add but I assumed this is known kalesi
>>214681919Now go play la noire. It's fun
>>214682014LA Noire. It's a good game, but Rockstar once again rips off movies entirely. The characters are straight from L.A. Confidential.
>>214685988Do you just hate older movies or what?
